MAC Lightly Charred Lipstick
MAC Frosting Lipstick ($17.00 for 0.10 oz.) is described as a “pure white [with a Matte finish].” It’s a bright, stark white with a matte finish. It was pretty pigmented with nearly full coverage, but the consistency was a little drier and seemed chalky to me, so it didn’t apply the best. Some of the color “cracked” as I smiled, and it could have gone on more evenly. For those who aren’t looking for a full, opaque white to wear on its own, it might be more appealing as a mixing shade, as it will lighten anything you add to it. In my experience, it does seem to stretch other formulas and make them appear a little less smooth on. I was able to minimize this effect by applying some of the white first, then layering the darker shade on top with fingertips (the warmth helped maneuver everything into place). The shade lasted for four hours on its own and was lightly drying. KVD Beauty White Out (P, $19.00) is more muted (95% similar). Bite Beauty Blanc (DC, $24.00) is warmer (95% similar). Bite Beauty #058 (P, $18.00) is more muted (95% similar). NYX Coconut (P, $6.00) is glossier (95% similar). Anastasia Primary #1 (Vol. 1) (PiP, ) is more muted (95% similar). Sephora In the Clouds (43) (P, $8.00) is more muted (95% similar). Maybelline Wickedly White (DC, $7.49) is darker, less pigmented (95% similar). Dior Ultra Light (000) (P, $37.00) is darker, more muted, cooler (90% similar). MAC City Slick (LE, $19.00) is darker, warmer (85% similar). See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.
MAC Lazy Lullaby Lipstick ($17.00 for 0.10 oz.) is described as a “white lavender purple [with a Matte finish].” It’s a very light, pinky9-lavender with subtle, neutral-to-cool undertones and a semi-matte finish. It had mostly opaque color payoff, while the texture applied without dragging on the lips. Unsurprisingly, the lighter shade combined with the denser texture made it prone to “cracking” when I stretched my lips smiling. It is one of the better-applying, ultra-light shades, though, and it doesn’t have as much slip as some others in the family have had. This shade lasted for four hours and was neither drying nor hydrating. Sephora + Pantone Universe Rose Quartz (LE, $18.00) is darker, warmer (95% similar). MAC Weekend 1 (LE, $19.00) is darker, warmer (90% similar). MAC Bianca B (LE, $19.00) is darker (90% similar). MAC Viva Glam Nicki 2 (LE, $19.00) is darker, more muted, glossier (90% similar). See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.
MAC Lightly Charred Lipstick ($17.00 for 0.10 oz.) is described as a “cool grey [with a Matte finish].” It’s a light, bluish-gray with cooler undertones and a satin finish. I don’t think this is a true matte, as there was a definite sheen to it when applied. It had nearly opaque pigmentation and went on evenly. The consistency was lightly creamy with a bit of slip, but it didn’t slide around or appear streaky applied. Some of the color gathered into lip lines after three hours of wear, though it lasted just over four hours in all. KVD Beauty Zero (P, $19.00) is darker, warmer (85% similar). KVD Beauty Zero (LE, $21.00) is darker, warmer (80% similar). See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.
These three shades are new, permanent shades that will be added to the existing line-up. It seems that many stores have these shades available for purchase, but as of the posting date of this review, I did not see them available online yet.

Did MAC also send you the frosted ones to review? I may be more interested in those. The only one here that “speaks to me” is 4Eva but I think I have a ton of dupes already.
Hi Michele,
I purchased all of these myself, at the MAC store, which only had 18 of them available. I bought all the shades that were available! I’m so sorry for any missing shades 🙁 They weren’t available to me.
Wow Christine – I feel your pain there – good grief! I actually think there’s some sort of hold on the frosted shades (like there was on the Brandt Brothers creme duo and still is on their lipstain markers). I have always loved metallics and frosts, even when they weren’t trendy, so I’m happy they are totally trending this Summer.
I love your combo of Frosting and 4Eva. I’m thinking I could do the same using the Bite Opal maybe. Hmmmm…maybe I need to let 4Eva sit in my cart…
I bet you could! I’d just use even less of 4Eva (not a full layer) if you want to see it lighten up.
4Eva is pretty, but I don’t think I can pull any of these off, and I prefer to mix with lip pencils, rather than lipsticks.
Lip pencils might be easier to mix with!
I like Lightly Charred a lot. I like how the gray has just the slightest hint of lavender. Very pretty.
It is a cool shade!
It reminds me of Limecrime’s Chinchilla lipstick.
I’m digging these 3, although I might still go for NYX Coconut instead.
Might be a better alternative, since it’s cheaper and still a little fussy!
Eek! Yeah no definitely not the lippies for me. But hey, kudos to MAC for doing something different and daring of course.
It is nice to see something different!
4Eva stands out most, but I won’t give up on Lightly Charred.
Lightly Charred is very interesting!
I love love love Lightly Charred!
Yay!
I’m not really feeling these 🙁
Hopefully the next batch is more interesting!
Oh no, I do not believe any of the 3 reviewed above would ever work on me, or for that matter, be shades I’d be into. I actually thought CP Marshmallow would have been a close dupe of Lightly Charred, but Marshmallow is still much less gray.
4Eva is another story! That one is a beauty. I love its UD dupe even more, though.
All skips by the sound of it 😉
These dont seem to be very wearable on a daily basis but good for MAC expanding their colour range. Maybe with a gloss on top they will look better. And I cant believe you purchased all of them yourself Christine…true dedication.
It was interesting, but all I could think of while swatching these is, “Where were these shades 5 years ago?” I remember their PRO line came out with some vavoom shades a decade ago, and then it was like nobody cared about expanding the PRO range (these feel very “PRO” in nature, but I know most brands are opening up their ranges to all, not just artists now).
Wow, these colours are quite interesting! Very bold, and quite unconventional. Seems the quality and wearability are on point with these shades!
They are more unique!
Lightly Charred looks interesting, well they all do, but that’s the only one of therse I might be able to wear without looking like a badly made up zombie-extra in a bad zombie film 🙂
I like that MAC are adding permanent lipsticks, and in more unusual colours.
Me too! It reminds me of MAC 10 years ago, LOL.
Hello there, I am trying to find out the ingredients to the mac frosting lipstick. 🙂 Can you send me a picture of the box? I really want to buy it but I have to make sure it doesn’t have any bad chemicals in it. Also Mac doesn’t have their ingredients listed on the website 🙁
Thanks! By the way, I love the way it looks on you!

Sorry, I don’t keep boxes!
