MAC Maria Moretti Lipstick ($16.00 for 0.10 oz.) is described as a “cherry red [with an Amplified finish].” It’s a brightened, medium-dark red with cool, blue undertones and a very fine ruby red pearl with a light shine. It had mostly opaque color coverage that applied with really even, smooth color in a single stroke. The consistency was lightly creamy and never dragged when I applied it from the tube. On me, the color lasted for six hours and left a stain behind. It was neither drying nor hydrating. It is slightly shinier and brighter compared to Cardinal from the collaboration with Philip Treacy. Tom Ford Beauty Luciano (LE, $32.00) is cooler-toned. Tom Ford Beauty Alejandro (LE, $32.00) is darker, cooler-toned. MAC Carmine Rouge (LE, $30.00) is lighter, pinker. MAC Evening Posh (LE, $16.00) is similar. NARS Deadly Catch (LE, $26.00) is a touch darker. Guerlain Rouge Parade (820) (LE, $51.00) is brighter. MAC Oblivion (LE, $16.00) is slightly cooler-toned. MAC True Love’s Kiss (LE, $16.00) is warmer. Too Faced Melted Ruby (P, $21.00) is brighter. Estee Lauder Vengeful Red (P, $30.00) is similar. Tom Ford Beauty Vampire Kiss (LE, $50.00) is cooler-toned. Urban Decay 69 (P, $22.00) is darker. Maybelline On Fire Red (P, $7.49) is similar. Guerlain Greta (P, $51.00) is slightly darker. Guerlain Gala (P, $51.00) is slightly cooler-toned. Buxom Scoundrel (P, $21.00) is cooler-toned. Get comparison swatches / compare dupes side-by-side. MAC has a lot of reds out there, including matte reds, which I didn’t include as this has a significant sheen with plenty of dupes with a simialr color and finish, but you can compare this to other matte reds here.

MAC High Tea Lipstick ($16.00 for 0.10 oz.) is described as a “beige pink with pearl [with a Lustre finish].” It’s a muted, light-medium beige-brown with lighter gold shimmer and a luminous sheen. It had sheer color coverage that lightened and warmed up my natural color while added a frosted sheen. It lasted for two hours and was drying over time with some color pulling into lip lines after an hour and a half of wear. Tom Ford Beauty Vanilla Suede (DC, $50.00) is lighter. MAC Romantic Breakdown (LE, $16.00) is lighter. Tom Ford Beauty Orlando (LE, $32.00) is slightly lighter. Tom Ford Beauty Holden (LE, $32.00) is lighter. Burberry Gold No. 217 (LE, $33.00) is sheerer. Too Faced Shimmering Naked Dolly (LE, $22.00) is more shimmery. MAC Naked Bud (LE, $16.00) is warmer. MAC Altered Beige (LE, $16.00) is more shimmery. Get comparison swatches /compare dupes side-by-side.

Mac is killing me with all the sheer colours this spring, I get so excited when I see it in the bullet and then die inside at the swatches

They both look great on you, and I was very close to adding Mia moretti to my wish list, but it seems eminently durable so thanks for helping me keep a few pennies in my wallet :). And thanks for the quick reviews!

Yeah, I buy a MAC Lustre once in a while, but the majority are very disappointing IME–they often wear unevenly or settle into lip lines, are frequently drying (which is odd for a tinted balm-like product), and never wear particularly well.

I do remember getting High Tea in high school though thinking that getting a shimmery nude lipstick was going to turn me into Angelina Jolie or Michelle Branch or something. LOL! I ended up returning it when it failed to make me feel anything like either. It wasn’t until college that I accepted that I generally prefer myself in a lip color that plays up the brightness in my lips rather than tones it down, as much as I appreciate a nude lip on others.

You look beautifully radiant in the “high tea” look. Just a poster picture of spring!!! I might take High Tea for a spin to see what it does for me. I love “hint of colour and lit from within, not spread it with a spatula” finish of Lusters. But there might be a reason I don’t even remember having this product in my stash, which my makeup spreadsheet tells me I do. Here’s hoping.

As for Moretti, it’s a big pass. No use for any shine in my reds – Retro Matte all the way.

I like that red. But it is so dupable. I see no reason to drive myself batty trying to get it. I don’t get why Mac makes things that are very, very dupabale and re promotes LE. I don’t see why they just don’t add a great product to their permanent line and make $ all the time..it’s kinda common sense if you ask me. High Tea would have been utterly gorgeous in a well performing, more opaque formula. If they were going to have this collection at the counters, I would consider getting the Mia Moretti lipstick. But, I’m not messing with the online only collections.

An Amplified??? And a perfect RED??? This is just too good for me to pass up! I know this has got to be one very crazy busy weekend for you, Christine. Your poor lips, especially considering that the bulk of these are Lustres! Just know that we all appreciate what you do.

Maria Moretti is such a lovely vibrant colour – but High Tea? OMG – that nude colour would make most complexions look unfinished. It looks as if you are not wearing lipstick at all.
Maria looks absolutely stunning on you Christine – it really is your colour.

I love the new mac maria moreti red! It’s absolutely gorgeous. I’ve been trying to decide which red to buy for my very first red lipstick. Knowing that there’s a red for everyone, but finding that red can be a daunting task, I’ve been very hesitant to start buying red lipsticks without knowing which colors are the perfect undertones for me. Luckily I can try out different colored reds at the drugstore, and find the best color and return the rest because of their guarantee, and I love it when yo and other bloggers have dupes up for the more expensive lipsticks, so I can see which color would match the color I like in one of the more expensive lipsticks also. Of course, it’s not bad to have on hand that inexpensive brand also. Whoever said that you can have too many lipsticks? That’s like saying a girl can have too many pairs of shoes or handbags! Yeah right! Like that could ever happen. Love your site.

I love the new Revlon reds, fire and ice is one of the really great colors, but they do have so many that are so close that it does make it hard to find THE ONE. Mac has some really gorgeous colors, I feel like I’m drawn to the Rhianna lipstick and lipglass red that Mac came out with, but I hesitate to take the plunge, because what if looks awful on me? I’m then stuck with this really expensive mistake! So, red is a really difficult color to pick, yes there is a perfect red for every woman, but finding it is the hard part!
