LORAC Cue the Confetti Blush Palette
LORAC Cue the Confetti Blush Palette

LORAC Cue the Confetti Blush Palette ($30.00 for 0.58 oz.) includes four full-sized blushes/highlighters. The three blushes are part of the permanent range, while the highlighter is a limited edition shade. The Color Source Buildable Blush formula is supposed to offer–you guessed it–buildable color coverage with a “silky-smooth” consistency available in matte and satin finishes. The Light Source Illuminating Highlighter formula is supposed to be buildable for both a “soft, natural sheen” or “layered for a high-shine, dramatic effect.” The four shades in the palette weren’t what I’d call buildable; they are very pigmented with a light to moderate touch of the brush to the pan–which will be a happy thing for someone who likes more pigmented cheek colors. The texture was soft, smooth, and blendable across all four shades, and they lasted between seven and eight and a half hours on me. The brush is smaller than the average blush brush, but it didn’t seem too small (like it would take a lot of work to apply and blend over the cheek area), and it was fairly soft with only a few bristles that seemed out of place.

Value

  • Colour Source Buildable Blush: $22.00 for 0.17 oz. or $129.41/oz.
  • Light Source Illuminating Highlighter: $22.00 for 0.20 oz. or $110.00/oz.
  • Set Values: $55.64 worth of blush, $16.50 worth of highlighter
  • Total Value: $72.14

Spotlight is a medium, coppery bronze with warm undertones and a pearly shimmer. It had opaque pigmentation with a soft, smooth, and blendable texture that added luminosity to my skin but did not emphasize my pores. It is less buildable than it is very pigmented, but if you use a light touch and a fan brush, you can get sheerer coverage without a lot of work. The texture was very forgiving and easy to use. This is supposed to be the highlighting shade, and it will highlighter medium and darker skin tones but will work more as a highlighting bronzer on lighter skin tones. On my light-medium skin tone, it gave a subtle warmth and sheen when applied with a fan brush. It wore well for eight hours on me before fading. Tinge is a pop of light-medium pink with warm undertones and a matte finish. It had semi-opaque color coverage that was buildable to opaque coverage in two layers. The consistency was soft, lightly dusty, but smooth and blendable on the skin. The color wore well for seven and a half hours on me. For reference, this shade just barely shows up on my skin tone. Technicolor is a bright, medium-dark coral with warm undertones and a slight pink-leaning paired with a semi-matte finish. It seemed mostly matte but produced a more “natural matte” finish when blended on the skin–the kind of finish that looks like skin and not really flat or dry. It was intensely pigmented, though, where just a tiny bit went a long way, so I would not use the term buildable to describe this one at all. The texture was smooth, finely-milled, and blendable, and with a very, very light hand and some time spent buffing, it could be worn at a sheer coverage level. It lasted for eight and a half hours on me. Tarte True Love (P, $29.00) is darker (95% similar). MAC Hey, Coral, Hey (P, $29.00) is more muted (95% similar). NARS Paramount (LE, $30.00) is more shimmery (95% similar). NYX Summer Peach (DC, $5.00) is cooler (95% similar). Gucci Beauty Coral Flower (DC, $49.00) is cooler (95% similar). Vivid is a bright, light-medium cotton candy pink with strong, blue undertones and a satin finish. The version in the palette is much more intense and brighter than the permanent version I have. The pigmentation was ridiculously intense–it was opaque in no time at all; I felt like I had to use a feathery touch just to get medium coverage! The texture was incredibly soft, smooth, and finely-milled, and as I blended the color out, the finish became more and more satiny. I was pleased that it was rather easy to blend on the skin, because that’s something I find is truly a deal-breaker with such pigmented and bold/bright blushes like this one. It wore well for eight and a half hours before fading. Surratt Beauty Se Pomponner (P, $32.00) is less shimmery (90% similar). Make Up For Ever B216 (P, $23.00) is less shimmery (95% similar). Urban Decay Quickie (DC, $26.00) is less shimmery, lighter (90% similar). MAC Saucy Miss (P, $16.00) is less shimmery (90% similar). MAC Heavenly (LE, $22.00) is less shimmery, glossier (90% similar). NYX Electro (P, $6.50) is less shimmery, darker (90% similar). MAC Florida (LE, $21.00) is less shimmery, darker (90% similar). Maybelline Pink Fever (20) (P, $8.99)(85% similar). ColourPop Pegacorn (DC, $8.00) is darker, warmer (85% similar). Sydney Grace Pink Lemonade (LE, $9.00) is more shimmery, lighter (85% similar). Oh very interesting! I bought Tinge as a single and had to return it. I’m about NC15-20, and I had to pack on 4 layers of pigment to get it to show up on me. It was kind of dusty too, and my cheeks eat that kind of blush alive, so I had to also put on top of foundation, primer, and cream base or it would fade. And of course, because of all those layers, it oxidized into pink on me. Yep, epic fail. Interesting how it scored better here. I don’t want or need the other colors in this kit, so I’ll be looking at your dupes list for Tinge.

Oh, absolutely. I remember all the comments on Wet n Wild Reserve Your Cabana saying there was no way it could be a bronzer on anybody… and for me, it is!

I guess it’s not strange to me to call it a highlighter so much as it is to call it a highlighter in the same set as Tinge, being labeled a blush. Y’know? The relationship of the products to each other.

But in the end (with apologies to Shakespeare), a rose — or blush, or highlighter — by any other name is beautiful either way.

I have this and I love it! I’m very pale so I basically touch the bristles of the brush to the blush and it’s enough for my fair skin. I’ve been pairing the blushes with Estee Lauder’s Beckham Mercury Rising. It’s a natural and beautiful look on my skin. Since the palette is so pigmented, it will last me 20 years. 🙂 But I’m done buying blush; this is my new wardrobe for blush. 🙂

Do you have the permanent version of Tinge Christine and how do they compare?
I bought it during the half off sale at Ulta last month but I haven’t opened it yet bc I’m worried it’s way too light.
I think this palette is pretty but the mix of shades is bizarre – Tinge is obviously for pale skin tones whereas the other three shades are more suited to medium to deep. I think they should’ve replaced Tinge with a different color highlighter instead and it would’ve been more of a winner.

I also bought Tinge as single during Ulta 21 days of beauty. I don’t know if I got a dud batch or what, but it is very very light and was on the dry, dusty side. I’m about NC15-20 and had to pack on 4 layers to get it to show up decently, then it would fade. So I returned it. I’m going to try the dupes instead.

Just FYI, you can find Spotlight full sized in a holiday exclusive set at Kohl’s. It’s packaged with a full size Aura blush for $28 and called Grand Gala light source gift set.

Love this palette. I got it when I got the Mega Pro 3. It’s so lovely and such an excellent deal. The colors looks just gorgeous on you ????

I am so happy this worked out! The color variety and value is there, unlike most of the other cheek palettes we have seen so far. Definitely adding this one to my wish list.
