MAC Shape the Future Extra Dimension Skinfinish
MAC Shape the Future Extra Dimension Skinfinish ($30.00 for 0.31 oz.) is described as a “pastel pink with iridescence” and “soft brick with light shimmer.” When swirled together, the resulting color is a darkened orange with reddish undertones and a pinky shimmer-sheen. The lighter color, on its own, is a warm-toned beige with a shimmery finish. The darker color is a darkened orange with red undertones and a frosted finish. NARS Gina is lighter. MAC Fiery Impact is redder, while MAC Blazing Haute is lighter and more orange–if you mixed the two together, you would get close to this (but not as shimmery). Illamasqua Expose is similar in color but is matte in finish. The lighter shade is a bit darker and warmer than NARS Nico. While the darker shade is more shimmery than MAC Fiery Impact but lighter and less red than NARS Liberte.
Of the three Skinfinishes, Shape the Future was the least frosted/metallic, which was a good thing, because it meant that it didn’t emphasize pores as much as the other two did. There is still some emphasis, but it is subtle and not as noticeable. Both colors of the product are very pigmented, so there will be no fear for darker complexions on whether it will show up or not. Lighter skin tones, especially those who tend to fear reddish blushes, may want to use a light hand or stippling brush to apply the color with more control. The texture is slightly dry but doesn’t appear dry on; and it blends and buffs into the skin nicely. It lasted eight and a half hours on me (though it is supposed to last for ten) when I tested it.
P.S. — MAC still lists it as coming soon, while Nordstrom will let you order it now but it is backordered (approximate ship date of 4/19).

I swatched this one on my hand when I went to nordstrom yesterday, and it was a little too orange for me, so I got double definition instead.
I was “meh” about it until I saw the swatches. Gorgeous! This seems like a more wearable orange blush than Nars Taj Mahal, which I rarely wear because it takes work to get just the right amount, plus TM doesn’t have sheen to it. I might have to pick this up!
So glad you got to review this before it’s *officially available – thank you!
Do you feel this is *very different from Alpine Bronze from Apres Chic? I saw you noted brown/red based?
I think this is a lot darker/more orange! http://www.temptalia.com/mac-alpine-bronze-mineralize-blush-review-photos-swatches
Thank you!
Christine, this looks very pretty on you!
What are you wearing on your lips? Love it.
MAC Pure Decoration!
Very pretty! I like this one alot!
Hey hun, which brush do you think is best to apply these?
For a lighter application, the 188, for a normal application, the 116!
I can’t believe how orange it is because it doesn’t look that way in the pan!
ya i got mine and was thinking the exact same ting
I love this!! It looks really pretty on you, and I think it will me as well!! Thanks for all the reviews you do they are really helpful!!
It looks gorgeous on your with the highlighter and blush swirled together! Such a great look for summer! :]
This is gorgeous in the pan. I love how it looks on you, Christine 🙂
It didn’t look quite so orange on me when I swatched it in-store yesterday, but I opted to go with Double Definition. I’m thinking about going back and grabbing the other 2 options if I can…just to have it in my kit.
i actually really like this on you christine! what are you wearing on your lips? also, i am LOVING that scorch eyeliner!! it looks really close to UD honey here which makes me so happy…are they similar in your opinion?
Honey is yellower and golden – Scorch is darker, more coppery!
This was the one thing I wanted from the collection but that is a lot oranger than I thought it would be; I expected it to a bit redder/pink. Kind of glad I got the NARS multiple I’ve been wanting and that this it wasn’t available when the collection went online because I’m really not looking for anything that orange.
I could have sworn I posted a comment already. I don’t think it is flattering. Every time I see very orangey blushes on you, I just think it doesn’t work. It will probably work with someone with different coloring.
hi i want your opinion i do have the three extra dimension from the mac past collection but i i interesting in get one of this should i spend my money on this coll, i mean on this skinfinish i own superb, whisper of gilt and glorify
I think you could skip!
I tried the entire line of these products the other day & was far from impressed with all of them. The sales guy kept trying to push them on me. I just told him they.were no different on the skin than Physician’s Formula blushes, the ones with the hearts on them. So not worth wasting money on.
Do you remember what your wearing on your lips here? It’s not listed but looks gorgeous
I believe it’s MAC Pure Decoration!
when you apply it as one colour, do you use it as a highlighter or a blush?
Juts depends on your skin tone!
This looks very pretty as a light on my NC15 skin, but I tell you, it shines as an eyeshadow. I buffed it in directly over the top of MAC Patina, with Nars El dorado in the inner corner and a little smidgen of MAC Espresso in the crease and my god, it looks absolutely stunning!
