Dagger

Kat Von D Dagger Everlasting Liquid Lipstick ($20.00 for 0.22 fl. oz.) is a muted, medium-dark grayish blue with cool undertones and a matte finish. It had semi-opaque pigmentation and would benefit from a second layer of product to ensure smooth, even, and opaque coverage. The texture was thin, very fluid, and spreadable but some color slipped into my lip lines–it just did not seem to apply as evenly or as flatteringly as a lot of the Everlasting Liquid Lipsticks have for me. The color wore well for six and a half hours and was lightly drying after five hours of wear.

Formula Overview

$20.00/0.22 oz. - $90.91 Per Ounce

It is supposed to be a “long-wear, full coverage liquid lipstick with a smooth, matte finish.” Of the liquid lipsticks on the market that go and have a full dry-down, Kat Von D’s formula remains my favorite, as it is the easiest to apply with the kindest learning curve and lasts awhile.

Some shades are more drying than others, but typically they don’t get drying until after five to six hours of wear. They often wear anywhere from six to ten hours, depending on what you’ve had to eat or drink during the day. This formula is thin but not watery, has a longer dry down than most liquid lipsticks (but I noticed some of the newer shades dried to a mostly dry finish faster), and layers better than most (you can touch-up or add a second layer for more coverage).

It takes about a minute for it to mostly set, but it will remain a little tacky in places for up to three minutes so you’ll want to avoid pressing your lips together if it doesn’t seem totally dry initially. There isn’t a noticeable scent or taste. If you don’t mind the trade-off between very long, near-pristine wear and being drying, it’s worth checking out. As a bonus, these also come with one of the most generous amounts of products within the realm of liquid lipsticks!

Woolf

Kat Von D Woolf Everlasting Liquid Lipstick ($20.00 for 0.22 fl. oz.) is a muted, dark grayish blue with cool undertones and a matte finish. It had good color coverage–nearly opaque–with a fairly fluid, spreadable consistency that ran thinner. It applied evenly for the most part, but there were a few areas where a second layer would be necessary for truly opaque, even coverage. This shade wore well for seven hours and was slightly drying after six hours of wear.

OMG, I feel like these are screaming to be paired together in an ombre lip, which is something I would do when I go to the goth club, lol!

These look fantastic in their application, especially in comparison to most other brands attempts at manufacturing similar shades of lip color. Sadly, I just don’t look to good in most blue-grays. I do have UD Time from last year, I believe the shimmer saves it from making me look ghastly.

This might be a silly question, but what is the difference between the two lip swatch pictures? I’ve noticed them on all the lipstick reviews but I could never figure it out.

When I saw Dagger online I fell in love! I have tried KVD liquid lipsticks before and found them to be very drying on me personally, but for this color I’m taking a second chance. I found new lip moisturizers that have helped a lot so hopefully they will pair up with this one okay. Only one way to know for sure! Just wanted to add that your reviews on products are the best I have ever seen. The attention to detail, the extremely accurate shade descriptions, the pictures, and the scoring system, you really go all out! Whenever I want/need a detailed review on something, I head right over to your pages. I know you will always be up on the latest before everyone else and give your honest opinion. Thank you!!
