Givenchy Fuchsia Irresistible (205) Le Rouge Review, Photos, Swatches

Givenchy Fuchsia Irresistible (205) Le Rouge ($36.00 for 0.12 oz.) is described as a “vibrant fuchsia.” It’s a bold, bright, cool-toned fuchsia with red tones and a satin sheen. NARS Carthage is slightly less bright. MAC Rare Exotic is cooler. MAC Lickable is lighter. Guerlain Champs-Elysees is redder. See comparison swatches.

I’m really quite enamored with the Le Rouge formula, and I suspect that next time Sephora has a sale going on, I’ll pick up a few more shades (assuming I can hold off until then!). Fuchsia Irresistible had rich, opaque color in nearly a single pass. The color was lightweight, comfortable, and wore for ages–nearly seven hours, plus left a residual stain. The consistency is creamy but doesn’t have too much slip, so it doesn’t bleed or feather. The formula looks lovely on the lips and really seems to give lips a smoother appearance overall, and it is hydrating when worn and for a couple of hours after it’s worn away. There’s a very faint scent that’s supposed to be mimosa and black currant, but I was hardly able to detect it in the tube and definitely not when applied.

It’s been extremely frustrating that my local Sephoras had these in a closed display, but never got them into the regular Givenchy section, so I’ve not had the chance to swatch them. This does look like the fuchsia to end all fuchsias, though. Might have to get it…

Oh my – I am swooning! I am trying so hard not to buy more makeup, but wow, what a gorgeous color! It does look rather like the ultimate fuchsia. Looks amazing on you, by the way, Christine!

I have this color and LOVE it. It looks amazing on your Christine! Would you ever rock this during the work day? Thanks for sharing!

AHHHH I LOVE IT!!! Hot/neon pink is my favorite color for this summer! 😀 How does it compare to Maybelline Vivid Rose? Do I have enough reasons to own both without feeling guilty? haha

Oooh! If you do buy another one to review I’m hoping it is the Mandarine Boléro. That color looks incredible in the tube and I would love to see it on.

It caught my attention as soon as I saw it. Amazing! Seems like I will be breaking my ‘no buy’ to get my hands on this gorgeous colour. Hope it’s available in Canada.

I purchase Mandarin Bolero (a coral-red) from my local Sephora in Montreal. They don’t have this on the floor yet, they have them hidden away in a drawer, because they haven’t received the display unit.

In any case, all the shades are available for purchase online on Sephora Canada! Pricey, though (although I gotta agree – top notch formula – featherweight, not drying, and leaves behind a nearly transfer-free stain). Lovely, chic case too!

This is gorgeous! I now will have to decide between this and Taffetas Rose from the same line, however it´s great to know the formula is good. Even though I have two similar colors since I have Guerlain Champs Elysees and Mac GAT (I know you list Mac Lickable as a dupe but GAT is very similar to Lickable so…) but I still have to swatch this, it looks great! 😀

I love this lipstick, its worth every penny. I love collecting lipsticks and this is by far my most expensive item ..I would also love to buy Guerlain some day. .. The color is damn gorgeous, it has that vibrancy but still one can wear it any time of the day..anybody can pull it off…im NC30 and usually the bright pinks don’t look great on me but this one is just bang on. .. I’m looking forward for more colors and your reviews Christine…I want to admit that this probably is the first thing I got without your review, and I’m so happy to know you loved it as well. ..!!!

*fingers crossed that you can’t resist the temptation to pick up more of these cause I would love to see more shades (perhaps a paler shade) reviewed by you*

This look amazing though. I already have a few lipsticks in this sort of shade, so I’m going to pass on this one, but the formula sounds great!

I’m amazing that you can use such reason and logic in the face of the OMGPRETTY lol… in any event, I would love to see a review of the summer coral shade. My Sephora doesn’t have any testers of this one.

Oh man this is GORGEOUS! I have one of the summer Le Rouge shades. Most expensive lipstick I’ve ever bought myself! The two shades you’ve reviewed make me want to buy more!

Holy!!! this color is crazy!!! OMG Christine is there any color that you cannot pull off??? everything looks so amazing on you! anyways, I already have MAC Girl About Town and NARS Carthage, do you think I still need this? thanks for sharing!

Looking at the swatches, due to the intensity of them they’re making my eyes hurt. Beautiful color, I will take a look at them next time I’m in Sephora. Christine, your complexion looks beautiful. Are you wearing the Giorgio Armani Maestro foundation? If so how about a review on it? I don’t think you have one and I’m curious as to what your meticulous thoughts are on it.

this is such a pretty color!! but i think it also compares quite well to maybelline’s color sensational vivids lipstick in vivid rose, which i own & love. i think i’ll stick with the $7 maybelline lip color instead of spending $30 more for givenchy for the same color. i might consider others if i don’t own similar colors.
