What lipstick finish do you wish brands would explore more?
I love a lightly glossy, subtly pearly finish as it is comfortable to wear, more forgiving (softens lip lines/plumps lips up).

Sheer lipsticks! It can have slight shimmer or not. So wearable. I like easy to apply, easy to wear, comfortable sheer lipsticks or tinted lip balms. I find fully opaque cream or mattes so fussy and often so heavy. Super long wearing isn’t a must for me as I don’t mind reapplying!
Can I say “anything but matte/powder matte/comfort matte/mattey matte? Clarins used to have a finish called “Prodige” that struck the perfect balance between feeling satiny/comfortable, looking moist and lasting a pretty decent amount of time. So, of course, they discontinued it! (I think they did the same with the Gloss Prodige as well – pretty much the only lip gloss I liked).
Another vote for sheer lipsticks, preferably satin finish.
Just somebody please bring back Pat McGrath Luxetrance Lipsticks? I’m a big fan of creamy, smoothing, hydrating, pigment saturated formulas like that one. I also love a formula that is lustrous, but not necessarily frosted. Shades and formulas that immediately jump to mind are MAC Ultimate Lipstick (especially Marque), UD Vice (and Revolution), and YSL.
“I’m a big fan of creamy, smoothing, hydrating, pigment saturated formulas…” Same!
Something very very matte (but in stick, not liquid formula) like mac retro matte or ud mega matte. Both these kinds of lipsticks are available only in limited colours. I would like to see a full colour range of retro mattes!
Sheer matte! I like how low-maintenance sheer products are but most of the options out there have some level of shine and a matte finish suits my aesthetic more.
All together now: Duo and multi- chromes. (sorrynotsorry) And super sparkly (but not gritty glitter). I’m loving the sheer but pigmented trend, and would love to see more of those, too.
Seconding sheer but pigmented. Let’s add bright while we’re at it…especially love this combo in summer.
Sheer and glossy with or without a little shimmer.
When I was younger I loved a high, glossy, vinyl lip. I always thought it made the lips look nice and juicy. As I have aged and other factors have come into play, lip lines, darkening lip pigmentation and actually realizing that I have very small lips and high gloss lips just make them look smaller, I have moved more towards a matte or satin lip. I also am a serious lip worrier so a more matte lip lasts longer. I do like a matte lip but it has to be comfortable so liquid lips don’t really work for me. I loved both the LuxeTrance and the MatteTrance formulas from PMGL. Now that I can’t get the LuxeTrance I pretty much stick with the matte. I like the CT Matte Revolution formula. So, something long lasting, doesn’t migrate and is comfortable to wear.
Shimmery but not too opaque in color, metallic without any glitter bits.
