Lisa Eldridge Velvet Decade & Velvet Fawn True Velvet Lipsticks Reviews & Swatches
Velvet Decade
Lisa Eldridge Velvet Decade True Velvet Lipstick Colour ($32.00 for 0.12 oz.) is a muted, medium-dark rosy brown with subtle, warm undertones and a matte finish. It had rich color coverage that applied smoothly and evenly across my lips without tugging or dragging.
The texture was velvety, dense and more silicone-like as it glided over my lips, but it felt incredibly lightweight once on. The finish emphasized my lip lines slightly, and while I saw that there was a touch of product in my deeper lip lines in the close-up photo, it wasn’t enough that I could see it in person. It wore well for six hours and was neither drying nor hydrating over time.

Formula Overview
$36.00/0.12 oz. - $300.00 Per Ounce
The formula is supposed to be a "creamy, hydrating matte with a slight sheen" that is "long wearing and non drying." The three shades launched to-date are very pigmented with a lightly creamy, velvety texture that is thicker (but not heavy!) compared to the Insanely Saturated formula but has a similar velvety quality--smooth, glides on but doesn't feel wet or slippery at all.
The colors went on evenly and smoothly and were more flattering on (less prone to emphasizing lip texture or lip lines) than the average matte lipstick. They wear was between five and seven hours well, and they felt neither drying nor hydrating over time. There is no scent or taste to the formula.

Velvet Fawn
Lisa Eldridge Velvet Fawn True Velvet Lipstick Colour ($32.00 for 0.12 oz.) is a muted, peachy beige with warm undertones and a matte finish. It had good pigmentation in a single layer, though it was shy of full opacity. The texture was smooth, velvety, and creamy without being traditionally emollient or wet, yet it glided easily across my lips. It felt very lightweight on; the type of lip product that you might forget you’re even wearing.
There was a slight amount of product that sank into my deeper lip lines, which I could see in person, and as it was less opaque and one of the lighter shades, it was less forgiving of lip texture so you’ll want to exfoliate prior to wearing it. On me, it lasted well for five hours and was neither drying nor hydrating while worn.

The shades are beautiful. I passed on Decade after having a poor experience with Natasha Denona’s Naya brown-toned lipstick. I suspect one’s natural lip shade influences whether this lipstick shade will work or not. It looks lovely on you, Christine, and I like the undertones in the swatches.
Velvet Decade is my type of 90’s brown that I use to wear back in the day! Not sure if my having MAC Paramount, PMG Strange or KVD ELL in Hawkwind is quelling that nostalgic craving quite like Decade is doing for me.
I picked up Velvet Decade for my daughter and she is wearing it today. It looks stunning on her with her medium skin tone and very dark hair and eyes. Truly a beautiful lipstick and I personally am loving the formula.
Velvet Decade is gorgeous!
Christine, I think she said some were formulated to be buildable but I donāt know if that applied to Fawn…
Per the description on the website on Velvet Fawn’s page: “Saturated and highly pigmented lipstick with a beautiful, true velvet effect on the surface of the bullet which looks exactly like velvet fabric.”
Velvet Decade’s page: “Full coverage itās the most decadent and glamorously modern vintage shade. “
I love Velvet Decade – a gorgeous, autumnal shade.
i loved the swatches of velvet fawn, but as someone with a lot of texture on my lips i’m glad i waited for your review, christine !
My phone makes Velvet Fawn look precisely like your āmy lips but betterā color.
It really is. Iām Pat McGrath foundation #3 (NC15) and a friend is 15/16, and it looks like the perfect nude on both of us.
Velvet Decade reminds me a bit of Bobbi Brown Rose Brown Art Stick.
TF Ben which is a dupe, and a touch warmer is one of my two autumn favorite lippies– the other being the new TF Maurice. I am most tempted by Velvet Fawn and as the classic nude in the collection found it interesting that it was not close to any of the new Denona nudes.
I’ve had my eye on Velvet Decade. I’m glad to see your swatch because it has hints of red that I didn’t think it had. On LE’s website, the color looks like 100% milk chocolate to me, and very similar to Maybelline’s Grey Over it. I even held up the Maybelline lipstick to my screen and thought, “This is the perfect dupe.” Has my desire for it changed now? No, because it would be a nice splurge because of what seems to be a luxurious formula housed in a luxurious case.
