MAC x Philip Treacy Nude Pink High-Light Powder Review, Photos, Swatches
MAC Nude Pink High-Light Powder
MAC Nude Pink High-Light Powder ($32.00 for 0.35 oz.) is described as a “champagne base with silver.” It’s a light-medium peachy-beige witha very fine gold shimmer. The silver is merely an over-spray and disappears the first time the brush swishes across the surface (which I removed prior to swatching/using). bareMinerals The Premiere (LE, $26.00) is more shimmery, warmer. Chanel Caresse (180) (LE, $45.00) is less shimmery. Guerlain Perles d’Etoiles (LE, $60.00) is warmer. Surratt Beauty Duchesse (P, $32.00) is lighter. Marc Jacobs Beauty Shameless (220) (P, $30.00) is darker, more matte. MAC Amber Glow (LE, $27.00) is lighter, more shimmery. MAC Bareness (LE, $25.00) is more shimmery. This is one of the more confusing formulas released by MAC, as it is called a “High-Light Powder,” yet the effect of the shimmer was almost imperceptible on my skin–even in person. I’m not surprised that it barely produces color on my medium skin tone (it is too close to my natural coloring), but I thought it might work to give a luminous, natural sheen to the skin. Instead, it seemed to make the skin appear smoother but made the skin look flat, so it seemed more like a setting powder in regards to what the end result was. On fairer skin tones, this might work as a really subtle blush or brightener, and it may reduce some redness due to its generally peachy tone. The texture is really soft and finely-milled but fairly powdery, so I would recommend using a very light touch to avoid a lot of excess powder kicked up in the pan. What little color I could see seemed to last for eight hours on me.

I love the design of this highlighter! Reminds me of palm trees 🙂 It’s a little too beige-y for me, maybe the other one will work better on my skintone!
The design is cool!
Thank you for the review doll, definitely passing this up!
No prob, Tea!!
It is so gorgeous!
The pattern looks cool!
My gosh, that pattern is pretty! Other than that it just looks okay though.
I wish it had more of a sheen!
It would have been cool and interesting if the overspray actually went all the way through and contributed to luminosity. If it’s gonna be called a highlighter than it should have some decent sheen showing up!
Agreed!
I have no idea what I’d use it for. A highlighter I guess?
Maybe – I think it’ll be too dark to be a “matte highlighter” on fair skin. I thought MAYBE a subtle contour but it is fairly warm.
This doesn’t have any life on the face in my opinion. I think I would have really loved it if it had some shimmer.. The colour is very nice.. just falls too flat
That’s how I felt – it seemed like it sucked life out of my skin – dulled and flattened, and that effect is often what you get from setting powders AND why finishing and highlighting products exist, LOL! I need 75% of my face to be smoothed out and 25% to have that natural glow back!
I like the design and the color looks wearable, but I think this is too mattifying for my skin. Those with oilier skin may want to give this a try
Yes, definitely – very mattifying!
That doesn’t look like a highlighter at all. Too bad: The design in the pan is really pretty.
It’s oddly flat!
I don’t think this will work for me but the design is just so stunning. Such a tease!
Right? Beautiful concept!
Gosh, these two Philip Treacy highlighter powders really fall FLAT! Easy pass for me here, as I need a glow to be put back on my face!
Very flat!\
I was interested in this after seeing the collection but yup, it looks flat. I’m no fan of shimmer and glitter but this looks downright dull – like it would be a needless step/product. Disappointing but thanks for saving me a few bucks!
Great for smoothing out pores, LOL! Just… not at all highlighting.
This is one of those “If I were a rich girl products”. Maybe then I’f buy it just because I like the pattern in the powder. But, probably not because Id have makeup artist who took care of buying all the awesome stuff for me anyway. lol. Maybe if the case was fancy too..
PASSING..thank you for the review and saving this not rich girl’s $!
No problem, Nicole! 😉
Do you find this at all comparable to Dame Edna’s What a Dame? Thanks!
This is way less shimmery and lighter.
