MAC Barbecue Lipglass
MAC Barbecue Lipglass

MAC Barbecue Lipglass ($16.50 for 0.17 fl. oz.) is described as a “vivid orange red.” It’s a brightened, medium coral-orange with warm undertones and a creamy, glossy finish. It had mostly opaque pigmentation that settled slightly into lip lines but goes on fairly evenly. It wore well for four hours on me. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

MAC Opera Lipglass ($16.50 for 0.17 fl. oz.) is described as a “dark red.” It’s a deepened, blue-based red with a glossy shine. I swear there is a very, very fine shimmer that’s barely-there. It had semi-opaque pigmentation–there was some translucency so the natural lip color comes through–that goes on evenly. This shade lasted for five hours. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

MAC Oxblood Lipglass ($16.50 for 0.17 fl. oz.) is described as a “light peachy nude.” It’s a muted, pink-coral with warm undertones and a creamy, glossy finish. It had semi-opaque color coverage that did settle into lip lines, unfortunately. It either looks streaky and uneven applied with less product, or else it will settle (pick your poison!). This shade wore well for four hours on me. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

MAC Sin Lipglass ($16.50 for 0.17 fl. oz.) is described as a “deep blood red.” It’s a deepened, muted red with subtle, warm undertones. It had semi-sheer color payoff that went on really unevenly with both streakiness and a lot of color settling into lip lines. This shade lasted for four and a half hours on me and feathered. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

I might get Barbeque & Oxblood. Maybeeee. Since I’m already set on getting all of the lipsticks. And maybe a few blushes. Hehehe.

(Not sure if you saw my comment on the blush post but do you think the blushes would show up on a NC40-44? I like the looks of them but am afraid they wont show up.)

OMG, Opera is totally stunning, that perfect mix of red and orange for me! I don’t have anything like it and really want, it but I’m sure it’s going to sell out fast and might have to settle for a dupe. BBQ is pretty for spring. Oxblood and Sin don’t look good on their own, better layered over a lipstick.

Barbecue makes me think of bbq sauce, I can’t get over the name making it sound like slathering sauce on your lips. Oxblood is an actual color…and it is not a peachy nude. That drives me nuts! Otherwise I love the look of Opera, and Sin is a gorgeous color, I’m disappointed it didn’t perform well! At least there seems to be plenty of dupes!

Thanks for the review! My favorites, Oxblood and Sin ranked the worst. Crossing my fingers for the lipsticks! Barbecue and Opera are maybes for me. I am not big on colored glosses. never seem to stay on me even with a liner under. May as well do a lipstick with a clear gloss. They are pretty though. I will have to think about those.

Yes they do. I only own 4 counting the Miley Viva Glam I pre ordered today. I just get frustrated with the hit or miss with a high priced product. I like a line to be consistent throughout. I kind of banned Mac altogether before I stumbled upon your blog because I had so many personal fails with them. Giving them a second chance. But, i absolutely check out the reviews first.

Oh Barbecue looks interesting! I was wondering how do you think Oxblood (odd name for that color) compares to the Bijou lipglass that was released in the Sharon Osbourne collection?

Barbecue and Opera are stunning. I’m sorry to see Sin is patchy; I like the color a lot.

It seems to me they named “Sin” and “Oxblood” backwards. :/

Love the shade *called* Oxblood to layer over the same name lipstick. Like just about everyone else herr, I am utterly perplexed at MAC’S choice of that name…??? But I love the shade nonetheless. Also love Opera!!!

I like all of these except the last one, based on your lovely full face pics (I have to wonder if they confused the names for Sin and Oxblood or something? LOL!). Oxblood is a really pretty colour, but it’s a shame about the usual issues with liplines and such. For some reason, the idea of a lipgloss with the name ‘barbecue’ really appeals to me – I have no idea why…

Other than adorable packaging, they look great on Christine. That’s about it. Christine, have you gotten paler? Odd question but you’ve been looking so much lighter than your stated color so I’m wondering if you fade that much in winter because that is fascinating!

All shades are nice 😀 regarding the way they look on the lips, I like Barbecue(doesn’t look like barbecue lol) and opera 😀 oxblood is so pretty, it’s a shame it settles like that. Then again, i keep hearing lipglasses are sticky so idk if i’ll ever get one.

Hi, I really enjoy all of your photos and info about the new cosmetics coming out along with being able to find dupes as well. I only wanted to ask, which I am sure people have told u before, so many girls are using photos from UR blog w/out giving you credit. I see them on Mercari each n every day as well as Instagram. Have you thought of watermarking the inside of your lips or around them to cut down on the thievery? It makes me so irritated when they don’t give PHOTOG credit and steal for their own use. Thanks. Barbeque looks gorgeous on you! I am tempted to get that one but I have Caqui Lip Glass and have only worn it twice and am afraid that this one may be very close in color (by any chance did you compare those two?).

I ♥ reds, I wish that I could afford all the lip products from this collection
(except Sin) because they are all beautiful!
