Dior Magnify High Fidelity Eyeshadow Palette Review, Photos, Swatches
Magnify
Dior Magnify High Fidelity Eyeshadow Palette ($62.00 for 0.24 oz.) is a new, permanent eyeshadow palette that is more purple-hued. It has a new formula that’s supposed to have “highly pigmented” color with “spectacular staying power.” The formula was better than some of the past iterations from Dior, though it was still more semi-opaque to opaque in coverage but had seven to eight hour wear. The big difference that I noticed was in the texture; it was firmer (but not stiff) in the pan and had less dustiness than some of the past formulations. For a palette with variations on purple, it actually did quite well!

Magnify #1
Magnify #1 is a silvery white with an iridescent pink shift paired with a frosted sheen. It had semi-opaque pigmentation with a soft, smooth consistency that wasn’t powdery and blended easily without losing its intensity. This shade lasted for seven and a half hours on me before fading.

Magnify #2
Magnify #2 is a soft, pinky lavender with subtle, warm undertones and a pearly sheen. The texture was soft, silky, and just a bit on the dustier side, but it still applied evenly and did not sheer out too readily. It had good pigmentation that wore well for seven hours.

Magnify #3
Magnify #3 is a medium-dark purple with subtle, warm undertones and a pearly sheen. The color payoff was opaque, while the eyeshadow felt smooth to the touch with a smidgen of powderiness in the pan, but it applied easily and stayed true-to-pan after blending. It wore well for eight hours on me before fading.

Magnify #4
Magnify #4 is a soft, light mauve with subtle, warm undertones and a metallic sheen. The eyeshadow had a smooth, firmer texture (without being stiff or difficult to pickup color from) that yielded opaque, even color coverage on the lid. I noticed fading after seven and a half hours of wear.

Magnify #5
Magnify #5 is a dark eggplant with subtle, warm undertones and a satin finish. It had good pigmentation that applied evenly and blended out without much effort, though it wasn’t quite as effortless to use as other shades in the palette. The texture was smooth, firmer in the pan (but still soft enough to use with a brush), and not too dusty or too firm in the pan. The color wore well for eight hours before fading noticeably.

Wow – there are some really vibrant purples in this – #3 and 5 are just crazy pigmented. Way back when I was in highschool, I bought a Merle Norman eyeshadow palette in bright purples (and then was too self-conscious to wear it as this was back in the days of “natural looks” and I was actually living in a commune with a bunch of back to nature/health food types!). Seeing this quad made me think of that palette.
Awww! I love reading makeup memories!
Very pretty! I was not expecting it to do so well.
Neither was I!
What a beautiful purple palette! And by Dior? Who’d have thunk it?!? Yup, for purples, this one is so much nicer than the usual washed out, patchy, poor payoff purple palettes we’re used to seeing! ?
I know!! It was impressive!
I love this whole palette, but I REALLY dig #5. It’s so beautiful!!!
I’m impressed with this!a plummy purple dior shadow palette, and it’s a B+? Good in my books!
This one is a beauty! It would make the green in my eyes pop. But I already have very similar shades in my stash so I don’t really need it… I might still grab it if only just to try the new formula!
The new formula seems to be an improvement from the old one so far!
I’m glad the Dior quints, did I get that right, hmmm, I’ve a cold and my brain is hardly working, anyway I’m glad they have finally managed to make a good-ish little palette. This does remaind me of another, old one, but I might mix things up.
I love the look you did. Really gorgeous.
I hope you feel better soon, Helene!
Thank you!
This looks gorgeous on you. Looks as if Dior has upped their e/s game. So few UD and CP dupes struck me. Def worth a look/swatch. Lol, Mariella! Haven’t bought a Dior quint in ages…missed a few stellar ones, but no massive loss. Using that old linear quad as offbeat highlighters, though.
Oooooooh this reminds me so much of the first eyeshadow palette I had for years and that I received as a gift! It is definitely warmer and richer… But purple is one of my favourite colours to wear on the eye. For good memories’ sake I might crab it.
I am impressed by the performances. Also love that it is permanent.
Uh oh, a purple kit that scores well??? And am I hallucinating or is that Dior brand? I’m quite thrilled with my Viseart Amethyst kit, but looks like I will need to check this one out ! I would LOVE to add to my Dior quint collection again, it’s been ages
Another great quint from Dior – wow, it’s amazing that all of them this season have been pretty good. This will be a winner for all of the purple lovers.
#3 remind me of the new YSL Full Metal Shadow in #18, Violet Wave
I also wanted to say that I truly enjoy your site and your IG postings. Your dog looks friendly and adorable!
Christine I love the eye look you created it really makes the different colors in your eyes pop. I really like this palette a lot.
I love this palette and of course your example is stunning. I would like to know what eyeliner you are using with it. Thank you!
Yay! You reviewed Magnify! And it did well! Since I love cool to subtly warm pinks and purples I have lots of dupes, but this would make a great palette for travel, all I’d have to add is UD Naked Basics & I’m set! 🙂
Dior did a palette well? And it’s PURPLES? Shocking!
Wow! I really like this!
Love a half decent purple palette! I have dupes for pretty much every shade but I lover that they’re all together in a quint. The fave is the middle shade, just adore a deep purple! Very tempted to get this!
Looks good! If you want your purples to pop do an undercoat of fuschia eyeliner on your lids.
