MAC All I Want Lipstick
MAC All I Want Lipstick

MAC All I Want Lipstick ($17.00 for 0.10 oz.) is described as a “champagne shimmer.” It’s a light, peachy gold with warm undertones and a frosted, metallic sheen. MAC Live Long and Prosper (LE, $19.00) is darker (95% similar). Tom Ford Beauty Private Life (01) (LE, $53.00) is darker (95% similar). Dior Golden (065) (LE, $40.00) is less shimmery (95% similar). MAC Warm Companion (LE, $19.00) is less shimmery, lighter (90% similar). Tom Ford Beauty Graham (P, $36.00) is more shimmery, cooler (95% similar). NARS Redemption (LE, $29.00) is less shimmery, darker (90% similar). Maybelline White Gold (P, $7.49) is lighter, cooler (90% similar). Chanel Beige Dore (126) (LE, $37.00) is less shimmery, less pigmented (90% similar). Tom Ford Beauty Eddie (DC, $36.00) is less shimmery, cooler (90% similar). MAC Just Beaming (LE, $19.00) is less shimmery, less pigmented, cooler (90% similar). Tom Ford Beauty David (DC, $36.00) is less shimmery, lighter (90% similar). MAC Warm Ice (LE, $19.00) is cooler (90% similar). Tom Ford Beauty Lisa (LE, $36.00) is less shimmery, less pigmented (90% similar). NYX Exposed (P, $7.50) is darker (90% similar). ColourPop Lights Out (P, $6.00) is darker (90% similar). MAC Spoiled Fabulous (P, $19.00) is more shimmery, lighter, cooler (90% similar). ColourPop PYT (P, $6.00) is darker (85% similar). MAC Tanarama (LE, $19.00) is lighter, cooler (80% similar). Tom Ford Beauty Peter (LE, $36.00) is less shimmery, cooler (80% similar). Surratt Beauty Lame (P, $36.00) is more shimmery, lighter, less pigmented (80% similar). Top 20 dupes listed, see the rest. See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.

It had semi-sheer to semi-opaque coverage that went on fairly evenly, but the color did settle into lip lines after an hour and a half of wear. It was lightly creamy and glided on without tugging on the lip. The lipstick lasted closer to four hours in total and was slightly drying. I think this lipstick would be better for layering, either patted over a darker lipstick or topping with a pigmented gloss to add more shimmer.

I could DEFINITELY see this lightly applied over a darker or even deep nude shade to give a more matte or satin lipstick depth and shimmer!
Wondering how this would look on my NC40 skintone, though…? Although I don’t believe Mariah Carey is much darker than me, she does have much lighter hair and dark eyes, both of which help in pulling off paler lipstick.

I totally agree! I am still trying to decide whether I should purchase it or not before it sells out. I would have much rather seen some type of nude lipstick from MC. However, like a lot of people have been saying it can probably still look amazing over a nude lip or some type of lipstick. I just don’t dig a frost or sparkly lipstick alone. It is just not my thing.

Still big “ups” to MC for working with the BEST -MAC.

Funny you should say that. I thought it looked like Australia was missing out on this one. Strangely enough they have decided to release it here. On 1st February. *scratches head*

Wow, it’s very pretty on you! Love the cool winter shimmer (reminds me of the Guerlain holiday snowflake collection), but I have a feeling it’s going to wash me out unless I put a warmer beige lipstick underneath it. I’m surprised she didn’t make it a gloss, or include some bronzers/highlighters in this collection.

I think it looks nice. I like the gold sheen. But the packaging though. Why did they didnt they amp this up? I expected glitter packaging with her name sprawled across with a butterfly somewhere. Maybe turn the M into butterfly wings. Gees. Very meh.

I’m surprised to see all the downvotes on this! No takers? Bueller?

Well, I for one dig it. I love its more multidimensional frost. I’m weirdly tempted to bust out the slightly darker ring of lipliner look…

Yep. Considering buying it most seriously. Also, Mariah! 😀 Brb, going to go listen to My All and feel nostalgic…

Apologies to anyone who actually likes this but I think it’s really ugly. Reminds me of the frosty lipsticks we wore in the late 60’s, before makeup became as good quality as it is now and which left me with a long lived hatred of frosted anything (fortunately, the improved makeup of today has cured me of that hatred!)

Personally, not a shimmer fan nor am I a big fan of Mariah. That being said I do think this would look great with a mild, super-matte Smokey eye! Something really smudged out, mild, and super matte to juxtapose against the metallic nude of the lipstick. Just my opinion! I also wish it wasn’t drying but that can be remedied with the right prep.

Paz Avatar

I’m conflicted! It does look kind of old fashioned, and the color is too light to be worn by itself, but I think I like it. I would use it as a highlight on top of my matte lipsticks, or to brighten up an overly vampy lip color.

Ray Avatar

LOL, of course Mariah’s lipstick would be sparkly, gold, and out of touch with what everyone else is doing. It looks a lot better than I expected though.

Heads up — you typoed the link to maccosmetics.com in the post!

Wow, I actually really like this. But given my affection for gold lipsticks, the sidestep into champagne is something that also does it for me. One of my fave lipsticks is still the old UD Midnight Cowboy one.

Given the MAC online launches though, I doubt I’d be able to snag one, though.

Well I LOVE a frost… and this one looks SO pretty! Since I’m SURE PROs don’t get a discount some limited packaging would have been nice. But oh well. Colors like this are SO much fun to layer over lip liners (or these days any number of liquid mattes that everyone and their uncle has available). I hate having to stalk the MAC site hoping to get it before it sells out though. That’s never fun.

Looks like an Essence lipstick I bought by mistake. It’s so soft and balmy, not gritty, but so shimmery looking. I’ve only worn it inside 😀 lol

Eleanor Avatar

Thanks for the review, Christine. I actually liked this lipstick a lot, especially after seeing the gorgeous look you’ve created. I´ll definitely try to do it at home hehehe! xxx

Ginny Avatar

I’m kind of into it. I could see layering it over a nude brown or rusty color lip liner. What finish is it, though? I’m allergic to a few of MAC’s.

Amanda Avatar

I’m wondering how this compares to the MAC x Cinderella Free As a Butterfly lipstick – it looks more true gold than that one. I think this would be gorgeous over a very dark burgundy or plum lipstick.

KJH Avatar

This will be a big hit for a few, but a miss for many. I’ve got this corner covered with the d/c’d Besame Champagne. (70s?). It’s similar, less frosted, less OTT, far more understated. I’d look like an utter fool in this, trying to look young and trendy, and I’m a quarter century too old for that attempt!

I just got mine in the mail and so excited and than i opened it and the color is very light. Pictures online make it appear darker than it is. Still i thought ok lets see how it looks like on me. I look like i ate a powdered donut. Very disappointing. Definitely needs something else to balance it out. I have a med to light tan complexion with olive undertone.

Jen Avatar

I ended up ordering it and actually really like it. I don’t like to wear it alone, but paired with a darker liner (like Urban Decay 1993) looks amazing. I received many compliments today.

Nikki Avatar

Hi Christine! Love what you do, I don’t buy a makeup product without checking to see if reviewed it! Question, how would you compare this to MAC Tanarama? I am out of Tanarama (it is one of my faves).
