I truly wish they would have picked a different name for the palette. I hate that they used that title b/c the album was so heavily influenced by R. Kelly, and he preyed on Aaliyah. I get why they did name it that, her first album is called Age Ain’t Nothin’ But A Number, but I still think there was a better choice.

Beyond ecstatic that this collection has come to fruition! Having joined the petition movement a few years ago in an attempt to get MAC to do this, there is a sense of mission accomplished. Now, it’s just a matter of seeing that this was done proper justice by MAC. Thing is, since I fought for it, I’m buying almost everything. 2-3 lipsticks (Try Again, More Than A Woman and maybe Hot Like…) , 3 Lipglasses (Brooklyn Born, 1In A Million and Li Li’s Motor City) , Baby Girl bronzer, $Age Ain’t Nothing eyeshadow palette, Nevermore lip pencil.
Ooouuuie! I’m so excited about this!

All of this^^^^
Aaliyah was my favourite artist. One in a million still is my jam.
Love the collection.
Thank you MAC. Thank you!

I haven’t bought any MAC in years, but I love the look of this collection. If it performs well, I may be buying a few items. They look lovely, and MAC can do a good shadow and lip stick. I hope they come through this time.

I *love* the shade selection, but I know this one will fly off the shelves, and I can’t be bothered to track it down… I honestly don’t know how well this collection represents her aesthetic, as I was never a fan/follower (not a genre I’ve ever been into), but at the very least it seems there’s at least a few pieces that would suit several skintones.

Meh! I don’t understand why they didn’t expand the Bronze range for this collection.? This is the celebrated African-American artist and only a handful of skin tones are going to be able to use that bronzer.
I think the packaging is really pretty but the collection itself isn’t really pulling me in. Typical red family shades with two different shades and a neutral eyeshadow palette. With Mac’s recent record of failed bronzers I am almost not wanting to get that particular item .

To be fair she had a lighter skintone, based on what I’ve read on her makeup artist’s favourite products to use on her I have a darker skintone and I’m not African American. I don’t recall any particularly bronzey looks in her work so it would make more sense to have it as a gold powder rather than a true warming bronzer. Think happy thoughts!

My name is Mariella and I’m 100 years old and I’ve no idea who Aaliyah is but I get so nervous about every MAC collection like this – they’re generally so badly executed but that doesn’t stop everyone and her sister from scrambling to buy the products. That one red lipstick looks nice but not all that special and, again, as I don’t know who this person is, I’m happy to make do with a “pre-dupe”.

She was a singer in the late-90s/early-2000s, and was killed in some type of accident while still very young. She was beginning to branch out into acting when she died, and was working on “Queen of the Damned”, which was when I pretty much became familiar with her. At first there was debate whether or not the film could be completed, and how they’d do so, but they ended up using her brother to stand in, and some “cut” footage for other shots.

I think the More Than A Woman lipstick will be what I’ll pick up from this. There’s nothing truly unique about the colors in the collection but I really want a piece from this for collecting reasons.

Thank you for posting this. I am so excited! I have been advocating for MAC to do this tribute for a while.

I haven’t tried to get a limited edition product in a while so I am out of training (staying up late and stalking websites). But, I loved Aaliyah and I must have this collection. Wish me luck.
