MAC Girl About Town Lipglass, Lipstick, Nail Lacquer

MAC Girl About Town Lipstick ($14.50 for 0.10 oz.) has been such a top-seller that it has now inspired a Lipglass ($14.50 for 0.17 fl. oz.) and Nail Lacquer ($16.00 for 0.34 fl. oz.) to complement it. This shade is part of the North American and Latin America/Middle East portions of the collection, so it will be available at all locations and online. Girl About Town is described as “bright blue fuchsia.”

If you layer the two lip products together, you’ll get a really dense, opaque fuchsia pink with very subtle silver micro-shimmer that’s very, very bright. The gloss is only slightly brighter compared to the lipstick. The nail lacquer is a pretty good match to both the gloss and lipstick, though it has stronger red undertones, which only become noticeable in really bright light. This shade is part of the permanent range, so it’s available all the time.

Girl About Town Lipglass is a brightened fuchsia-pink with silver micro-shimmer. It’s nearly opaque all on its own, and it applies evenly for the most part. The brightness helps to hide the settling of the thicker gloss into lip lines. Milani Flashy is darker, redder. MAC True Babe is lighter and more blue-based. MAC Full Speed Ahead is not quite as fuchsia, not as bright. (9, 10, 9, 9, 4.5, 4; A-)

Girl About Town Lipstick is a brightened medium-dark fuchsia pink with blue undertones. It has an amplified creme finish. It yields opaque color with very little product, and it has a creamier consistency than a lot of the other lipsticks in the launch. MAC Rare Exotic is very close, possibly a smidgen darker. Illamasqua Atomic is redder. NARS Carthage is slightly less blue-based and brighter. MAC Catharina is pinker and brighter. (9.5, 10, 9.5, 10, 5, 4; A)

Girl About Town Nail Lacquer is a rich, nearly-neon fuchsia pink with blue undertones. It has a cream finish, and it’s opaque after two coats. China Glaze 108 Degrees is a bit redder and shimmery. Zoya Dana is a bit redder. Zoya Reagan is bluer and lighter. (10, 10, 10, 9, 5, 4; A)

MAC Lipsticks are vanilla-scented but taste-free. Amplified creme finishes like Girl About Town typically wear four to six hours on me, with deeper shades like this one wearing closer to six hours.  This is one of my favorite finishes by MAC, as it is characterized by a creamier, more glide-on texture that wears really well and doesn’t dry lips out.  MAC Lipglasses are also vanilla-scented but taste-free. They are very sticky and have a thick, borderline-goopy consistency. If you prefer gel-like, cushion-y glosses that feel lightweight on, I don’t recommend MAC Lipglass. Because of the tackier texture, MAC Lipglasses do tend to wear a full four hours on me, with some of the darker shades lasting up to six hours (with mostly the color lingering at that point).

We don't want to set expectations and then disappoint readers as even products that are swatched don't always end up being reviewed due to time constraints and changes in priorities! I don’t know why it took so long for me to get GAT, definitely picking up. Going to check the swatch gallery and see how it compares to Quick Sizzle!

Your pictures/reviews are top notch!  Seriously, there are no other bloggers out there that do such excellent and thorough reviews.  I’m not interested in getting anything from this collection but I love looking at your pictures and reading your thoughts on products.  I hope you never stop blogging, your perfection is one of a kind and it shows 🙂

Thanks so much for these posts! Keep them coming, they’re helping em decide which to add to my shopping list and which ones to pass on. Thanks for all you work, much appreciated 🙂

Hey Christine, just thought I’d point out a small mistake: The first sentence “inspired a Lipstick ($14.50 for 0.17 fl. oz.)” and Nail Lacquer ($16.00 for 0.34 fl. oz.) to complement it. Do you mean Lipglass??

This has to be a full-time job for you! Thanks for all your hard work on the beautiful photos and thorough reviews. They are much appreciated!

I was thinking the same thing!  and poor Christine’s nails.. OMG!  The polish, take photos, remove, polish..etc…  I’m certain everyone appreciates the photos particularly given the colour variances on some of the sets.  This one is beautiful!

@wwendalynne Luckily, I was able to squeeze in four sets on Wednesday night, and then I spread out the other twelve on Thursday!  Some of these shades stain, so in a way, I had to take a break so I could wear away the stain, haha.

wow i should have waited for this. i just got pink poodle lipglass to layer on top of my girl about town! i’ll keep it anyways, but do you know how the glosses compare? maybe i’ll end up getting this new gloss anyways lol!

That pink looks amazing on you!! I dont think i will buy the set by try to find a dupe for at the drug store..Thanks for the review!!

have you tried Revlon Colorburst in Fuschia?

They look similar in pictures, but I’ve never swatched this one before so can’t say for sure!

 @sshine0923
I have Revlon Fuschia, and after seeing this review, I put some on my hand and went and swatched GAT at the MAC counter.  They are about 95% dupes.  GAT is just a touch brighter.  I won’t get GAT lippie bc it really is too close to Fuschia-although I’ve thought about getting the gloss….haven’t decided yet.

BTW-loving the new comment system!

I have been planning to pick up GAT, I think I’ll pick up all the 3 products when this launches here!I love the opacity of the color!

doesn’t it bleed, the lipstick over the lipglass?
I know this lipstick, girl about town, tends to slightly, just slightly bleed on me after 4-5 hours.

Kind of overwhelmed by reading through all of your posts, about the sets, so forgive me if you already covered this – Is Girl About Town lipglass limited edition?  Honestly Christine, I don’t know how you do it!?!?  Keep up the amazing work!

Thanks for doing this! One of my favorite lip colors is NARS hot wired but I’m sick of potted products, how close is girl about town lipstick to hot wired?
