MAC Weekend Getaway Lip & Cheek Colour
MAC Weekend Getaway Casual Colour Lip & Cheek Colour ($20.00 for 0.43 fl. oz.) is described as a “cool rose.” For some reason, I really want to describe this as a strawberry pink! It’s a subtly cool-toned medium-dark pink. As a blush, it add a pop of pink or built up to more true-to-pan color. Tom Ford Wicked looks a bit more plum. MAC Lovecloud is a smidgen lighter. Illamasqua Seduce is a darker pink. MAC Feeling Flush has more purple in it. Urban Decay Afterglow is very similar. On lips, it’s an opaque subtly blue-based medium pink. MAC Please Me is more yellow-toned. Le Metier de Beaute Fiji is less cool-toned. Revlon Carnation is darker. MAC Cheers All Around is just slightly pinker. Rimmel Dizzy is a smidgen darker.
For an in-depth review of the formula, please see this post. The main takeaways were that as a blush, this yields a dewy finish that might be just the wrong side of dewy for some, but it may be the perfect recipe for those with drier skin; as a lip color, the finish is more like a satin matte, and it has a slightly clingy nature that works as a way to make the color lightweight and very natural-looking.
When I trialed this yesterday for wear, it wore for seven hours as a blush and five and a half hours as a lip color, which was definitely on the longer end out of the eight shades of the new formula. Weekend Getaway isn’t so cool-toned that it won’t flatter warmer complexions; there’s a subtle brightness in the overall color that makes it seem really effortless and appropriate for summer looks. Out of the eight, this one was my favorite–and it so pleased me to find it was one of the longer-wearing shades, too.

So, this color isn’t necessarily for darker skin tones?
@JasmineSmith What do you mean? This shade would be wearable for any skin tone.
I mean, that I’m looking for the best Lip and Cheek Colour the will suit dark skin in this collection. Which do you best recommend?
@Christine (Temptalia) I mean, that I’m looking for the best Lip and Cheek Colour the will suit dark skin in this collection. Which do you best recommend?
@JasmineSmith Keep It Casual would be lovely on darker skin tones!
@Christine (Temptalia) Thanks! 🙂 That’s what I was thinking.
@JasmineSmith I’m a darker skin tone and these type of pinks look great on me.
@JasmineSmith I’m a darker skin tone (caramel colored). It really depends on the shade of pink but I think this will work for you.
@KolorKoded I’m a 8.0 in MAC/ NW 46. I’m trying to determine which color in this collection would best suit my skintone.
@JasmineSmith Go with keep it casual like Christine suggested. 🙂
Christine, did you happen to try applying a dust of powder over the top of these on the cheeks? This is a really pretty colour and I’m tempted, but they look a little glowy on me. I have combination skin so my cheeks are normal, but I’m wondering if I cover the worst of the ‘wetness’ with setting powder.
I know you said you used your fingers to apply; do you think a 130 would be good for working the colour in?
Thank you for all of your hard work this week. Two collections at once!
You can definitely tamp down the “glowy” factor by using translucent powder, but I definitely recommend translucent over colored. 130 works well 🙂
I think I’m in loveeeee. I have a thing for pink lips. This is the perfect pink I think I have to snag this!
What a beautiful pink! Can’t wait for it to be released in Australia!
Thanks to your reviews, I decided to get this over relaxtion ! I also got the wine red one as well.
Happy!!!
hi christine! 🙂 thanks for the reviews, but i dont like how these look on cheeks at all. they all look so glowy to me, 🙁
i also have a question for you: i have no mac products at all, and i want to get one (at least) soon. what do you think should be my first mac? and please no brushes, foundation or concealer, I have plenty of those. Thank you! 🙂
I like the Pearlglide Eyeliners a lot! Those recently became permanent. There are definitely some awesome shades of lipstick/eyeshadow/blush in the range, but it’s hard to say just one without knowing more about your preferences!
looks cute on you 😀
hi christine! will this be okay on nc30 skin tone? what shade would you recommend? 🙂
Yes, I think so! 🙂 For NC30, most of the shades would work – something like Lazy Sunday might be too pale. I am about NC30!
You need to update the bottom Dupes section. You’ve got the Out For Fun info here.
Hi Christine, once again i kindly would love your advice,I’m trying to decide which Casual Colour collection lip & cheek colour to buy.Its between Weekend getaway and relaxation.
Now the problem i find, is most days i wake up with natual brightish red lips, which i sometimes find it difficult with lipsticks/lipgloss colours to show up on my lips.What would be your advice on which colour would work best out of the 2? And is there any ideas of any Lip stains that are available that actually work? (to cover my lip colour , to the put a lipgloss/lipstick over the top.Many Thanks, and really hope to hear from you shortly, Thank you
@Carla25 Probably Relaxation – it’s not going to look at light, but since it is so light, it will kind of tone down your natural lip color. I think Weekend Getaway would be less noticeable on.
YSL’s lip stain works decently, but it will be hard to have a stain cover your natural lip color!
@Christine (Temptalia)
Hiya, Thanks for your reply. I’ve ordered Relaxation so have my fingers crossed. With the lip stains, i thought maybe id try one to see if it tones down my natural lip colour…do you think a stain would tone my natural lip colour down even just a little? Is it worth a try? Ill have a little look at YSL lip stains, what kinda colour would u recommend? Thanks
