Kat Von D Muneca & Ludwig Everlasting Liquid Lipsticks Reviews, Photos, Swatches
Muneca
Kat Von D Muneca Everlasting Liquid Lipstick ($20.00 for 0.22 fl. oz.) is a light-medium, peachy coral with a matte finish. It had semi-opaque pigmentation, which was buildable to opaque coverage if I applied two distinct layers. The consistency was thin, prone to streaking, and while I typically find that the formula self-levels while drying down, it did not with this shade. It lasted for five hours on me and faded more noticeably from the center of the mouth–a lot shorter in wear than the majority of the range. The consistency also seemed thinner and more watery to me. The formula was neither hydrating nor drying on me.

Formula Overview
$20.00/0.22 oz. - $90.91 Per Ounce
It is supposed to be a “long-wear, full coverage liquid lipstick with a smooth, matte finish.” Of the liquid lipsticks on the market that go and have a full dry-down, Kat Von D’s formula remains my favorite, as it is the easiest to apply with the kindest learning curve and lasts awhile.
Some shades are more drying than others, but typically they don’t get drying until after five to six hours of wear. They often wear anywhere from six to ten hours, depending on what you’ve had to eat or drink during the day. This formula is thin but not watery, has a longer dry down than most liquid lipsticks (but I noticed some of the newer shades dried to a mostly dry finish faster), and layers better than most (you can touch-up or add a second layer for more coverage).
It takes about a minute for it to mostly set, but it will remain a little tacky in places for up to three minutes so you’ll want to avoid pressing your lips together if it doesn’t seem totally dry initially. There isn’t a noticeable scent or taste. If you don’t mind the trade-off between very long, near-pristine wear and being drying, it’s worth checking out. As a bonus, these also come with one of the most generous amounts of products within the realm of liquid lipsticks!

Ludwig
Kat Von D Ludwig Everlasting Liquid Lipstick ($20.00 for 0.22 fl. oz.) is a muted, medium mauve with neutral-to-warm undertones and a matte finish. It had good pigmentation, though just shy of being full coverage, that applied evenly and smoothy. The consistency seemed a little thinner and more emollient than the average shade in the range, but it did not apply streaky. The liquid lipstick dried down to a flat, matte finish that didn’t emphasize my lips texture and lasted for six hours on me. It was slightly drying after five hours of wear.

The combination of the very pale colors with this very matte finish doesn’t work for me.
Gotcha!
Both of them are so so beautiful! I love how Ludwig wears on you!
Thank you!
Ludwig is really pretty.
It is!
I’m sad Muneca didn’t fare so well, but pale shades seem to be hard to get right in a liquid lipstick formula in general. I was looking forward to this shade. 🙁
It is true 🙁 The lighter shades often are problematic… very light and very dark shades!
Ludwig looks so beautiful. Therefore, I am very glad to have MAC VG II, even though mine is in 3 shade holiday palette. Going to have to remember to use it more often, me thinks!
You should use VG II more often for sure!
I like Ludwig more than I thought I would, but I think it would probably be too light for me. Really light shades aren’t very flattering on me.
Oh, darn 🙁
Ludwig looks much nicer close up. Still to warm/pale for me.
Totally understand – they are warm!
Ludwig was my first KVD Everlasting Liquid Lipstick purchase. It was such a pretty color as a swatch on my hand, and the Beethoven-related name is awesome. But on my lips it was a huge fail. It’s close to my natural lip color, but a bit more beige, and the only thing it did was made my lips look flat and lifeless. Thankfully, Sephora accepts returns, so I exchanged it for Lolita, which looks beautiful.
