Banana Muffins
MAC Banana Muffins Oh Sweetie Lipcolour ($17.50 for 0.10 oz.) is a bright, light-medium tangerine orange with strong, warm yellow undertones and lighter golden-orange pearl that gave it a metallic sheen. It had nearly opaque pigmentation that applied fairly evenly, but there was a bit of excess product that gathered around the outer corners of my lips and in my deeper lip lines. From afar, the shine and sheen made it hard to see any of the settling, though. It had a lightweight, creamy consistency that was smooth and emollient, but as the shininess wore down (about an hour and a half), it seemed to dry down and feel less creamy. It wore well for four and a half hours and was non-drying over time. It had a sweet, banana-candy scent–reminded me of childhood banana-flavored candy over a just-peeled banana–and had no discernible taste.

Formula Overview
$17.50/0.1 oz. - $175.00 Per Ounce
The formula is supposed to have "lasting colour" for "eight hour" wear that's "hydrating" and "non-feathering" that comes in "frosted opaque hues." There are 15 shades in the range, and each one has its own distinct scent--tied to its name--and most of the scents were pretty dead-on but I could see those with more sophisticated noses finding some scents a little cloying or synthetic. I didn't notice the scents lingering for long after I applied the respective shade, and I didn't notice any tastes. The coverage ranged from semi-opaque to opaque, while the application was inconsistent, and I think it'll come down to how one wants to wear a particular shade (layered or alone) whether the application pitfalls (settling into lip lines, unevenness) of some shades will be deal-breakers.
The finish on most shades was very shiny and metallic with an initial glossiness that took an hour to three to wear down; most shades felt like a lipstick and gloss hybrid but I can see why MAC has it listed as a lipstick. Once the glossiness goes away, the remaining color and finish look a lot more like a lipstick than a gloss, and it felt clingier (some more than others) and seemed to adhere better. The texture is lightweight, smooth, and mostly non-sticky, so there was more slip and creaminess compared to something like Lipglass, and it didn't have the dry down of a Retro Matte Lipcolour.
They definitely did not wear for eight hours--that claim felt really over-the-top to me--and most shades lasted between four and six hours with a few deviating from that range. There's enough product in an application that a good amount of color comes through after drinking a coffee or glass of water (despite transfer). They were lightly hydrating at best but some seemed more non-drying over time. One upside was that getting colors in this finish (metallic/pearl with some shine) and opacity level (even when they weren't opaque) made them less dupable, though I looked for dupes across lipstick and gloss options.

Sugar Cookies
MAC Sugar Cookies Oh Sweetie Lipcolour ($17.50 for 0.10 oz.) is a pale pink with subtle, cool undertones and a metallic sheen. It had good pigmentation but wasn’t opaque, and due to the amount of slip in the formula, it wasn’t a product I would recommend building up as it would just get very streaky/thick. The texture was lightweight, creamy, and had moderate slip, and there was slight color that gathered in my lip lines, though the metallic sheen made it less noticeable from a normal viewing distance. It had a sweet, buttery scent–reminiscent of sugar cookies for sure–that wasn’t dominated by vanilla– and had no discernible taste.. This shade lasted for four and a half hours on me and was non-drying.

Strawberry Mousse
MAC Strawberry Mousse Oh Sweetie Lipcolour ($17.50 for 0.10 oz.) is a light-medium pink with subtle, warm undertones and warmer, golden pearl. It had semi-opaque pigmentation that covered my lips fairly evenly with less settling into my lip lines than I expected (a little I can see in the close-up photo but I couldn’t tell in person). The texture was lightweight, creamy, and had moderate slip, and it took about an hour for it to feel more comfortable and less overly-slippery to wear. Once the shine wore away, the product was less emollient and didn’t slide around at all, and it felt slightly clingy. It stayed on well for five hours but was a touch drying after four hours of wear. It has a strong, sweet strawberry scent–smelled like the taste of a Jolly Rancher and a had a subtle, sweet taste

The golden pearl in Strawberry Mousse is very pretty!
I love the Strawberry Moose one on you. Very pretty. I’m going to check this one out.
Sugar Cookie. Light, frosted lipstick. The perfect color to buy to make anyone’s teeth look super yellow.
Hm, I actually find that cooler pink lipsticks don’t do that (any strong yellow/orange lip color would pull any yellowness out of my teeth more), but presumably, someone who would purchase any color, Sugar Cookie or not, would do so because they enjoy the color 🙂
As far as unique lipstick colors, I always think you look really good in orange Christine!
Thank you, Jess!
Strawberry Mousse looks so much like a much cooler toned Nars Orgasm Lip Gloss, that I feel like I could probably rock it! The golden shimmer saves it from being completely unwearable for me personally. Still, I’d have to try it on first. Also, since you and Mac0holic both mentioned a sweet taste, I did attempt to read the ingredients tab above, but due to a slightly crossed eye, I couldn’t discern if Sodium Saccharin is an ingredient or not.
I don’t think I saw it in the list (they have “flavor” for the “aroma”), but the sprinkles make it hard to read it!
Strawberry Mousse would be my favorite out of this grouping. Based on the swatch photos I noticed these were pulling into lip lines but as you mentioned in the actual review, it isn’t noticeable from a distance. So, while I wasn’t even considering these for that reason, I now will look a little closer. Sounds like Strawberry Mousse was a little drying and so not my favorite. Anxious to see the other reviews.
Does anyone find it strange that the bright orange one is called Banana Muffins? Maybe it should’ve been called carrot or pumpkin muffins?
Yep! I haven’t seen any bright orange bananas, LOL! And I hope I never do!
I agree – I like Strawberry Mousse and interested in a few you didn’t swatch!
Stunning shades, though I wish they were better quality.
The Strawberry Mousse is a pretty color but I don’t think I would like the scents at all.
I’m glad I’m not the only one who says things like “tastes like the smell of…”
