Cover FX Sweet Mulberry Monochromatic Blush Duo Review & Swatches
Sweet Mulberry
Cover FX Sweet Mulberry Monochromatic Blush Duo ($38.00 for 0.51 oz.) includes a cooler, deeper plum with more of a matte finish paired with a shimmering, plummy bronze with a luminous finish. I liked that this duo was a little more contrasting–a bit of coolness and warmth playing together but still on the more monochromatic side. Both shades were pigmented, blendable, and long-wearing with little to complain about.

The duo includes both a "monochromatic matte and shimmer shade" that can be used "individually or layer[ed] together." The blushes are described as having "high-impact payoff" with no other specifics. The consistency of the matte shades was incredibly silky, finely-milled, and smooth without being powdery--they were thinner but not difficult to apply and sat well on bare skin as well as over foundation. The pigmentation ranged from semi-opaque to opaque and was definitely buildable.
Both the matte and shimmer products wore between eight and nine hours on me.

Sweet Mulberry (Left)
Sweet Mulberry (Left) is a muted, medium-dark plum with subtle, cool undertones and a natural, matte finish. It had nearly opaque pigmentation that was easily built up for full coverage or used with a lighter hand (or less-dense brush) for sheerer, more buildable coverage. The consistency was smooth to the touch, velvety without being dry or powdery, and blendable on my skin with a beautiful, skin-like finish. It wore well for nine hours on me before fading slightly.

Sweet Mulberry (Right)
Sweet Mulberry (Right) is a deeper, plummy bronze with warmer, browner undertones and cooler, plummy shimmer that gave it a luminous sheen. It was richly pigmented, where a little went a long way, but the shimmer was softer and finer, so the more I blended it out on my skin, the smoother and more luminous the blush looked applied. The texture was smooth to the touch, dense without being too firmly pressed in the pan, and easy to blend out. It stayed on nicely for eight and a half hours before I noticed slight fading.

The shimmery shades were slightly firmer with more of a powder-gel hybrid consistency that is firmer, denser but is often smoother and more "melted" when applied and blended out on skin. For this type of formula, I'd recommend a moderately dense blush or highlighter brush. Most of the shimmery shades had a luminous sheen--smoother, shinier finish but not intense or metallic. I found that layering the matte over the shimmer to yield a more intense shimmer effect, which is more of a tip from me to you than a pro/con.
Both the matte and shimmer products wore between eight and nine hours on me.

If the formula were sheerer, I’d be all over this duo.
Same!
This is a pretty duo, also, but for my first pick I am going with the coral. This one will work well with my skin tone and colours that I like to wear but also is very pigmented which means I have to be careful applying. I usually brush off on my wrist before going to cheek but it is nice when I don’t have to worry about that. I am really excited to swatch these when I get to Seattle!!
Too dark for me, but I’d be drooling if this was an eyeshadow duo!
I am tempted by this – I have so many mauve blushes but I think this is deeper, more nuanced and definitely plummier. H’mmmm…
This looks so rich that it makes me think of plum damask fabric! LOVE!
I really like the colour of this and I love plum blushes generally but I fear this could end up looking like a bruise on me unless I use a very light hand.
This is a gorgeous duo and I bet it would look just as good as an eyeshadow.
I think this is my favorite of the bunch!
So rich, such a gorgeous duo.
