Guerlain Spring 2012: Rose Innocent Rouge G Lipstick

Debuting in January, Guerlain Rose Innocent Rouge G Lipstick ($48.00 for 0.12 oz.) is pale pink with subtle yellow undertones. This shade is limited edition from Guerlain’s spring collection, and it is one of four Rouge Gs–I’ll have reviews on the other three as soon as I can buy them. It’s almost a neutral pink, but the color itself is very light–it’s just a pink-tinted version of my natural lip color. Very my-lips-but-better kind of shade, so it may be rather superfluous on someone with more pigmented lips or else serve as a way to lighten them a shade or two. OCC Femme is an opaque version of this shade. MAC Dress It Up is a cooler-toned pink. MAC Royal Azalea is similar in lightness but is a touch cooler toned. MAC Behave Yourself is a bit darker and bluer.

This is the kind of shade that someone will love and wear everyday or one where someone just doesn’t see the point. The color coverage is semi-opaque (you can just barley see my lip freckle), but there’s a general translucency throughout the product that lets my natural lip color peek through. Rose Innocent feels more like a Rouge G Brilliant than your typical Rouge G, because it has more slip and natural glossiness, but it’s not quite as glossy (and definitely not as sheer) as a Brilliant. The color doesn’t apply as evenly, and I expect it’s due to the slip in the texture. It only wore for three hours on me, which is decent for this type of light color, though I tend to get better wear out of the Rouge G formula than that. It is very hydrating and comfortable to wear, though.

purchased my first Rouge G today Christine. I love Greta to bits!! 🙂 I also purchased lingerie de peau foundation. I think i am in love with Guerlain. If it only weren’t so expensive especially here where the markup is high!!

next target is guerlain cruel gardenia..so lovely!

I don’t think it would show up on me, but it looks lovely on you. Also, you are really making me want those eyeshadows….this collection is going to decimate my funds.

gah, thspis is exactlh what I wanted this shade to be. My lips are more pigmented than yours though, so I guess ill have to find this pretty in person and try before I buy… with a price like that, I almost hope it looks awful on me, haha!

How disappointing! I really hope the rest of the shades will have better color payoff. Can’t wait to see your reviews for the rest of the collection 🙂

Oh, gosh, I really like this… I need to stop looking at your Guerlain posts, because they tempt me to do things like spend $48 on lipstick when I have Christmas presents to buy! Thank you so much for listing a few similar colors! But this shade looks really good on you, Christine, especially with your eye makeup. I love pretty pinks with cool blues and greens and shimmer! 🙂

Hi Christine! How are you? May I please ask you a few questions?

Does Guerlain make any opaque and matte lipsticks at all?

Do you think that Guerlain’s KissKiss lipstick collection is any good and worth the extra money in regards to quality?

Which collection of Guerlain’s lipsticks do you think have the best quality: KissKiss, Rouge G, or Rouge Automatique?

What do you think of Guerlain KissKiss Lip Lift?

Hi AK,

I don’t think they have any mattes. I like the KissKiss line, but it has been awhile since I’ve used any since they are more focused on Rouge G and Rouge Automatique. Rouge G is the highest quality, but Rouge Automatique is like 90-95% close for a lot less. The major difference is in the nuance of the colors, even though RA is a beautiful range, some of the Rouge G shades seem to have more depth–just a little something. Rouge Gs are a bit more hydrating and more opaque. I haven’t tried Lip Lift.

I got this the other day and love it !! So pretty and I had no trouble with the texture, it deposited evenly, no issues here. It doesn’t look very pale on me either, and I’m a medium skin tone. Weird. Do you think these may be slightly different US from Europe? (I’m in Europe).

I know Chanel pulls stunts like these and their European stuff is different, but as far as I know Guerlain hasn’t been doing it?

Hi christine, i recently brough guerlain rose innocent lipstick, and always have natural bright red lips, is it worth puting a lip tint on or something like benefit plump lip primer to dye down my lip colour abit before applying the lipstick to actually get use of this colour lipstick? otherwise i can’t hardly see it on my lips lol, thanks
