MAC Viva Glam Taraji P. Henson 2 Lipstick & Lipglass Reviews, Photos, Swatches
Viva Glam Taraji P. Henson 2
MAC Viva Glam Taraji P Henson 2 Lipstick ($17.00 for 0.10 oz.) is a deep, reddish brown with warmer undertones and multi-colored, metallic shimmer–a mix of green, gold, and copper. It had good pigmentation that was buildable to full coverage. The consistency was lightweight, thin but not clingy, and smooth, which made it easy to maneuver across the lips. The lipstick went on evenly and lasted for five hours on me, while the formula was neither drying nor hydrating.

MAC Lipstick comes in a variety of finishes, and the pigmentation and wear tend to be dependent on the finish. The sheer finishes, like Lustres, tend to wear for only a couple of hours and have sheer coverage (as designed) and are non-drying.
Some of the original Matte shades have a stiffer, drier formula, while newer ones have a more velvety, silicone-feel to them, and the latter are creamier, more comfortable to wear, and easier to apply, but most Matte shades are quite pigmented and long-wearing, though some are drying.
The Amplified and Satin finishes tend to have good pigmentation, lightly creamy to moderately creamy consistencies with a bit of shine, and moderate to long wear with deeper, richer shades wearing longer. The Frost and Metallic finishes have the most variance between shades with coverage ranging from semi-sheer to opaque with average wear and non-drying to slightly drying formulas. All MAC lipsticks are vanilla-scented but have no discernible taste.

Viva Glam Taraji P. Henson 2
MAC Viva Glam Taraji P Henson 2 Lipglass ($17.00 for 0.10 oz.) is a medium-dark gold with warm, brown undertones and lighter gold flecks of shimmer and some sparkle. The texture was smooth, light-medium in weight, and moderately tacky, though I think if you have not tried MAC’s newer Lipglasses (over the last few years), you might find them a lot easier to wear, as they do not feel as thick overall. The gloss was lightly hydrating on me over the four and a half hours it lasted for. The downside, though, was the gloss wasn’t described as sheer, and the Lipglass formula is supposed to be pigmented.

Formula Overview
$21.00/0.1 oz. - $210.00 Per Ounce
The Lipglass formula is supposed to be “pigmented, very shiny and can impart subtle or dramatic color” that can be worn “on its own, over lip pencil or lipstick” and will “condition lips.” MAC could use an update on the description as some shades are more pigmented than others but several are sheerer and likely intended to be that way. The formula has a very glossy, high-shine finish with a light-medium weight and moderate tackiness.
I have found that newer Lipglasses (over the last couple of years) are smoother and not quite as tacky as the formula was many years ago. They wear from three to six hours on me and are usually lightly hydrating. MAC recently updated the shade range and packaging for the range (though the formula was said to be unchanged), so worth noting is that with that packaging change came a reduction in quantity to 0.10 fl. oz. (was 0.17 fl. oz.), which may matter for some but not everyone.

Not sure I can wear the color, but I’ll be placing an order anyway. I think the VG program is amazing. I give away the lipsticks I can’t wear.
I hope it works for you, Nicole!
I think the Viva Glam campaign is great, and I can imagine this shade looking really stunning on some people.
Though I really like the shimmer of this one, I just wouldn’t buy it for myself, even if I were still buying MAC, which I’m not.
Everyone else, enjoy, by all means!
Easy skip then!
I think I like it better without the glass but I can’t do bronze lips anyway.
Aw, darn 🙁
The lipstick is absolutely gorgeous! Wow!!!
It has a lovely sheen!
Oh I love the lipstick 🙂
Yay!
I was thinking initially that these look boring but seeing your swatches I’ve reconsidered my position on them! I think the lipstick more though since I dont seem to get much wear out of glosses.
They are pretty 🙂
More interested in the lipstick than I thought I would be! Will these be in stores or just online?
Should be everywhere!
What a wonderful surprise! Had no idea that you had gotten these yet!
And the lipstick is so fall appropriate and simply stunning! Worn with the Lipglass over it, has me won over. Question is; do I actually *need* this Lipglass since I have Oh Baby? Hmm…?
You could probably skip the gloss 😉
Oh wow! Just adore that lipstick – gorgeous shade.
It is!
I absolutely love these colors and I can’t wait to get them both!!!
Yayyy!
Both are super pretty, and it’s a worthy cause!
They are!
The shades look lovely. I have Aperture, so might check out the gloss in this collection. Both shades flatter you, Christine!
Thank you, Tracey!
So impatiently waiting for this bronzy goodness to release… Taraji seems to have great taste… loved her previous lipstick as well…
Can’t wait for you to get it!
Beautiful! And great for fall might have to get those!
Agreed! 🙂
A very pretty shade, but far too dark and brown for me. 🙂
Darn! 🙁
This lipstick shade looks so gorgeous! Debating whether to get it or not…I love gold glitter so I’m probably getting the lipglass.
Enjoy the gloss, R!
I can’t wait to get my hands on these items!
Woohoo!! Enjoy ’em!
Thank you for reviewing these and providing the dupes. I was on the fence about these products but seeing the swatches helped a lot. The lipstick color reminds me of many browns lipsticks that I wore in the 90s and the lipglass seems very close to Oh Baby. You saved me money!
I just searched these myself. I can’t pull off the lipstick, but it looks amazing on you! I purchased the gloss. It is sheer, but it is lovely on my pale, neutral complexion. Love the campaign!!
When are you going to review the new Nicki collection as well as the limited edition nude lipsticks that come out this week. I always love looking at your reviews and grades before going to the store the first day that it comes out.
I’m sorry – I don’t have them.
Hi! I just got the lipstick, and it’s not a color I would normally wear, but it’s quite nice!
Can you share the eyeshadows you used for your pics in this post? It’s stunning on you!!
Sorry, I don’t remember anymore!
