Fenty Beauty Wine (9) Eyeshadow Palette Review & Swatches
Wine (9)
Fenty Beauty Wine (9) Snap Shadows Mix & Match Eyeshadow Palette ($25.00 for 0.21 oz.) is a new, limited edition release that includes three matte eyeshadows and three shimmer eyeshadows. Fenty makes really soft, silky matte eyeshadows that are often very blendable and easy to work with, although they’re often more buildable in coverage.
Pinot Please particularly impressive in this palette, and the rarity of this type of shade made the whole palette “worth it” to me for it alone! The shimmers were solid, but they were still a bit overly emollient, which is consistent with past shimmer shades I’ve tried by the brand.

Pop the Cork
Pop the Cork is a medium-dark brown with moderate, warm rust undertones and a smooth sheen. The texture was dense, though not stiff, with a bit of a thicker feel when applied to bare skin, but it went on evenly and blended out without issues along the edges. It had opaque pigmentation in a single layer that stayed on well for eight hours before fading visibly.

Formula Overview
-
The formula is supposed to have "rich, blendable color" that is available in "matte, shimmer, and glitter long-wear finishes." There were a few distinctive formulas used throughout the palettes in which the eyeshadows are housed, but generally, they were decent eyeshadows that were buildable, fairly blendable, and had decent wear, but I felt like most of the shimmers were thin, a little dusty, and had a tendency to look less shimmery once applied (almost a faded quality to them).
The matte formula was most consistent and had semi-opaque to opaque color coverage that went on fairly evenly and blended out without too much effort, though some deeper shades took longer to diffuse or went on patchily initially and had to be diffused and blended out to a more even application. The wear ranged from seven to eight hours on me before they showed signs of fading.
The shimmer formula was typically thin, dusty, and more prone to sheering out or looking somewhat "faded" and less shimmery after a few minutes on my lid. There were a few shades that seemed to have a denser, thicker formulation that offered greater intensity in its shimmer finish but had light fallout and looked thicker on the lid, so they did not layer as well with the other shades (which were thinner). The wear ranged from six to eight hours before fading.
The glitters had a gritty feel to them, as one might expect of a glitter-packed product, with decent spreadability. The wear ranged from seven to eight hours with light to moderate fallout.

Bottle Service
Bottle Service is a medium-dark red with moderate, warm undertones and fine pink and gold micro-sparkle that gave it a pearly sheen. The texture was dense, more firmly-pressed into the pan, so you’ll want to use a moderate pressure to pick up product evenly onto a brush (or use a fingertip). It had opaque pigmentation that applied evenly to bare skin but seemed to look less pearly after a few minutes. This shade wore nicely for eight hours before fading a bit.

She Bubbly
She Bubbly is a light-medium, golden peach with strong, warm undertones and a sparkling, metallic finish. The consistency felt more loosely-pressed in the pan with less slip compared to most of the brand’s shimmers, which helped it apply better, though it had a bit of fallout. It had rich color coverage that lasted well for eight hours on me.

Pinot Please
Pinot Please is a deep, purple-plum with cooler undertones and a matte finish. It had semi-opaque, buildable color payoff with a soft, velvety texture that was incredibly finely-milled (often, this color in a matte finish would feel drier or even grainy).
It was very deep and rich in a way that we don’t see often–it’s the kind of color I’d (personally!) purchase the whole palette alone for. The eyeshadow applied evenly to bare skin and blended out with ease. It wore beautifully for eight hours before starting to fade visibly.

Love it, thanks for the review! I’ve been waffling on this one but you sold me. I don’t have anything quite like Pinot Please in my stash, and I love it with the other colors even though at first glance they don’t look like anything special. A nice solid set of six complimentary shades for fall. 🙂
This is another lovely little palette full of different, but cohesive shades. I really liked Pop the Cork – and I have never, ever seen 15 pages of dupes before either. I would guess it’s a popular shade!.
I like She’s Bubbly too – as my mature aged eyes are steadily maturing, I find I like these lighter shades more and more.
Pinot Please is quite a unique shade – although if it had been finished in a satin, it would have been more heavenly than what it is.
Thanks for giving Fenty Matte’s a shout-out! This eye look is so lovely…like a perfect summer-to-fall transition. I can dupe all these colors and can’t justify this palette unless I plan on traveling again.
This is a much more compact, more daytime friendly version of PML Bronze Seduction Mothership, to me. Which I do love the shimmers, special shades and Xtreme Aubergine in, but I’d never bring it on a trip, plus I tend to use it for special occasions moreso than for an “everyday” type of eye look. Pinot Noir *muah!*
Pinot Please looked really nice in the swatch post, good to see it’s up to scratch in practice. 😀
Love the color story, especially Pinot Please! Great that the quality is also there. This can be a nice travel palette as there are several looks you can get out if it.
