ColourPop x Hocus Pocus Witching Hour Eyeshadow Palette Review & Swatches

Witching Hour
ColourPop Witching Hour 12-Pan Pressed Powder Shadow Palette ($18.00 for 0.36 oz.) is a new, limited edition eyeshadow palette that included five shimmery shades and seven matte shades. Most shades were semi-opaque to fully opaque, but the formula on the shimmers made them best applied with a fingertip or a dampened brush. The mattes seemed a little thinner than recent releases, but they were fairly blendable and long-wearing.
Witching Hour
LELimited Edition. $22.00.

300 Years
300 Years is a medium-dark, golden peach with strong, warm undertones and a metallic sheen. It had rich color payoff paired with a soft, lightly creamy texture that was more loosely-pressed but not prone to fallout. It stayed on well for eight hours before fading visibly.

The new Pressed Powder Shadow formula is supposed to be “highly pigmented” with an “ultra-velvety and silky” texture that is “long-wearing” and “adheres easily to the eyes.” Most of the shades have semi-opaque to opaque pigmentation that applies well to bare skin, blends out without issue, and lasts for seven to eight hours.
The matte eyeshadows tend to be a little more powdery, though soft and finely-milled, in the pan, while the shimmers have a creamier, dense consistency. Occasionally, the more sparkly or metallic shades apply better with fingertips or a dampened brush.

All Hallow's Eve
All Hallow’s Eve is a very light orange with strong, warm yellow undertones and a matte finish. The texture was soft, smooth, and somewhat powdery in the pan, but it maintained its opacity when applied to bare skin but still blended out with ease. This shade lasted well for eight hours before fading noticeably.

Moon is Round
Moon is Round is a bright, yellowy orange with strong, warm undertones and a matte finish. The eyeshadow had opaque color coverage with a smooth, more velvety texture that was moderately powdery, so I had to be careful to tap off excess to avoid fallout. It wore nicely for eight hours before fading a bit.

Bubble Bubble
Bubble Bubble is a deeper orange-coral with warm undertones and lighter, peachy-gold shimmer that gave it a frosted finish. It had opaque color coverage paired with a moderately-dense consistency that wasn’t overly firm but felt a little drier once I started to apply it to my lid so it didn’t go on as smoothly as I expected. It wore nicely for eight hours before fading visibly.

Twist the Bones
Twist the Bones is a medium purple with warmer, pink undertones and flecks of violet and silver pearl throughout. It had a drier, thinner texture that was best applied with a fingertip or a dampened brush as it resulted in a smoother, more even application of color. It had opaque pigmentation applied dry, so it was really a texture issue. This shade showed signs of fading after seven and a half hours of wear.

Circle of Salt
Circle of Salt has a blackened base with emerald green shimmer and sparkle throughout. It had mostly opaque, buildable pigmentation that applied fairly evenly to bare skin but definitely had to be layered and diffused a little more than other shimmers in the palette as the texture was slightly drier and thinner. It stayed on well for eight hours before fading a bit.

Nice palette but I can dupe it. I started to buy this palette but choose the older rereleased “Gather Round Sisters” Hocus Pocus palette instead. I also ordered the mirror fro my daughter who loves cats.
It’s a much more colourful palette that what we are used to seeing from CP and thank goodness, not pink themed. It has a good range of shades and generally they are well done.
But not for me – waaay too many mattes and orangey shades.
This is an easy skip for me.
I kind of like Circle of Salt, Twist the Bones and Hello Billy but I don’t like them enough to buy this palette. It’s far too warm toned for me.
I also have a feeling they could have made it a lot more fun, as it is it’s, for me, just another warm toned, for lighter skin neutral palette with a few pops of colour.
There’s something very pleasing about these colors together. Each shade individually isn’t right for me – all that orange. I can’t explain why I’m so drawn to this palette – it’s put a spell on me! XD
It drives me NUTS that “Green Newt” is not even the slightest bit green. I’d accept a dirty olive because IRL most newts are not vividly green, but brown?!
