MAC Marcel Wanders 2: Lipglosses

There are four limited edition MAC Lipglosses ($22.50 for 0.15 oz.) in the new Marcel Wanders 2 Collection: Jana (creamy beige with gold pearl), Julia (light blue-pink with pearl), Karin (pink-mauve with pearl), and Kim (dirty plum with pearl). These lipglosses are designed to be “super sheer.”

  • Jana is a sheer pale, golden beige shimmered gloss that yields very little color (possibly, a touch of warmth) and mostly a healthy dose of shimmer. There are a lot of possible dupes. Honestly–the sheer lipgloss gallery is full of them. MAC Mary (from Marcel Wanders 1) is more golden.
  • Julia is a barely-there pink with pink and pale beige-gold shimmer. I have no idea how MAC got “blue-pink” out of this at all, because it’s not really cool-toned and there’s no blue undertones that I can spy. This shade has less shimmer compared to Jana. It looks a bit like MAC Beatrix on (from Marcel Wanders 1).
  • Karin is a plum-mauve with plum and pale pink shimmer. It has a healthy dose of shimmer, but I had some issues getting the shimmer to spread out evenly. MAC Comfort & Joy is rather similar but has more shimmer (less sparkle).
  • Kim is a softened red-berry with soft pink shimmer. It settles a bit into lip lines. The color coverage is semi-sheer here–this is the most pigmented of the four. Bobbi Brown Naked Plum is redder. Dior Mauve Accent is less shimmered. MAC Spanking Rich is similar with less shimmer.

The formula is cushion-y and thick without being goopy. They feel non-sticky when you apply them, so they do move a bit, but it doesn’t seem to gather or crease. Like other MAC lip products, these are vanilla-scented but don’t have any discernible taste. The formula is most comparable to the existing Cremesheen Glass but thicker (not in a bad way). Each tube has a “chrome” cap and a brush-type applicator. On me, these only wear about two hours and definitely need a reapplication after three. I don’t have any issues with my lips feeling dry post-wear, though.

The amount you get in these glosses is comparable to both Dazzleglass and Cremesheen Glass (and the overall style of the tube is also similar to these two glosses), which come in at $19 at present, so the price difference isn’t as startling as it is on the lipsticks.

I completely agree about the font thing. And tt bothers me so much that the As and Es are reversed and upside down. What is “Mercal Wendars”? It just looks tacky and silly, like something a three year old would draw.

These are so easily passable… It’s nice they don’t look like they’re settling into the lips, but frosty, overpriced gloss…PASS! Thanks for swatches, Christine! Hope you are feeling even better today! Hope the hubby-to-be’s mom enjoys her bday!

Mellan searching for treats in that box is too cute. Reminds me of my dog getting in people’s purse or lunch bag, lol. If he smells something good, he goes for it!

Happy Friday, everyone! Have a great weekend!

Hahaha, sooo, I know I’m tired when I mesh comments that I meant to put in the post for FFH Friday with this post. Wow, lol. I totally somehow forgot what post I was even on, and then once I posted was like, “WAIT! When did I get on a post about lip gloss?! Why am I still thinking I’m on FFH Friday?!”

OY.

Haha, during the holidays my sister-in-law and brother were over, and she left her purse open on the floor. Once the excitement of people he doesn’t see often wore off, he decided to quietly go rummaging through SIL’s purse. He found something and we started to hear rustles of candy wrappers, we finally noticed him off in the corner with his head buried in the purse. Once we acknowledged what he was doing, he just looked up from inside the purse like “What? I got bored and hungry! I’m not sorry!”

Funniest thing he’s ate that we found out about…strawberry gloss! He got trapped in my room once somehow, and we were looking everywhere for him. I find him under my bed, and I’m like what the crap, so I pull him out and he had this pink, jelly like substance all over his face. Once I picked him up to see what he got into, I noticed some sparkles then I smelled strawberry. LOL. Dog chewed up a tube of glittery, strawberry gloss! Weirdo.

Love our little doggy babies. They are so cute and entertaining!

They’re all so similar except the last one. I don’t like Kim. Of the other 3, if I bought just one, which one do you recommend to be the best? I don’t need 3 glosses that are all similar. Thank you so much Christine for the swatches!

I’m a little meh on the glosses. I mean, they’re all solid everyday colors and I think the shimmer is sophisticated, but they aren’t super special. I am liking Karin, but I’m afraid it will just be grey on me because my lips have zero pigment.
