Prissy Princess

MAC Prissy Princess MAC Girls Personality Palette ($39.50 for TBA oz.) is a set lighter neutrals with one darker neutral that runs more neutral-to-warm than very-warm-toned. For someone who prefers lighter neutrals that are buildable and likely uses primer regularly, it might be worth considering, but with a sea of neutral palettes to choose from, there are many others of higher quality.

The palette features a new eyeshadow formula with four finishes–Satin Shine, Smooth Pearl, Foiled Shadow, and Creamy Matte–that are supposed to have a “creamy, silky texture with superior colour payoff” along with a powder highlighter that’s described as “lightweight” and has “just the right amount of pearl and pop.”

Overall, the formula isn’t night and day from the brand’s standard powder eyeshadow (and did not seem like they reinvented powder eyeshadow!), but it was noticeably softer, more finely-milled, and the Foiled finishes were denser and very sparkly–almost like an amped up take on their Lustre eyeshadows. The Creamy Matte finish seemed to have more pigmentation and blendability than of the brand’s firmer mattes have had. Unfortunately, the quality of each shade varied enough that it was not a slam dunk formulation, but I liked the direction of the formula but would like to see better consistency.

Colour Me Spoiled

Colour Me Spoiled is a pale pink with neutral-to-warm undertones and a matte finish. It had semi-opaque pigmentation with a soft, slightly powdery texture. This shade wore well for seven hours on me.

Sweet Tart

Sweet Tart is a light-medium peachy pink with warm undertones and a frosted sheen. The consistency was firmer and more difficult to pickup with a brush, as the eyeshadow yielded a measly semi-sheer level of coverage that did not build up at all. I found that this shade added just a sheen to the skin rather than noticeable color. What I could see on the lid seemed to last for seven hours.

Eternal Optimist

Eternal Optimist is a soft, golden brown with warm undertones and a frosted sheen. It had good color coverage with a soft, blendable texture that wasn’t too soft or too firmly pressed in the pan, so it was easy to work with. The color started to fade on me after seven and a half hours.

Too Good to Be True

Too Good to Be True is a light, golden pewter with a glittery, metallic sheen. It had semi-sheer pigmentation, which was only buildable when applied with a dampened brush or over an adhesive base, which helped more of the glittery bits stick tot he base color. This seemed to have a weaker base compared to other shades in this type of a finish. This shade lasted for seven and a half hours but had moderate fallout.

Prissy Princess

Prissy Princess is a light-medium, golden taupe with warm undertones and a matte finish. It had medium, buildable pigmentation but had a very powdery texture as it was so soft that it just kicked up a ton of product in the pan. This shade applied better over a primer than bare skin. It lasted for six and a half hours on me.

Fabness

Fabness is a soft, golden taupe with warmer undertones and a satin sheen. It had medium color coverage that was buildable to semi-opaque coverage. The eyeshadow felt soft and smooth to the touch, and it blended out easily. This shade stayed on well for seven hours on me.

Spoil Yourself

Spoil Yourself is a dark brown with neutral-to-warm undertones and a matte finish. It had semi-opaque pigmentation that was buildable to full coverage with two layers. The consistency was smooth to the touch but wasn’t as blendable as I expected based on the way it felt. The eyeshadow wore well for eight hours on me.

She's a Rainbow

She’s a Rainbow is a light peach with warm, orange undertones and a luminous sheen. The consistency was smooth, almost like a cream in a way, but it quite dense so there was no powderiness but was not as easy to pick up evenly with a brush (it just didn’t seem to transfer evenly to the bristles, which resulted in less even application). Luckily, the powder was blendable on the skin, so it was easy enough to buff and blend everything together. This shade lasted for eight hours on my cheeks.

This palette is the most blah of all of them, in my opinion.

It’s so surprising how low the ratings are on so many of the individual shades in these Personality Palettes, in general. How is MAC, of all cosmetic brands, getting eyeshadow so wrong? I have been using their single shadows for decades and I just don’t get it.

Oh that’s pathetic that none of these palettes is doing well ! For some strange reason I’m starting to root for Mac again after all these years and was hoping these would be decent. I may still get the Basic Bitch one though.

Again, there seems to be a few shades that are quite similar to each other – which is redundant in such a small palette and this one so disappoints. The whole series has been very ordinary in terms of performance. Thank you so much for the reviews Christine.

I haven’t had my palette long enough to have tried all shades, but just on swatches alone I believe I got a better palette. Sweet tart is much better. Eternal optimist and Good Girl are better too. I haven’t tried Spoiled and Too Good to be True. The rest appear on par with your palette Christine. Mine didn’t wear as long as UD, MUFE, or even MAC Extra Dimension shadows regardless if I used primer or not. I had about 4 hours wear before they started to fade. For the record I have pretty normal skin which leans towards dry. UD & MUFE eyeshadows wear upwards of 14 hours without any fading and I almost never wear any type of primer or do any type of lid prep such as powder.
