Among the Fireflies
MAC Among the Fireflies Lipstick ($17.50 for 0.10 oz.) is a muted, plummy brown with a soft sheen. It had good color coverage in a single layer with a lightweight, lightly creamy texture that glided on with ease but did not feel too slippery on the lips. It wore well for four hours and was neither hydrating nor drying.

MAC Lipstick comes in a variety of finishes, and the pigmentation and wear tend to be dependent on the finish. The sheer finishes, like Lustres, tend to wear for only a couple of hours and have sheer coverage (as designed) and are non-drying.
Some of the original Matte shades have a stiffer, drier formula, while newer ones have a more velvety, silicone-feel to them, and the latter are creamier, more comfortable to wear, and easier to apply, but most Matte shades are quite pigmented and long-wearing, though some are drying.
The Amplified and Satin finishes tend to have good pigmentation, lightly creamy to moderately creamy consistencies with a bit of shine, and moderate to long wear with deeper, richer shades wearing longer. The Frost and Metallic finishes have the most variance between shades with coverage ranging from semi-sheer to opaque with average wear and non-drying to slightly drying formulas. All MAC lipsticks are vanilla-scented but have no discernible taste.

Baby's All Right
MAC Baby’s All Right Lipstick ($17.50 for 0.10 oz.) is a muted, medium rosy mauve with neutral-to-cool undertones and a semi-matte finish. It had excellent pigmentation with a smooth, velvety texture that glided across the lips without dragging. It was a bit thicker, though, and separated at my deeper lip lines and settled slightly over time. The lipstick lasted well for four hours on me and was non-drying.

Bare Bling
MAC Bare Bling Lipstick ($17.50 for 0.10 oz.) is a light peach with a white base and a cream finish. It appeared lighter when I applied it to my lips than swatched, and for as light as it was, it went on a lot more evenly than I expected. There was still room for it to be more even but little color gathered in my lipes despite the creamier consistency. This shade wore well for four hours on me and was lightly hydrating.

Two of these shades are perfect for me, but…
I already own four of the lipsticks on the Among the Fireflies dupe list and three of the lipsticks on the Baby’s All Right dupe list!!
So far, this line isn’t impressing me
Affirmation that ordering Among The Fireflies was a great choice: priceless! Yes, I definitely love my tube of this shade that I received just this Friday.
Also quite glad that I chose Mmmmm over Baby’s All Right, due to Mmmmm being a deeper and slightly warmer shade.
Bare Bling has me confused! It is just so pale that it makes me immediately think “slapped on some concealer and called it lipstick”!
Mmmmmm looks like a good pick for you!
These turned out great, the first two are really good! I think they would be too light for me. I’d have to swatch.
Christine, I just noticed that Among the Fireflies has an A- rating on the main review page, but when I clicked view all dupes, its rating is B+. Doesn’t matter to me but thought you might want to know there might be a glitch somewhere!
Sorry, Kelly – it’s an issue we’re working on fixing – it’s showing the average rating for the shade since it has been reviewed in the past on the home page.
Christine, does the better rating mean that the new Among the Fireflies is an improved formula over the previous one?
Yes.
Among the Fireflies is my fave nude brown! Goes well with so many bold eye looks and doesn’t make me look dead
Hmmm I really like the look of Among the Fireflies but worry that it might not show up on my pigmented lips. What swatches good on the pale skin of my hand can disappear on my lips. Err damn I see it’s an LE. Lol, LE’s tend to sell out before I can make up my mind.
There’s something about this line that’s not wowing me – the mattish finish and even the browny shades are just not colourful enough for me.
I am with you Genevieve. I think I look like death warmed over when I wear anything to pale or too brown. I think it is our pale, cool toned skin. I love me a good bright lipstick. I do have a few that I call pale but even those are pretty bright, LOL.
These all look so pretty on you!!! Makes me want to buy baby’s all right and among th fireflies but I know I will never really wear them because I don’t wear nudes but they are so pretty!! Ugh lol.
Thank you, Lunasol 🙂
If Among the Fireflies isn’t the most perfect, everyday color, I don’t know what is!
So I absolutely love Among the Fireflies, but has anyone else had a problem with it being too soft? Every time I use it, the entire lipstick shifts in the lipstick bullet and causes indents on the actual lipstick
