MAC Naturally Enhanced Mineralize Skinfinish
MAC Naturally Enhanced Mineralize Skinfinish ($32.00 for 0.35 oz.) is a mix of yellowed brown, reddish-copper, deep plummy brown, and dark yellowed brown. The four shades unite to create a dark, chocolaty brown with subtle, warm red undertones and a satin finish. By Terry Savannah Love #6 (LE, ) is darker, warmer (95% similar). MAC Swiss Chocolate (P, $24.00) is brighter, warmer (90% similar). NARS Melina (Contour) (PiP, ) is darker (90% similar). Chanel Duo N. 01 (Bottom) (LE, ) is lighter, warmer (90% similar). Anastasia Chocolate (LE, ) is lighter, warmer (85% similar). ColourPop Happy Hour (P, $8.00) is lighter, warmer (85% similar). Anastasia Dusk (LE, ) is cooler (85% similar). Tom Ford Beauty Flicker (Bottom) (PiP, ) is more shimmery, warmer (85% similar). Benefit Hoola Toasted (P, $30.00) is less shimmery, darker (85% similar). MAC Raizin (P, $24.00) is brighter, warmer (85% similar). MAC Humour Me (P, $29.00) is lighter, cooler (80% similar). See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.
The Mineralize Skinfinish formula is described as a “velvety soft” face powder with a “radiant finish” that can be used to “add highlights to the high points of the face.” The Mineralize Skinfinish Collection for spring features five new, limited edition shades — the collection debuts on March 31st online. Naturally Enhanced had semi-opaque color payoff–one of the less pigmented shades in the range–with a noticeably drier, loose texture that was almost sandy, though much less gritty. It was difficult to apply the color evenly, as it didn’t seem to adhere as well to bare skin. I was really bummed that the texture of this was significantly drier and less usable compared to the other four shades in the collection, particularly because it’s rarer to find a darker, less metallic hue in the Mineralize Skinfinish range to begin with. It lasted for seven hours before fading.

What a bummer! This is the one I was most excited about seeing. Side note, that lipstick looks great on you!
Thank you, Indya!
Oh bummer, it looks so promising in the pan–it gives me a 70s vibe, and I thought it would be nice option for darker skintones, but the swatch looks kind of dry and gritty. But maybe over primer and foundation, it could work, will give the powder something to stick to.
I think if you use cream/liquid foundation and set first, it should be OK but still need some extra blending.
Egads!! That looks like a horrid formulation. I might as well apply mud from my garden on my cheeks. It’s a shame because I was looking forward to this one and those terracota shades on the left look awesome. Thanks for the review, as always!
I was so bummed!! None of the others has a texture similar to the dud shade in this one, so it’s weird 🙁
Oh wow you weren’t kidding about it being gritty and uneven upon application! Easy pass.
Right? So disappointing!
Aw, darn. I wish you had had better luck with this one, because of love the colors themselves.
Same here! 🙁
This looks worse than what the drugstore puts out these days and MAC wants $32 of my hard earned money for it. Heh. #nope
I was really surprised, as I can’t recall when I’ve had a Mineralize product come away looking like that!
What a shame indeed! This could’ve been a winner for darker medium to deep skin tones. Someday, MAC will get it right beyond just Raizin and Burnt Pepper! And a few other decent ones.
EXACTLY! That is why it was so sad to see 🙁
Looks like a good idea for a product, but what a bummer about the execution of it
I really wish that darker brown was smoother!
This is quite a dark, orangey blush. I am not quite sure which type of complexion it would suit best. It’s a shame that the product wasn’t as good as the last one.
By the way Christine, I am not always getting your blog in my email inbox. Is it something on my computer that’s not letting it through?
That is really weird! It’s automated and through a third-party service that we pay for, so it should send daily. The only way you might not see it is if it went into your spam folder – have you looked there? If it’s not there, then I can also check to see if there’s a way for me to see who received what and when. I know sometimes there are “undeliverable” email addresses that kick back copies on one day but are fine the next.
I think medium and darker complexions could easily wear this!
Looked really pretty in the pan… 🙁
It did!
It looks quite awful on to be honest… That’s a bummer because it could have been a gorgeous shade, it looked so pretty in the pan!
It had so much potential 🙁
Bummer that the quality isn’t there on this shade — there don’t seem to be a lot of options for darker skin tones!
Exactly why I wanted this one to do well!
oh mac… do you really expect us to fork over for this 🙁 ?
I wish the texture of the darkest shade was better!
Man. I was really hoping you’d give this a high rating. I’ve been hoping to find a less shiny version of Taj Mahal. Maybe next time. 🙁
I hope you can fine something one day, Anna!
As a woman of color, I was really excited about this one. What a perfect way to start the warmer months if it only delivered on how beautiful it looks in the pan. I know MAC will work to get this right.
When I saw it, I felt like this would be such a great shade for medium to dark skin tones, and I was so bummed when it didn’t perform as well as the other shades (just by texture) 🙁
That literally looks like dirt.
I found this to be one of my faves in the collection. I have 3 out of the 5 LE MSF. I use my NARS Yachiyo brush to apply when I use all four colors together. I use the darker Browns to contour and the red and yellow toned colors for blush and highlighting. I don’t find the consistency chalky nor do I think it’s hard, but then again, I just started getting into MAC’s MSFs.
Awesome to hear that it is working so well for you, Pamj! 🙂
