Fenty Beauty Bomb Posse Mega Palette Review & Swatches
Bomb Posse
Fenty Beauty Bomb Posse Mega Mix & Match Eyeshadow Palette ($48.00 for 0.43 oz.) is a new, limited edition color story inspired by three of the brand’s lipgloss shades. The palette contained six mattes and six shimmers, and while there weren’t any spectacular shades, the shimmers were consistently worse than the mattes and were the reason the palette scored so low.
Fenty has been hit or miss on their eyeshadow palettes, but their last two releases were improved, so I had higher hopes for this one since the shades should have been pretty easy to get right as they are common neutral tones. Unfortunately, the shimmers were drier, thinner, and difficult to work with unless really pushing and jabbing at the surface to get powder to release from the surface; the mattes were also on the thin side with some powderiness, so the pigmentation and blendability were inconsistent.

Vanilla Cake
Vanilla Cake is a medium beige with warm, peachy undertones and a matte finish. It had semi-opaque pigmentation paired with a moderately powdery consistency that was slightly thin, so it was prone to sheering out once I started to blend out the edges and had some fallout during application. The eyeshadow showed signs of fading after seven hours of wear.

Formula Overview
-
The formula is supposed to have "rich, blendable color" that is available in "matte, shimmer, and glitter long-wear finishes." There were a few distinctive formulas used throughout the palettes in which the eyeshadows are housed, but generally, they were decent eyeshadows that were buildable, fairly blendable, and had decent wear, but I felt like most of the shimmers were thin, a little dusty, and had a tendency to look less shimmery once applied (almost a faded quality to them).
The matte formula was most consistent and had semi-opaque to opaque color coverage that went on fairly evenly and blended out without too much effort, though some deeper shades took longer to diffuse or went on patchily initially and had to be diffused and blended out to a more even application. The wear ranged from seven to eight hours on me before they showed signs of fading.
The shimmer formula was typically thin, dusty, and more prone to sheering out or looking somewhat "faded" and less shimmery after a few minutes on my lid. There were a few shades that seemed to have a denser, thicker formulation that offered greater intensity in its shimmer finish but had light fallout and looked thicker on the lid, so they did not layer as well with the other shades (which were thinner). The wear ranged from six to eight hours before fading.
The glitters had a gritty feel to them, as one might expect of a glitter-packed product, with decent spreadability. The wear ranged from seven to eight hours with light to moderate fallout.

Balla'rina
Ball’arina is a light pink with cooler undertones and iridescent micro-sparkle that gave it a more frosted finish. It had sheer color coverage, partially a result of the firmer, drier, and stiffer texture.
I had to really jab and push at the surface of the pan to dislodge product, which was somewhat buildable, but it didn’t adhere well to bare skin and had a fair amount of fallout. The only way to make it workable was to use it with a dampened brush or a fingertip (which still had some fallout). It lasted for six hours and had additional fallout over time.

La’Bronze is a light-medium copper with warm, orange undertones and flecks of chartreuse shimmer throughout. The consistency was drier, thinner, and stiffer to work with, though it softened slightly after a few uses. It had mostly opaque, buildable color coverage that did not apply as evenly as ideal. I’d recommend using it with a fingertip or a dampened brush as the latter helped to smooth out the product. This shade stayed on well for seven and a half hours before fading noticeably.

Beverly Chillz
Beverly Chillz is a medium copper base with flecks of pink and lighter copper sparkle throughout. The texture was firmer, stiffer, and more challenging to work with when using a brush. I was able to get more opaque coverage using a fingertip or else I had to really push and jab at the powder to get enough to loosen to swatch/use. It applied best with a dampened brush for a smooth application. This shade wore decently for seven and a half hours on me.

Get This Bread
Get This Bread is a deep brown with subtle, cool undertones and a matte finish. The consistency was soft, somewhat powdery, and thinner, which I found resulted in patchier application and made it harder to blend out. It had mostly opaque, buildable pigmentation that lasted well for seven and a half hours before fading visibly.

Hot Chocolit
Hot Chocolit is a deep, richer brown with warm, red undertones and a metallic sheen. It had rich pigmentation with a denser, firmer texture that was creamier and easier to work with than the other shimmers in the palette, though still not a top tier shimmer. There were signs of fading after eight hours of wear.

I dunno…I’ve never been “wowed” by anything Fenty. Aside from the gloss. Which is a good gloss, not groundbreaking like I think some people hear when we talk it up as a good gloss, but it’s good. And I wonder if it’s a favorite for so many because the rest of the products are actually kind of “meh” with Rihanna backing them to add interest….
So long waited for. Finally, a larger seemingly permanent palette. But, such a letdown. We know that she can give us better than this, because she’s done it before.
OMG – this is so, so awful. Hardly any decent shades and all the bronzey shimmers look so much alike, it’s not funny. Apart from the lovely Hot Chocolit shade, none of this palette appeals to me as a neutral palette – and I love my neutral palettes.
A big, big disappointment from Fenty.
Wow am I glad I waited for the review!!!!!
I don’t own anything from this brand. Nothing so far has moved me. Just from the promo pics of this palette, it seemed pointless but didn’t think it would rate this bad.
Actually she has a few really good quality items, like the Gloss Bombs (if you like the smell, which I do) and her certain of her eye pencils. But overall I agree with you and especially the eyeshadows. I have zero of the Fenty palettes.
The colours look pretty but that white plastic…! Then you read the review and it kind of matches the plastic doesn’t?
No great loss for me as this is yet another palette chock full of colours I would never wear.
Fenty (which always reminds me of Fendi! ahahah!) always brings Kylie Jenner to mind. I used to think to myself, are her products that awesome? Are they really that great? I love to shop but I really never felt the urge and then it ended up coming out Forbes got it wrong, it was all down to aggressive marketing. Oops! Whenever I see Fenty stuff I wonder the same. Are they really that great? The shopper in me doesn’t even bat an eyelid for Fenty stuff.
Fenty is Kendo. Anyone who reads here knows that Kendo can do top shelf eyeshadow. Yet Fenty e/s is always somewhere between mediocre and crappy. There’s really no excuse for that. Maybe all Rihanna has for input is the color story and the names of shades. If I were she, I’d be pretty pissed at having this palette with my name on it.
