The Rouge G formula is supposed to be hydrating with a luminous finish. Long-time readers will know it has been a longtime favorite of mine, and it still is my absolute favorite lipstick formula (it’s a favorite that has stood the test of time!). The part that I find is more unique to Rouge Gs is the finish; there’s a fine pearl that gives it a glossier, shinier sheen that isn’t too slippery. This holiday’s limited edition release is mostly opaque with a creamy, lightweight consistency that glided on easily and applied smoothly. The formula was comfortable to wear, nicely hydrating, and lasted for almost five hours on me.

Talking to the SA about this and she agreed with me. I thought it very close to Rouge G Georgia.
Georgia’s definitely a warmer pink! On me, Georgia is lighter/brighter.
I originally thought Merveille Rose was similar to one of my all time faves–Georgia. Once I actually swatched it; however, I could see quite a difference and even more so when I applied it. Georgia is definitely a lighter and brighter shade whereas MR reads as a cooler classic rose. In short, they look different enough that I don’t feel like I have a dupe.
Really beautiful!
It is!
I’ve waffled on purchasing this so many times since the initial post showing their holiday collection. On the one hand, it’s not the most unique shade, though it’s pretty, and the price is steep for my personal budget. On the other hand, I’ve heard you rave about the formula and have been so curious about it for quite awhile!
I’d put it on my Christmas list, but it probably won’t be on shelves that long. Oh, the humanity!
Maybe it’s a shade you’d wear often and enjoy? Sometimes unique is good, sometimes a powerful shade is good, but some of my favorites are really just the ones I can throw on with most looks. Almost as if you can enjoy the formula more often that way!
I agree, some of my favorite shades are my-lips-but-better! And this would definitely be one I could wear a lot (my-lips-but-brighter?).
See, now you’re just enabling me! 🙂
I’m in love with this lipstick! The packaging is the icing on the cake! It’s so moisturizing too. I love that I can throw it on and feel polished. It doesn’t need a liner. But, I’ve won it with a pinky, nude liner to sharpen it up and it loos gorgeous that way too. The look here is beautiful- once again! 🙂
The packaging is pretty! 🙂
This looks absolutely amazing and I love the holiday packaging of it! I’ve never tried any of these before but I think I’ll definitely have to pick this one up!
Do you have any idea about whats going on with this product and Sephora? It was available online but now its not at all, like no link to the page anymore, is Sephora no longer selling the lipstick?
I’m assuming Sephora sold out already!
Regina, it’s still available at Nordstrom online. I just ordered mine. 🙂
Thank you! I was hoping to pick it up during Sephora’s VIB sale in November haha
Such a lovely colour! How does it compare to Rouge G Georgia?

Oh yes! I was waiting for you to review this, although I went out and bought it anyway. This is my first Rouge G. The color is so pretty, and I’m happy to see you loved it too.
So glad you’re loving it, Michelle!
How similar would you say this is to the Rouge G in Georgia?

Merveilleux indeed! So pretty, oh my!
It is a lovely shade!
Nice on you.
Would be too light on me.
I think this is a better brand than Tom Ford.
Thanks, Stacey! Guerlain has some real hits!
Hi Christine, could you tell me how close this one is to the Rouge G in Georgia?
(I tried comparing it via the swatch gallery, but now swatches came up somehow?)
Will you also review the matte liquid lipstick from this collection? TIA!

