Fenty Beauty Motorboat & Go Deep Poutsicle Juicy Satin Lipsticks Review & Swatches
Motorboat
Fenty Beauty Motorboat Poutsicle Juicy Satin Lipstick ($20.00 for 0.1 oz.) is a bright, medium sky blue with cool undertones and a glossy, cream finish. It had semi-opaque pigmentation but had too much slip–the color just did not apply evenly, had visible streaks along the edges, and pulled into my lip lines (from beginning to the end). It was comfortable to wear, but it was unflattering on and worsened over the four hours it lasted for, though it was hydrating at least! The good news: this was the worst of the range, so onward and upward from here!

Formula Overview
$20.00/0.1 oz. - $200.00 Per Ounce
The formula is supposed to have "bold" color with a "juicy, satin finish." They're bright, bold, and fairly pigmented (some being opaque, a couple being a bit under) with a smooth, creamy consistency that feels like a cross between a lipstick and a lip balm with a touch of tackiness but feels quite lightweight on. They have a bit of slip, so those who may find feathering to be a frequent issue may still want to pair with a lip liner or primer (but I didn't experience feathering myself).
The only shade that was particularly troublesome was Motorboat, which had less coverage and an uneven application. There was some of the feel of the Mattemoiselle range here, but it was definitely a glossier, creamier, and more hydrating direction. The shades lasted between four and six hours on me with some shades staining. The formula was lightly to moderately hydrating. They had a sweet, vanilla scent but no discernible taste.

Go Deep
Fenty Beauty Go Deep Poutsicle Juicy Satin Lipstick ($20.00 for 0.1 oz.) is a muted, medium-dark blue with subtle, cool undertones and a glossy, cream finish. It had nearly opaque color payoff in a single layer, which adhered evenly and smoothly to my lips. The texture was lightly creamy with a smooth, firmer consistency that melted slightly as it came into contact with the warmth of my lips, but it looked glossier than it felt. This shade stayed on nicely for five and a half hours, left a bluish stain behind, and was moisturizing while worn.

Holy toledo, Batman! Those are blue! Whoa. lol I wouldn’t wear any of these Fenty colors but glad you’re reviewing them! I bought the lavender powder in the VIB sale and have been loving it on my fair skin.
So glad to hear it gets better from here. I’ve been really eyeing the red and orange ones. Can’t wait to hear your review as always!
The darker blue one is gorgeous! If I wore colors like that, I would definitely jump on it. Shame on the lighter blue, but it looks like Nyx has a similar shade that has a good rating for those interested in a shade like that but with a better formula.
I am so drawn to Go Deep, but I must resist. I own one blue-related shade—Colourpop Getty—and although I love it, I rarely have an occasion to wear it, maybe a once or twice a year. The biggest problem with these shades is they don’t read well in certain lighting. Our favorite evening places have dark, warm lighting. It makes red and fuchsia lipstick shades pop, but blues and teals just look dark. So I should try to resist the temptation to buy this beautiful A-rated blue shade. Or maybe I’ll just go for it. Talk me out of it … or into it.
After seeing the swatches I knew Motorboat wouldn’t fare too well, but Go Deep performing so well is an excellent surprise! I believe anyone can pull off a blue lip so I love seeing brands embrace it and incorporate it into their launches. As poorly as Motorboat performed I can empathize with why they decided to release it, because I bet on top of a nude lip pencil (not beige-nude, but a nude that matches your skin tone) it would perform better. Plus think of all the new colors you could create if you mixed it with a matte lipstick/lip pencil; a little bit of Motorboat patted on top of a deep oxblood then blended in would create a gorgeous medium purple the color of passion fruit flower petals. I’ve made a “Shrek green” lipstick that’s designed to be mixed with pinks, reds, and plums which blends to create new MLBB & nude shades. I bet could do the same with Motorboat and corals, peaches, and orange lip colors; you’re just mixing complementary tones to create a new greige/beige/sienna in either circumstance. On its own Motorboat doesn’t seem that great, but I bet it would be an excellent team player within most anybody’s makeup stash.
Your comment reminded me of a lipstick I bought a couple years ago called Dreampot, which I see is listed as a dupe for Motorboat. I bought it solely as a mixing shade (worn alone it looked hilariously bad on me). I like how it turned MAC Matte Royal into a beautiful medium violet.
With tighter collections from smaller brands, I rather expect a passing grade for every product.
For those who look good in blue and would rock a blue lipstick, Go Deep is one drop-dead gorgeous blue!
I don’t fall safely into either category, so I will just enjoy it vicariously through those who can!
Loving this eye look!! I’ve been wanting to step out of my comfort zone and wear a blue lip stick. Maybe this one would work for me. It looks pretty on your lips.
Wow! Go Deep is amazing. I have UD Control, though, so I’ll probably skip. IDK for sure.
Gosh, how can one lippie be an A and another a D? The darker blue shade is a stunning blue, not that I would wear it.
FIERCE. LOOKS. with the black turtleneck #chefskiss
I bet Motorboat would look good patted in the center of Go Deep.
Thank you, Ginny!
Good grief, Christine — no one rocks a strong or dark blue lip like you! Those kinds of colors are made for you! I wear those colors, but they don’t make me look supernatural, the way they do you.
Thank you!
wow i just can’t believe Rihanna is putting a gun against my head and forcing me to buy my third dark blue lipstick this year
