Chillz

Fenty Beauty Chillz Killawatt Freestyle Highlighter ($34.00 for 0.28 oz.) is a bright, aqua blue base with flecks of icy blue and silver sparkle and glitter. If you love glittery highlighters, this might be in your wheelhouse, but for those who raise a brow at the mere mention of sparkle, then read this: it is ALL about the sparkle here!

The finish has a high-shine, wet-look to it because of how sparkly and metallic the highlighter was once buffed and blended on my skin. It had more semi-opaque, buildable coverage, and the base seemed more translucent but was chocked full of sparkle and glitz so it still seemed quite pigmented. This shade released during the holidays in the brand’s Killawatt palette, though I found the full-sized take to be less powdery, more sparkly, and easier to use, though it looked a little drier on my skin compared to other Killawatts. It emphasized my skin’s texture slightly as well. It wore nicely for eight hours before starting to fade noticeably, and there was slight migration of glitter over time.

Formula Overview

$36.00/0.28 oz. - $128.57 Per Ounce

The formula is described ranging from “subtle dayglow to insanely supercharged” with a “cream-powder hybrid” formula that feels “weightless” and is long-wearing. They can also be used on the eyes, body, lips, and so forth, per the brand. They feel like a traditional powder, but they have a smooth, moderately dense texture that doesn’t kick up a lot of excess product in the pan but also does not feel stiff or difficult to pickup with the brush. The finishes varied from shade to shade; where Metal Moon was the most subtle and had a satin-to-pearl finish, Trophy Wife was the most over-the-top with chunky, obvious glitter and less base color compared to the other shades.

The duos featured a light-to-moderate highlighter on the left and then a more sparkly, metallic highlighter on the right with the exception of Ginger Binge/Moscow Mule, where the left shade (Ginger Binge) was more intense (possibly owing to the richer color and payoff). In general, I found the left, more subtle side of each duo to be sheer to semi-sheer, somewhat buildable, whereas the right, more metallic side was substantially more pigmented. All of the more intense highlighters (Trophy Wife and the right side of the duos) did accentuate the look of my skin’s natural texture to some degree.

For use on the eye, they worked better with a slightly dampened brush, as it gave the powder a bit more binding powder for better adherence to the lid, but the ones I tried on the lid were blendable and easy to apply with no real concerns from the application itself other than the potential for fallout over time.

So many of these bluer/silvery-blue highlights have what looks like almost a grey cast to my eye and since I look grey enough on my own, it’s not a look I choose to intensify. These (not just this one but so many of this type of colour from Anastasia and so many other companies) just aren’t for me.

Oh gosh, Nancy. I always feel for you guys when summer roles around. I just don’t handle heat well anymore. Bad as our winter’s can be here I would much rather deal with the cold than the extreme heat. That is just me though. In the winter I can always throw on more clothes but you reach a point where removing clothes for summer just isn’t a good idea!
We occasionally get over 100 here but never lasts for more than a couple of days and is bearable. Most homes do not have air conditioning up here as it just isn’t needed.

This doesn’t really seem like anything unique to me, and silver/blue tones don’t really flatter my yellow skin, but it looks gorgeous on you!
Also, I love your earrings! I’m not sure if you already do this and I missed it somewhere, but you should definitely start listing where all of your unique earrings are from. 🙂

Thank you for replying! I really love unique earrings so I don’t know how I’ve never looked at anything by Ted Baker! He has so much beautiful stuff, but I think the beetle design takes the cake. I’ll have to check out that Etsy seller, too. 🙂
