MAC Sunday Afternoon Pearlmatte Face Powder
MAC Vera: Sunday Afternoon Pearlmatte Face Powder
MAC Sunday Afternoon Pearlmatte Face Powder ($28.00 for 0.42 oz.) is described as “clean bright pink, bright clean fuchsia, soft pale pink with white pearl.” The first shade is a cotton candy pink w ith blue undertones and a semi-matte finish. The middle shade is a dark pink with a subtle pearled sheen. The bottom shade is a pink-tinted white with a frosted shimmer-sheen. Together, they create a shimmery light-medium pink with subtle cool undertones. NARS New Order is cooler toned. MAC Blonde is similar in the pink tones, but not quite the same together. I feel like there are more dupes, but I couldn’t think of anything else.
This shade produces much more color on the cheeks compared to Flower Fantasy. It has the same shimmery finish, which may or may not be what you’re looking for. If you want a softer finish, use less of the bottom shade, which contributes most of the shimmer as well as lightens the overall color. I wore this shade to test out the wear, and it managed to hang on for around six and a half hours before it started to fade and look patchy. Â The texture is soft and smooth without being powdery.

Oh, no. Now I want both of them. They’re prettier than I thought they’d be.
Me too
I love the lighter pink in this powder, but overall I prefer Flower Fantasy. I’m going to have to talk myself out of this one because I shouldn’t spend almost $60 these two powders. Ugh.
Beautiful! Christine if you have to pick between this one or the warm tone, which one would you recomend on a Nc20-25 skin tone? My skin tone is very close to yours. Thank you.
Either is suitable – I think it just matters what you’re going for. If you want a more natural shade, Flower Fantasy. If you want more of a rosy blush, Sunday Afternoon.
These are so pretty but I think I’m over MAC blushes unless the produces more Blush Ombres. ^_^
this looks incredible on you, christine!
I think these will be great for lighter lovelies. May look ashy on my WOC skin.
What eyeliner are you wearing in the photo? It’s beauutiful!! 🙂
MAC Undercurrent
Do you think this looks close to Barbie Pear Blossom beauty powder?
That might be a close match perhaps?
Pearl Blossom is lighter and sooo much more refined in the shimmer.
This is so pretty on you! I wasn’t originally tempted until I saw the last photo. Must check it out against Narcisse at the counter.
I bought this one this morning, so pretty 🙂
I dident think I would want this one.. I think I actually like this one better !
I thought these weren’t available until the 16th. Why are they coming out online almost 2 weeks early?
I’m sorry, I can’t tell you! I haven’t even heard word back from MAC about it.
thanks anyway. I called my local store and Nordstrom and they said the information that they received at update was that the collection will still come out in stores on the 16th and that the last collection they did probably sold out relatively quickly which is the reason for the early online release date. I wanted to make sure I wouldn’t miss it so I bought what I wanted already.
Christine,
You look beautiful in this photo. I noticed you try different foundations and powders but whatever you used in this is gorgeous on YOU! Please tell me what foundation you used and setting powder because it made you look absolutely flawless. Please, please tell….. I’ll go out and buy it.
Your biggest fan,
April
Thank you, April! I am not sure what foundation I used – I just grabbed one of the ten I had out, lol!
I bought this the other day, and may I say, its GORGEOUS!! I decided against getting both powders and Sunday Afternoon is just beautiful. I love it to death, its competing with my staple blush already!! I also grabbed Hush, Hush tendertone and Innocence, Beware! Lipstick because I missed out on both of then in the past collections. They are amazing!! I am head over heels in love with the Vera and Shop/Cook MAC collections!!!
A very nice finish, one of the best highlighting ones I’ve seen 🙂
this is so pretty on you. i have to have this now. lol
OMG, SOOOOOOO PRETTY!
Lovely on you, Christine! Is this meant to stand alone, like a blush? Or is it designed to be layered on top of your fave pink blush? And is it a subtle glow or too glitterbombish? Just love your reviews. 😉
Hi Mindy,
You could do either, both, or a combination. It’ll also depend on your skin tone – these show up as a bit of a blusher on me (I’m on the lighter side of medium, NC25) but could easily be a highlighter if I used less product. It’s not a subtle glow, but it’s not a glitter bomb – it’s more of a shimmer-sheen, so you don’t get lots of glitter particles, but because it has a heavier sheen, it’s not what I’d call subtle.
WOW! This is so pretty! I love a bright pink blush!
can these face powder be used as eye shadows?
At your own risk, sure!