Omg!!! What highlighter is that?!? I’ve never heard of it. You look amazing! Is that the Dior Spring 2016 highlighter? Thanking u in advance:) love the lipstick btw.
It’s Dior’s holiday highlighter.
Thank you! Do you like this Rouge G more than the matte liquid lipstick from this collection? (I’m assuming you have the matte lippie) 🙂
I’m partial to Rouge G 🙂
OMG, the packaging is stunning!!! I would love to own a Rouge G, but this color isn’t calling me. Don’t get me wrong, it’s very pretty and I can probably pull it off, but it’s not going to be spectacular on me, and for $55, I need a spectacular color, maybe a red, purple, brown red, berry, plum. But the design is gorgeous
The design is lovely!
Oh goodness. I have been trying to resist going down the Rouge G rabbit hole, because I am worried I will never want to buy a lower priced lippie again. But this just looks lovely! And I’m a sucker for the snowflake packaging.
The look you put together for this one is fantastic, Christine! Will you be reviewing the Dior highlighter?
I did!
I received Canadian PR information from Guerlain for their holiday collection and on it said that this lipstick is #62 Georgia but repackaged with the snowflake casing. I tried to find other websites that corroborated this but I couldn’t. That colour is spectacular though!
That’s really interesting – they are definitely different colors on me (this vs. Georgia).
Pretty in pink! It’s a lovely pink, but I don’t think I’ll buy, spent loads already!
Always fun to look!
good thing that the color does nothing for me. so i’ll pass. otherwise i’d be all over that packaging and rouge g.
Phew!
Beautiful color and exquisite packaging.
Agreed!
That is gorgeous on you! In fact, this is one of those rare lipsticks that would be fairly universally flattering, I would think? But on your light-medium complexion; it is absolutely stunning!
I have never thought I’d be seriously considering plunking down $55 on a lipstick, but for this tube of splendor, I just may have to. ?
Thank you, Nancy! It certainly would work on a lot of skin tones, I think.
This is so incredibly pretty, I love everything about it. I’m definitely gonna track down these dupes though, $55 is unfortunately out of my price range 🙁
Hope a dupe works out for you, Alexandra!
Gah, so pretty! When I finally splurge on a Rouge G it will be in a color I know will work for me. This might be slightly too warm!
Almost!
I am pleased it got a really good rating, but it is not my kind of colour. However, it does look lovely on you Christine.
Thanks, Genevieve!
I ordered this, and I’m 110% happy with it. It’s a gorgeous color and has gorgeous packaging. My favorite thing about it is probably how atypical it is for a holiday release. I have the Rouge Gs in Gala and Garconne, so I’m pretty set with reds in this formula. I’m thrilled that this is such a versatile color for multiple seasons and occasions. It’s hard to explain unless you see it in person, but it’s like Christine said in her review, it’s not just another lipstick. There’s something about the finish that makes it incredibly flattering in a very unusual way. I give this an A++. It’s spendy, but it’s one time where the price is totally justified by the beauty of the product.
I’m so glad you’re enjoying it, Amy! 🙂
I love you so hard for getting this up so fast! I was undecided about ordering because I couldn’t tell how yellow the base was. On you, it just looks like a soft warm pink, which is a nice neutral to wear anywhere. Yup, ordering! Thanks for being so awesome!
Thanks, Nicole 🙂
Wow this is such a beautiful makeup look on you! Beautiful lipstick shade. I’ve never bought a $55 lipstick…I think I’ve capped at like $36? I’m sure I’ll go there at some point out of curiosity about this formula!
Thank you, Bonnie!
I am soooo excited for this! This is going to be my very first Rouge G! Mac Mystical is also my all time favorite light lipstick! So glad this got an A! 😀
Woohoo! Enjoy your first Rouge G, Chellie!
Ooooh nice color on you and the packaging is sooo pretty!
Thanks, Laarni!
Gorgeous shade and packaging! I also love your overall look, Christine. 🙂
Thanks, Precious!
Oh, everything is just beautiful, the colour, the finish the packaging. I feel a strong want, looking at this. Pity one must pay bills, isn’t it! 😀
It is 🙁 If only money grew on trees!
You look so pretty! I love the lipstick with the blush and eye makeup you are wearing.
Thanks, Ann! 🙂
OMG it’s so pretty, and the packaging, that tube is just gorgeous! I’ve never spent this amount for a lip product, I doubt I’d end up going for such a high end product but it sure is tempting!
I hope you love it, Candice!
Does it look a little like Too Faced Bon Bon? Maybe just a tad cooler?
Bon Bon is brighter, glossier, lighter 🙂
I am soooo excited for this! This is going to be my very first Rouge G! Mac Mystical is also my all time favorite light lipstick! So glad this got an A! 😀
My 1st comment wasn’t approved. LOL
Awesome! 😀
This is back in stock and I want to get it, but I’m so on the fence! Is there any coral in it? I don’t want it to look bad after spending all that money!
It is a warmer shade!
I want sure if I had posted a comment earlier or not. Do you
Think this compares to Mac Mehr (even though Mehr is a matte) ? It was back in stock on Sephora and I ordered it because I love my Guerlain Rouge G Gabrielle lipstick so much! I hope I like it!
I think Mehr is pinker 🙂
