MAC Can’t Be Tamed Lipstick ($18.00 for 0.10 oz.) is described as a “sheer lime yellow [with a Cremesheen finish].” It is a semi-sheer, chartreuse with a natural sheen. It was somewhat uneven and a little streaky, while some color gathered into lip lines over time, though I’ll say it applied a lot better than I expected. This would work better over a lip liner or patted over another lipstick to layer and alter the color. The color lasted for two and a half hours on me. MAC Into the Madness (LE, $19.00) is darker (85% similar). Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Fragmented (DC, $18.00) is more shimmery, darker (80% similar). See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.

MAC Dance Off, Pants Off Lipstick ($18.00 for 0.10 oz.) is described as a “frosted hot pink [with a Frosted finish].” It’s a medium, fuchsia pink with cool undertones and multi-colored shimmer. It had semi-opaque color coverage that went on evenly and smoothly without dragging. The lipstick’s consistency was thin but not clingy. The color lasted well for four hours and was neither drying nor hydrating. NARS 413 BLKR (P, $27.00) is less glossy (95% similar). Wet 'n' Wild Fuchsia with Blue Pearl (P, $0.99) is more shimmery, brighter (95% similar). KVD Beauty Lullabye (DC, $21.00) is more shimmery, lighter, brighter (90% similar). Tom Ford Beauty Jessica (LE, $36.00) is less shimmery, darker, warmer (90% similar). Estee Lauder Thrill Seeker (420) (P, $32.00) is darker (90% similar). MAC Lickable (P, $19.00) is less shimmery, darker (85% similar). Stellar Beauty Disco Moon 03 (P, $22.00) is more shimmery, darker (90% similar). MAC Midnight Mambo (LE, $25.00) is lighter, brighter (90% similar). KVD Beauty Sexer (DC, $21.00) is lighter, brighter, less glossy (90% similar). MAC Pink Poodle (DC, $19.00) is lighter, brighter (85% similar). MAC Quite the Thing! (LE, $17.00) is lighter, warmer (85% similar). Marc Jacobs Beauty Flaming-Oh (330) (P, $26.00) is brighter, less glossy (85% similar). Tom Ford Beauty Rocco (DC, $36.00) is darker, warmer (85% similar). Fenty Beauty Gravity (LE, $19.00) is more shimmery, glossier (85% similar). MAC Pickled Plum (P, $19.00) is less shimmery, lighter (85% similar). Bite Beauty Fuchsia Frosting (P, $24.00) is more shimmery, darker, warmer (85% similar). Too Faced Lollipop (DC, $22.00) is more shimmery, lighter, brighter (90% similar). Too Faced Metallic Dream House (P, $21.00) is lighter, brighter (80% similar). ColourPop The Rabbit (P, $7.00) is darker, warmer, less glossy (80% similar). Maybelline Mesmerizing Magenta (P, $7.99) is warmer (80% similar). Top 20 dupes listed, see the rest. See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.

MAC Midnight Troll Lipstick ($18.00 for 0.10 oz.) is described as a “rich blue [with a Matte finish].” It’s a bright, medium-dark navy blue with strong, cool undertones (almost looks violet in some lighting conditions) with a satin finish. It isn’t matte to me, and it had enough slip in it that it doesn’t apply as evenly as a true matte might have in this hue. The color lasted for five hours and left a strong stain behind. The formula was neither drying nor hydrating. Makeup Geek Wild Child (P, $12.00) is darker (95% similar). Sephora Violet Vertigo (103) (P, $14.00) is less glossy (90% similar). Anastasia Primary #5 (Vol. 1) (PiP, ) is darker, warmer (90% similar). Anastasia Cobalt (P, $18.00) is darker, more muted, less glossy (90% similar). ColourPop Climax (P, $6.00) is darker, more muted, less glossy (80% similar). ColourPop Jellies (LE, $6.50) is warmer, less glossy (85% similar). NYX Sinful (P, $6.00) is warmer (80% similar). MAC Canal Blue (LE, $19.00) is less shimmery, lighter, warmer (80% similar). KVD Beauty Bruno (LE, $20.00) is more shimmery, darker (80% similar). See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.

These three lipsticks are from the upcoming Good Luck Trolls collection, which launches online on July 28th and in-stores on August 4th.

Me too, I really hope it’s opaque because it seems like MAC does all these sheer yellows and greens and it’s like WHYYYYY??? Who ever wanted to wear a sheer yellow or green??? If someone wants to wear green lipstick, they want to actually wear GREEN lipstick!!! ?

This looks like a fun collection! I like Midnight Troll, but I have CP Climax already, so I’m good. I’m waiting until fall/winter (or cold foggy day) to wear it

I have a new strategy when it comes to unconventional lip colors, like blues. I’m going to buy maybe 1 blue lipstick, then just mix it with different color lip pencils in purple and gray, so I can come up with blue purples or gray blues. I only wear blue lipstick once in a while, and I don’t want 6 of them sitting unused in my stash before they go bad. But lip pencils last forever, and they tend to be cheaper than lipsticks. I have some lip pencils that are probably 15 years old, and they work just fine, and with a lip pencil, I can mix any combo I want, to make it work with my skintone and coloring. Same with gray. Instead of waiting for the perfect grayish pink lipstick to come along (which might never happen), I can just take a dusty pink lipstick and mix it with a gray lip pencil to come up with my perfect color.

I do not understand the sheer yellow/lime lipsticks a lot of companies keep coming out with. In the tube the color looks amazing and unique, but once you get it on the lips its awful. Why not just make it fully pigmented?

I think I will buy the pink one just because of the packaging. Unfortunately the lipsticks Are really dissapointing.
I Love the colour of the packaging but it would Look Even better without the Troll on it.

Blue lipstick is becoming fashionable I see! So many brands are coming out with their own. I don’t have anything quite like Midnight Troll. On my wishlist you go! ? I completely agree with you about it not being matte though

I love the packaging, actually! It’s a shame, though, I’m not super attracted to the lipstick shades. The chartreuse is a bit odd, being that sheer, and I don’t really need any more bright pink or blue lipstick. Especially considering how little I wear the latter. I need to figure out how to wear more blue since I’ve got some, haha!

My sister loved trolls and had quite a collection; shame she’s not into make up, though. BTW, I like Dance Off Pants Off 🙂

I’m in love with the package of this collection but I really don’t know why mac have beauty powders and I don’t like glosses, but at least I have a lipstick color I like! Midnight troll, I hope I can get it!
