Givenchy Rose Plumetis & Framboise Velours Le Rouge Lipsticks Reviews, Photos, Swatches

Givenchy Rose Plumetis (207) Le Rouge
Givenchy Rose Plumetis (207) Le Rouge

Givenchy Rose Plumetis (207) Le Rouge ($36.00 for 0.12 oz.) is a pinky mauve with subtle, cool undertones and a light shine. It had rich, opaque color coverage that applied beautifully without tugging or dragging. The color lasted well for five hours and was lightly hydrating. Buxom Dolly (LE, $21.00) is warmer, less pink. Givenchy Rose Boudoir (204) (P, $36.00) is brighter. Givenchy Brun Vintage (105) (P, $36.00) is a touch lighter, but it is very, very similar. MAC Mystical (LE, $16.00) is warmer. Estee Lauder Intense Nude (P, $30.00) is lighter, warmer. Buxom Centerfold (LE, $21.00) is cooler-toned, pinker. NARS Last Tango (LE, $26.00) is lighter, more matte. Urban Decay Rush (P, $22.00) is similar. MAC Mehr (P, $16.00) is more matte, lighter. MAC Craving (P, $16.00) is darker. Buxom Hooligan (P, $21.00) is warmer. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

Givenchy Framboise Velours (315) Le Rouge ($36.00 for 0.12 oz.) is a cool-toned, medium-dark raspberry pink with a soft shine. It had full color coverage, and it was extremely pigmented–one stroke is really all you need. It wore well for almost six hours on me and left behind a soft stain. The formula was comfortable to wear and hydrating. MAC Splurge (LE, $22.00) is more muted. Bite Beauty Crimson (LE, $28.00) is slightly brighter. Guerlain Gladys (78) (P, $51.00) is cooler-toned, brighter. YSL Exquisite Plum (22) (P, $34.00) is darker. YSL Forbidden Burgundy (12) (P, $34.00) is darker. MAC Commotion (LE, $20.00) is cooler-toned. Guerlain Madame Batifole (860) (LE, $51.00) is redder. Marc Jacobs Beauty Seduce Me (128) (P, $30.00) is cooler-toned, darker. MAC Rebel (P, $16.00) is cooler-toned, more matte. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

The only real miss with these is the fact that they’re really not “semi-matte” as described–there is a noticeable shine that lingers for two to three hours, and then it wears down slightly.

After all the navy lipsticks, this is chic, sophisticated and classic at its best. Love both colours. They don’t scream, “look at me” they confidently and understatedly say the same thing.
Gorgeous Christine!

At first I thought Framboise Velours would be similar to Too Faced Melted Berry, but once compared side-by-side, they look quite different! Just another reason to love Temptalia’s Swatch Gallery. 😉

Ooh, I like Framboise Velours! I was thinking about getting Mac Rebel, but I prefer this formula, and the price difference isn’t so bad in the uk (£15.50 vs £25).

Framboise Velours is so beautiful! It’s exactly the kind of colour I love, but I already have most of the near-dupes you list… That’s always the problem, isn’t it? When you have a type of colour you love, you always want to collect more, but then you end up with a lot of similar colours. I just got my first lipstick in this formula and I’m loving it so far.

I was going to say that Givenchy’s “Velvet Raspberry” is a lot like the cheaper MAC Splurge which is on its way to me! I guess the huge difference is the finish, the feel, the luxury, and the price!

Well, yes, there is the name brand too. I’d like to commit to a Givenchy sometime but just have not found The One. Blue-eyed blonde with MAC NW20-25 skin — a lot gets pitched at that “type”.

It definitely feels like a totally different formula/product on, even if the colors are similar – not so much to say “this is worth the price tag” but more that you’re right on the money – there is a significant difference in other aspects of it.

Nordies is the best I’ve got near me and they don’t carry it. I will look in the Sephora store. It is hard to say what they’re featuring of late!

Thanks 🙂

Both the colors are gorgeous! I was waiting for the swatches since the day I saw these on Sephora website. I have both the colors 207 for me is MLBB. I am keeping 207 but still confused for 315, to keep or not. Overall I am loving these collection!

It is great but I think I have some similar looking color but, they are not that bright. Like ysl rouge volupte shine 5 Fuchsia in Excess – bright luminous pink. I think the only difference is ysl is sheer & glossy and this is opaque and matte. What do you think?

Carolyn Avatar

Thank you, Christine!

Yes! It was a very generous deluxe sample too that should last quite awhile. I am really enjoying Sephora’s deluxe samples these days! I have a NARS Priscilla lipgloss deluxe sample arriving in the mail tomorrow :).

Is Rose Plumetis similar to Urban Decay’s Fiend?
I’ll tell you a litte story. I once saw Fiend’s swatch here and I fell in love with it immediately. Urban Decay’s products are really really expensive in Brazil though, and I decided not to buy it. A friend was in the US and I asked her to buy it for me. I looked for more swatches and I didnt like the shade as much as I did when I saw it here…well, I decided to give it a try anyway, and now I can say: your swatch was the best and I’m so happy I asked he to buy it for me! 🙂

When are these due in stores — I can’t find them online anywhere? Or did I miss them? Rose plumetis is gorgeous! Thanks for the swatches!

I received Rose Plumetis today, and the pigmentation is absolutely insane! I was completely blown away. It is such a great formula and the packaging is so chic. I know it’s a bit of a splurge for most, but you definitely get your money’s worth.

How do you feel the colour of the 217 compares to Bite lip pencil in Quince (according to your Side-by-Side Comparison a picture is coming soon, so I’m guessing you have it!)?
