MAC Superb & Oh, Darling! Extra Dimension Skinfinish Review, Photos, Swatches
Superb
MAC Superb Extra Dimension Skinfinish ($33.00 for 0.31 oz.) is a muted, medium-dark rosy brown with warm undertones and a metallic sheen. The color seemed to be slightly rosier than the last version of this I had (from a limited edition release). It had excellent color coverage that applied evenly to bare skin. The texture was smooth to the touch without being dry or dusty in the pan. It was easy to apply at full coverage and then diffuse the color or to use a lighter touch for less intense shine. The finish, while nearly metallic, did not accentuate the texture of my skin. This shade wore well for nine hours on me.
The Extra Dimension Skinfinish formula is supposed to give “the perfect glow to the skin” with a “creamy powder formula” that wears for “10 hours.” It’s a powder highlighter that I’d describe as a moderate to intense highlighter, and they come in varying hues with some that might work as highlighting blushes/bronzers are on some skin tones and true highlighters on other skin tones. In general, the formula is very pigmented, blendable, and wears around eight to nine hours on me.

Oh, Darling!
MAC Oh, Darling! Extra Dimension Skinfinish ($33.00 for 0.31 oz.) is a light-medium gold with warm, yellow undertones and a metallic sheen. It had good color payoff paired with a smooth, blendable consistency–soft enough to be effortless to use on the skin but not so soft that it became dusty or powdery in the pan. The texture was what made it versatile: I could pick-up less product with a lighter hand for a sheerer coverage, or I could use a normal amount of product and get more intense sheen and color payoff. There was a strong sheen, but it did not emphasize my skin’s texture. The highlighter wore well for eight and a half hours on me.

Oh man, Superb is (not surprisingly) calling me. I thought I would have closer dupes! I love colors like this one because they multitask as highlight and eyeshadow for me. I’m glad these are permanent. I don’t need it urgently but I would love to pick it up if MAC runs another sale!
Wow! I’m surprised you don’t have a dupe 😉
I have TF Moodlight and Bobbi Brown Afternoon Glow, but those arent the closEST dupes, you know? All at least 10% different, right? ? I thought it would actually come closer to Modern Mercury, I’ll have to check the two out side by side. Honestly I can’t get enough of colors/ products like this, I love them and they are really useable and wearable for me.
Yay! Am getting this in place of paying crazy eBay prices for Whisper of Gilt.
Perfect!
Well, I missed out on Oh Darling when it first launched, but by the time they brought it back, I have dupes galore! MAC missed the boat on that one, should’ve made it permanent sooner, so they could capture all the sales before all the copy cats came out
Definitely a shade that is easily duped now!
I have loved every single one you’ve reviewed so far. LOL. Maybe time for a treat yo’ self moment as I want at least 2-4 of these new shades.
They are beautiful! 🙂 At least, they are permanent, so you don’t have to rush!
Is the Oh Darling the same as the previous one released?
I didn’t notice any differences.
Superb is so awesome, I’m sure tempted by this one!
It is a nice one!
I knew it! When I was in Nordstrom’s this Monday, I was inexplicably drawn to having to walk over and start swatching these, and I immediately knew that Superb looked just like my brand new pan of CP Might Be! Therefore, I don’t need it *yet* because Might Be is the most perfect highlighting blush shade I’ve ever had.
Might Be <3
Superb is on my list! is it even close to VB Mercury highlighter, i tried comparing your swatches from where i am sitting they look pretty much the same?
thanks
Please click “view all dupes” – we only show the top 10 – but there are often many more than that! It’s listed there already! 🙂
Thanks i ordered it today lol
These are SO pretty! I don’t need anything like these 2 highlighters/blushes but I am absolutely pins and needles for the pinky cool blushes in this release. Christine, are all the products permanent?
Yes, they’re permanent!
Superb is a BEAUTY!! Oh goodness!!
Ill have to go check these out!
It is a lovely hue!
I’m so happy that these are permenant additions to the MAC range. I bought ‘Oh darling’ when it was Limited Edition but ‘Superb’ looks great too. I love all things ‘Extra Dimension.’ ?
Me too! It’s about time!
I don’t ahve any of these, I mean at all so I think I must go and check them out in person. I’ll have to do a bit of waiting though as it seems my money has got wings at the moment.
Thankfully, they’re permanent 😀
I don’t know what it is with superb…The swatches look amazing and it seems it should work for deeper skintones but it looks so ashy and stark when I swatch in person ?????
Oh, no! That is good to know but sad to hear 🙁
These two look beautiful, look terrific on you.
Thank you, Betty!
Gorgeous shades, good prices and great ratings – well done MAC!
Hi Christine!! You look so pretty!! The lipstick that you are wearing on the pictures is awesome what is it ?? Big kisses from Brazil!!
