Pigment of Your Imagination

MAC Pigment of Your Imagination Lustreglass Sheer-Shine Lipstick ($22.00 for 0.1 oz.) is a medium pink with moderate, warm undertones and a lightly glossy finish with barely-there pearl. It had semi-sheer pigmentation that could be built up to semi-opaque coverage with two to three layers.

It had a lightweight, lightly emollient consistency that was creamy without being overly slippery, and it was on the thinner side. It settled slightly into my deeper lip lines, though it wasn’t noticeable from a normal viewing distance. It wore well for three and a half hours and felt lightly moisturizing while worn.

Formula Overview

$22.00/0.1 oz. - $220.00 Per Ounce

The formula is supposed to have "sheer, buildable colour" that is moisturizing, while also being long-wearing with "six hours" of shine and "eight hours" of color.

First and foremost, these have an unexpectedly long long-wearing claim. Eight hours of wear is a feat for any lipstick, let alone one that is sheerer, more luminous, and hydrating. It likely comes as no shock that they did not wear close to eight hours. The wear ranged from three to four hours, which was in line with other, more luminous formulas of similar coverage-level and was a little longer than the average Lustre lipstick in the past (though more consistent with recently released Lustres).

The updated take on the Lustre finish is more emollient, creamier, and has more consistent coverage. It is still a lighter-weight, thinner consistency relative to MAC's other lipsticks and most other lipstick formulas on the market. The colors that were brought back in the new formula were fairly consistent with the prior versions.

Most of the shades applied evenly, didn't seem to catch or emphasize texture imperfections on my lips, and weren't prone to settling into my lip lines. That being said, the current range is heavier on mid-tones, and it is often very light shades that can be the culprits of both.

The coverage ranged from semi-sheer to medium, and most shades were buildable to semi-opaque coverage, though they tended to wear down to more medium coverage within an hour or so of wear. I found that once some of the shine wore down, e.g. if one drank from a glass of water or blotted lightly, the color that remained was more like the initial layer of product.

They were vanilla-scented but had no discernible taste.

See Sheer

MAC See Sheer Lustreglass Sheer-Shine Lipstick ($22.00 for 0.1 oz.) is a medium, pinkish-coral with warm undertones and a soft sheen. It had semi-sheer color payoff that I was able to build up to semi-opaque coverage with a second layer.

The texture was lightweight, thin, and a little clingy, which made it more prone to catching/emphasizing lip texture and imperfections. It lasted decently for three hours and felt lightly hydrating over time. The color seemed slightly richer compared to the last version I have.

Beam There Done That

MAC Beam There Done That Lustreglass Sheer-Shine Lipstick ($22.00 for 0.1 oz.) is a darker pink with subtle, warm undertones and a lightly glossy, luminous finish. It had semi-sheer to medium, buildable pigmentation that applied evenly across my lips.

The lipstick felt lightweight, lightly creamy, and smooth without being too emollient on my lips. It stayed on nicely for four hours and felt lightly moisturizing while worn.

Pigment of Your Imagination is lovely.
I kept thinking I was sure I had Tatin and went into my backup lipstick file and sure enough I found it, plus a bunch of lippies I really need to revisit!
