Editor's Review

The description has changed over the years--the most current description (as of 4/21/2018) is that it is a "slow-baked, velvety soft, domed face powder with a radiant finish" that can be used to highlight "the high points of the face" or blended "all over for a sheer luminous polish to the skin." The sheerness seems to be more in referenced to the finish than the coverage, as the usage now states to use the product damp for an even stronger sheen.

In general, the Mineralize Skinfinish formula tends to be more metallic to glittery with medium to opaque coverage--it really depends on the shade. The texture of the formula has been refined over the years with current editions being fairly smooth, blendable, and easy to use. The wear has varied from six to eight hours on me with newer shades... Read More.

I use "gold deposit" during the summer to make my bronzers a bit more shimmery and warmer for my evening looks. I wouldn't use it on its own, since I'm too fair for such deep colour. On top of that, trying to build it up would probably end in lots of sparkle on my face (kind of a disco ball effect-not cool). Overall, I would say it's a decent product and a nice colour, but it must be used cautiously!

This shade blew me out of the water, it is absolutely gorgeous. I was looking for a versatile highlight that I could build up, wear alone, wear intensely, or wear lightly, and this totally fits the bill. Don't let the colorful veins scare you: they all blend together to create an incredibly unique, wearable and stunning highlight that has a very light iridescent effect. I get so many compliments on my makeup when I wear Lightscapade! You get so much product in the pan which is awesome since this product is $32, and I'm pretty sure I won't be running out of this for a long long time even though I use this shade nearly every day. This is a gem in my collection and I have nothing similar to it which I love. I am a shade NW 15 in most of MAC's foundations for reference. However, I truly believe any skin tone could pull this off. If you're looking for an absolutely gorgeous, versatile highlight to add to your collection, or you're new to highlighting and want something that will look very natural, try this, you will be in love.

I went into my local MAC counter the other day to find a good fall blush color and while swatching/trying out new shades, a makeup artist applied a bit of this over my blush and on my lids, and WOW, this is amazing! I thought that this shade would be way too dark/intense for my NW 15 skin, but not at all, it gave my face some seriously gorgeous dimension and highlight! I really think this could be used in so many ways: a blush, bronzer, a slightly darker highlight, or even an eyeshadow. Plus, though its $32 you get SO MUCH product, I\'m sure I wouldn\'t run out for years. So impressed... I didn\'t come home with it that time, but I think I\'m gonna need to make a trip back to the MAC store really soon to take this home!

My review applies only to the shade Porcelain Pink. In the beginning I'd like to emphasise that it's the prettiest shade I ever worn - lovely light pink with the right amount of gold sparkles. I have a thing for pink-rose-gold makeup, but every time I get sooo disappointed. It's the same old story with Let's skate Paint Pot, Feminine edge Fluidline and this baby - gold particles are EVERYWHERE in the matter of seconds. I can't just highlight my cheekbones - I somehow end up highlighting all my face, clothes and bathroom. One more thing - the product is super chalky. Regret buying. But it's still so pretty. If only the formula was different...

I think the fact this product is limited is the reason I wanted to buy it so badly, and after finally finding it on counter I had to buy it! I just think it looks so pretty in the pan, but on the skin it's a bit too natural for my liking. I find I really have to apply in layers in order to get it to the level I want. However, it is a great product that applies nicely, and you get a lot in the pan so it will last a while. I would recommend it more for a natural look, and not for those who like a heavily highlighted face.

This is stunning. It works as a highlighter or as a blush on my NW 15/20 skin. The darker raspberry veining is pigmented and deep enough to work with the lighter shades to make a blush or if I pick up just the lighter pink and more metallic shades from the surface, I can make a flattering highlight that still harmonizes with my cool-toned skin. So glad I got this; so sad it's LE.

This product is aptly named. It gives the most beautiful, illuminated, candle-lit glow to the cheekbones, browbones or any places of the face and even shoulders/collarbone that you might want to highlight.

Like soft and gentle and adored MSF this product is fantastic. This colour out of the three is the most flattering on my complexion as it has a pretty rosy colour that works as a highlighter and blush. I wore this on its own - the product is quite sheer but easily buildable. It does have a lot of shimmer but its not too glittery to wear every day.

I didn't think this colour would suit my complexion but tried it anyway. I love it. It has a beautiful rose gold colour and is really pigmented. Its a sheer texture that is easily buildable though it is very shimmery. I think its possible to get away with wearing this daily - I used this with some bronzer and it worked really well. Great product!

Beautiful skinfinish! It gives my cheeks a beautiful flushed gold sheen and although it looks really shimmery in the pan, it actually doesn't leave a lot of glitter on the skin. The product is sheer but buildable to get more of that beautiful gold.

On my fair (almost translucent!) skin I find that Soft & Gentle is the perfect mineral highlighter for when I want a soft wash of pale gold/shimmery colour. It's a great day highlighter as it doesn't offer too much colour just a subtle wash or at least on my skin tone, however it is buildable (I find it works best when building the colour with a duo-fibre stippling brush or face brush). The great part about this product is you can apply it wet which works best if you want a gorgeous pale gold highlight at night. Soft & Gentle does tend to fade, not so much when you apply it wet (depending on your skin!) and there can be a bit of fall out of in the pan (as is the case with most mineral based products) Overall for me it's a must have highlighter (:

Soft and Gentle is a highlighter within the Mineralize Skinfinish family. It appears champagne and very shimmery/glittery in the pan - on my skin, it is more reflective sheen with noticeable warmth and gold-ness. It is a bit much for daytime wear, so I mostly wear it at night. I frequently get positive comments when I wear this, but they're usually along the lines of "you're very pretty!" as opposed to "I love your makeup". I personally love this product. It's very golden and shimmery, so won't be for everyone.
