MAC Illustrated Nude Lip Bag Review, Photos, Swatches

MAC Illustrated Nude Lip Bag
MAC Illustrated Nude Lip Bag

MAC Illustrated Nude Lip Bag ($39.50) contains a full-sized Lipstick, Lipglass, and Lip Pencil, plus a medium-sized makeup bag. The value of the color products is $45, while the bag is very similar in size and material to the recently released Illustrated bags that retailed for $36, so the total (maximum) value is $81.  This set was actually quite interesting, because the lipstick and lipgloss aren’t similar in color, so they can be mixed in varying degrees to get several different variations on a warmer coral.

Naked Proof is described as a “neutral pink-beige [with a Cremesheen finish].” It’s a warm-toned, pink-tinged coral with a satiny finish and light sheen. It had mostly opaque color coverage and wore for four hours. It was very slightly drying on me, which is my typical experience with the Cremesheen finish, so if you find them normally hydrating, this should be fine for you. Chanel Interlude is darker. MAC Reel Sexy is lighter, pinker. MAC Razzledazzler is similar. Burberry Devon Sunset is similar. See comparison swatches. (This shade is limited edition and exclusive to this set.)

Drawn to Chic is described as a “bright warm pink.” It’s a warm-toned, pink-coral with a glossy sheen and no shimmer. It had opaque color coverage, and it didn’t settle into lip lines very noticeably. It lasted four and a half hours on me. The consistency was slightly thick and tacky. MAC Fever Isle is shimmery. Revlon Papaya is slightly sheerer. MAC Star Quality is pinker. Hourglass Nectar is similar. See comparison swatches. (This shade is limited edition and exclusive to this set.)

Boldly Bare is described as a “reddish brown.” It’s a rosy, peach-brown with a matte finish. It had good color payoff, and it applied fairly well–it isn’t particularly flatterong on lips alone, but it works well as a base for lipstick to adhere to. MAC’s Lip Pencils usually last five to seven hours on me alone. Urban Decay Deep is darker, browner. See comparison swatches. (This shade is part of the permanent range and can be purchased separately if desired.)

Long story- I got my nude lip bag about 2 weeks ago at a store called The Bay up in Winnipeg. On the display the lipglasses were switched. As I was leaving I opened up the box to check it out and sure enough the bright pink drawn to chic was in there when, according to the display, picture pink was supposed to be. I told the saleswoman and she switched them. So I don’t know how MAC intended these bags to be. I actually want both, but opted for the nude because I have so many bright pinks.

The descriptions on Nordstrom have it with Naked Proof and Drawn to Chic, and I would cross-reference with my box (not sure if they actually listed the names on the packaging or not, my guess is not), but we just did recycling on Friday! You can also see the images on Nordstrom used for promos, and there is the brighter, coral-y gloss paired with the very beige lipstick, so I believe that is what they intended.

As always the lipgloss colour is different from the lipstick or the pencil shade..
:/
I’d rather something more suitable to do the perfect match..anyway it’s beautiful on you..:D

Very pretty colors, though I would probably use them separately. By the way, what eye shadows are you wearing in the photos? Very pretty!!

Christine I can’t find the FAQ section and I NEED that blue eyeshadow you are wearing! What is it? It’s beautiful!!!

I usually don’t like pre-made packs, but this is pretty!! I like the lipstick and the gloss especially!! BTW- what is on your eyes? It’s lovely! And it goes great with the lip looks!

*swoon* Your website has made me appreciate these beautiful shades. I’m a HUGE fan of the pink-coral these days. I just bought it! Thanks for the great work!

I usually wear dark reds (like Dare You, Spice it Up), but I’ve been wanting to step out of my comfort zone and try a nude or two. I’ve tried to go with the lesser priced drug store brands, but never really found anything I liked. I tried this collection on in the store, and LOVED Naked Proof on me. I am a NC 43, so pretty dark skinned. In the store, I did not like it paired with Drawn in Chic, but liked Drawn in Chic on it’s own. So, I figured why not. I did not try the lip liner in store. When I put this all on at home, I loved all three together! They look so nice. It’s comes out a bit coral, which I think is so nice!

Like Christine said in the review, it did wear after about 4 hours, but I am happy with this collection. Love the bag too!

I got this cute lip bag today, a drugstore dupe for naked proof would be revlon ‘mauve it over’, the difference is on the finish, naked proof is sheen and mauve it over is matte
