MAC Wash & Dry Technakohls Reviews, Photos, Swatches
MAC Wash & Dry Technakohl Liners
MAC Coin Operated Technakohl Liner ($17.50 for 0.012 oz.) is described as a “metal grey with silver pearl.” It’s a warm, gray-taupe with a pearly sheen. It had semi-sheer pigmentation in one pass, which was only buildable to semi-opaque coverage. It did have more creaminess to it than other Technakohls, though the texture was more wax-like than truly creamy. It lasted for seven and a half hours on me. See comparison swatches / compare dupes side-by-side.
MAC Colour Matters Technakohl Liner ($17.50 for 0.012 oz.) is described as a “lime.” It’s a brightened, yellowed chartreuse with a matte finish. It had semi-opaque color coverage that went on fairly well, though it could be creamier and more intense. It wore well for seven hours on me. This shade has been released previously. See comparison swatches / compare dupes side-by-side.
MAC Practice Makes Perfect Technakohl Liner ($17.50 for 0.012 oz.) is described as a “deep blue-green.” It’s a muted, medium-dark blue with a hint of silver sparkle over a mostly matte finish. It had semi-sheer pigmentation that didn’t build to much more coverage than that. The texture was very dry, stiff, and difficult to apply evenly. On me, it wore well for eight hours. This shade has been released before, though the version from this collection is much drier, and subsequently, worse. See comparison swatches / compare dupes side-by-side.
MAC Sudsy Technakohl Liner ($17.50 for 0.012 oz.) is described as a “marine blue.” It’s a blackened navy blue with lighter navy blue pearl that brightens the overall color. It had semi-sheer color payoff in one stroke, and it was fairly buildable and managed to get to mostly opaque coverage with two to three layers. The texture is a little thin and dry, so it can take some layering to get even coverage as well. Applied, it lasted for eight hours on me. See comparison swatches / compare dupes side-by-side.
The Wash & Dry Collection will launch online on May 14th and in-stores on May 21st.

What a bummer that these didn’t perform better! I was hoping to pick up Coin Operated or Sudsy, but think maybe I’ll take a pass now…
Have you used the Technakohl formula before? If you like the formula enough, maybe you’ll still like them!
This makes me sad 🙁 Awesome shades but the execution is poor.
MAC does know how to pick a color!
The colors are pretty, but there are too many better performers from other brands to deal with the hassle they present 🙁
Totally agree! 🙁 For a twist-up/mechanical eyeliner, Stila’s are so much easier to use!
Too many excellent dupes to choose from.
It was more dupable than I expected!
Yep, after seeing the initial swatches, knew these weren’t going to get a good rating. Coin Operated had potential – a beautiful pewter mix of brown/gray but this version looks all washed out (pun intended), might check out the Sephora dupe Starry Sky
Hope the Sephora dupe will work 🙂
EEk..easy passes! This collection hasn’t been too impressive!
Sadly, it hasn’t 🙁
Any idea for a dupe for Sudsy? That one was the one I had my eye on. Have a great weekend, Christine!

I had a feeling these weren’t going to perform too well when I saw those struggle swatches lol. I love Colour Matters though. That one is definitely coming home with me!
Chartreuse eyeliner is pretty!
Too bad! But hey new MJ liners soon!
Haha!
Agree. That seems like a better place to the spend the money.
I was hoping Sudsy would be better….but since it’s not, I’ll stick with my beloved Sephora pencils.
Sephora’s pencils are SO much better in every way.
Glad I got Chlorafil, which gives a reasonably good performance (have it on today, in fact!). The others are highly dupable, and as others have said, Noir Navy or Midnight in Paris MJ liners would both be a better bet than Sudsy.
I’d be more disappointed about Practice Makes Perfect if it had actually been a proper marine blue. I’d love to find a good, solid marine blue!
I can hang in with the chartreuse shade not being 100% perfect, if only because it’s not a common color (only MAC seems to have a bunch of them, haha).
So, it will be Marc Jacobs for me….I was thinking about getting some of these, but, I’ll pass too.
I definitely would go MJB if that was in your budget compared to these!
More bad news!
🙁
Not great performances for such lovely colours. Especially when you could buy the Sephora ones at a little over half the price…..
Exactly!!
oh god.. they’re really not nice.
LOL!
