MAC Keep It Loose Casual Colour Lip & Cheek Colour
MAC Keep It Loose Lip & Cheek Colour
MAC Keep It Loose Casual Colour Lip & Cheek Colour ($20.00 for 0.43 fl. oz.) is described as a “warm peach.” It’s a soft warm-toned peach with a soft sheen. It seems to have a little pink in it. As a blush, it shows up without washing out my medium-colored complexion, which was nice. On lips, it takes on a pinker appearance–looks like a pale pink with subtle warm undertones. Make Up For Ever #14 is similar but has more peach in it. MAC Alpha Girl is similar but lighter. MAC You’re Perfect Already is a little pinker on lips. MAC Miami Coral is a bit darker, more coral. Chanel Flirt is pinker and more coral. MAC Ever Hip is more coral.
For an in-depth review of the formula, please see this post. The main takeaways were that as a blush, this yields a dewy finish that might be just the wrong side of dewy for some, but it may be the perfect recipe for those with drier skin; as a lip color, the finish is more like a satin matte, and it has a slightly clingy nature that works as a way to make the color lightweight and very natural-looking.
This is going to be most flattering on light to light-medium complexions, though it should work on medium to medium-dark skin tones as well. It might be too light to work on deeper complexions without looking ashy. I tested the wear of this shade as a cheek color yesterday, and it only managed five hours before it started a rather quick decline–it was almost gone after six hours. As a lip color, it held on for around three hours.

Ahh I love this one! I may have to pick it up!! 🙁 lol
Aww I like this color! Very fresh and cute. Also, I have a question–have you worn these with setting powder on top? Obviously they would lose their nice dewy finish, but I wonder if it would make them last longer.
I haven’t tested the wear that way, because there are 8 to test, so I’m just trying to make it through testing them as a standalone product. Like any cream product, it should last longer when set with powder, though!
It’s official, I’m purchasing after this review.
Will you be reviewing the dual liner sticks? I always wait to order until i see your reviews. 🙂
This looks perfect for me… Also looks a little like an illamasqua cream pigment I can’t for the life of me remember the name of.
Surprisingly, I quite like this one on you, Christine. But it looks more pinky nude on you than the light coral it looks in the pan…so strange
this looks like a really wearable color. Looking forward to seing the rest of reviews for this collection. I love your eye makeup in this photo. what are you wearing?
@ndh111 On eyes: MAC Beth Mask Shade & Smoke Shadow/Liner, MAC Beth & Glory Shade & Smoke Shadow/Liner, Burberry Trench Eyeshadow.
This looks perfect for me. I have very fair skin with warm undertones, so that color should work (I’m only planning to use it on my lips…it’s too creamy for me to use on my cheeks). I have less pigmentation on my lips than you, so it should show more peach on me. I’m planning to just keep this in my purse for an “anytime” summer color.
I like this color, but not the dewiness. What about setting it with translucent powder – I know it will take away the dewiness, but will it make it look cakey at all?
@AliciaParillo It doesn’t look cakey, but I recommend applying this, then going about your business, and setting it a few minutes later. I’d also do it very lightly and preferably with translucent over colored powder!
I’m a bit confused about the logevity of these products because I couldn’t make it out if you are writing about it as a lip product or a cheek propuct or both. Could you help me with it for the products so far from this collection? Overall, these perform better on lips or cheeks? Thank u so much Christine! 🙂
I’m so happy that they are late with the delivery of this collection to my country because I can read your awsome reviews beforehand! 🙂
So sorry — 5 hours on cheeks, 3 hours on lips 🙂
In photo after photo, I don’t like what any of these are doing for your pores. (Especially in the diffused flash photos.) I’d never even *noticed* your pores prior to now! After a certain age, most of us have less-than-perfect pores but I’d never seen it on you. Until now. I had initially thought you were just joking when you said these products made your pores look like beacons in the night.
I realliy like this colour! I’d buy this more for lips than cheeks. I like a dewy look and all, but these are a little much. lol They look like a great product to keep in your purse (I’d use on cheeks as a last minute option)
Hi Christine! How would you say Keep It Loose compares with Lilicent blushcreme? I’ve been looking for a similar colour in cream formula since it was discontinued – no luck yet!
I don’t have Lilicent, sorry! 🙁 Based on old swatches I have of it (http://www.temptalia.com/mac-cosmetics-paint-pot-swatches-blush-swatches), this looks far warmer, less beige.
This looks a lot like Stila’s convertible color in Gerbera!
I love it even more then I expected! 🙂
I liked this color on you, it looks great and natural!
But compared to Crazy Sunday it seems Keep it Loose has a “dryer” look when used as a blush (I don’t know if you understood me). Am I right? Are there differences on texture between them? And, if so, isn’t Keep it Loose dry on the lips?
@Littleangelk I’d say they’re all about the same as far as the dewiness goes. On lips, none of them felt dry in a bad way – they definitely feel like a second skin, but it’s not that bad, tight feeling!
Looks really cute. Too bad it’s LE. I’m not buying any makeup (unless I run out of an essential like foundation) until the Heavenly Creature collection comes out in July, otherwise I’d totally buy this shade.
Is this pink on? In the photos it looks it but I wouldn’t want to buy keep it loose & find it isn’t. I’m nc20 looking for a baby ballerina pink not sure if I should get this or lazy Sunday as I worry that one could be to light?
@Krissigs It’s peachy-pink – if you are looking for just pink, Lazy Sunday would be better – or Weekend Getaway, if used lightly.
How does this compare to optimistic orange on cheeks?
@Krissigs Optimistic Orange is much darker and more orange!
o i loved it soo much! i ordered it a minute a go, i can’t wait! thank you
