ColourPop Wild Nothing Eyeshadow Palette Review & Swatches
Wild Nothing
ColourPop Wild Nothing 12-Pan Pressed Powder Shadow Palette ($18.00 for 0.36 oz.) is a new release that includess six matte shades and six shimmer shades. The quality was so-so; for a ColourPop release, it was below the bar they’ve set so high in the past. There was some powderiness present that resulted in sheerer coverage or fallout, and two shades were quite sheer without being described as such (so they rated very poorly for pigmentation). I didn’t have blending issues, and most of the shades lasted eight hours on me.
I found that this palette was less versatile than most of their past palettes; the five shimmers look very similar on–they’re all very light and bright, so they kind of look like various shades of off-white with slightly different finishes. I was originally aiming to go green-to-orange, but it was hard to differentiate the two.

Crystal Cove
Crystal Cove is a light beige with warm, yellow undertones and a mostly matte finish. It had random flecks of sparkle that disappeared during application but didn’t seem to show up as fallout. The texture was moderately powdery, so it sheered out a bit and had fallout if I wasn’t careful to tap off the excess. It had good color coverage in a single layer that lasted well for seven and a half hours before fading.

The new Pressed Powder Shadow formula is supposed to be “highly pigmented” with an “ultra-velvety and silky” texture that is “long-wearing” and “adheres easily to the eyes.” Most of the shades have semi-opaque to opaque pigmentation that applies well to bare skin, blends out without issue, and lasts for seven to eight hours.
The matte eyeshadows tend to be a little more powdery, though soft and finely-milled, in the pan, while the shimmers have a creamier, dense consistency. Occasionally, the more sparkly or metallic shades apply better with fingertips or a dampened brush.

Salton
Salton is a pale, white gold with a sparkling sheen and a seemingly transparent base. It felt like a Super Shock Shadow to me, so it was a cream-to-powder consistency that had light creaminess initially but was thin and felt more powder-like upon application to my skin.
It had semi-sheer color coverage that didn’t build up well; the more I tried, the patchier and more uneven it appeared, so I’d recommend using it as more of a layering shade or brightening shade. The eyeshadow stayed on well for 10 hours without fading or creasing.

Formula Overview

ColourPop Super Shock Shadow is a cream-based formula that comes in a multitude of shades and finishes. The more metallic shades have the most slip to them (they have a “wetter” feel), while the more matte ones have a firmer, more clay-like consistency. Almost every shade I’ve tried from ColourPop has been exceptionally long-wearing (10+ hours of wear, usually there until I remove, even 14 hours later). The pigmentation can vary from shade to shade, but the average shade is quite pigmented.
From feedback I’ve seen from readers, many love them but some don’t like them at all. They aren’t a traditional cream eyeshadow, as they are denser (more sponge-like), and they apply best with flat, firm, synthetic brushes (I like the MAC 242 and 249) for me. The brand recommends using fingers for the most pigmented application, but I’ve only felt that fingers were necessary on a few shades (usually the super glittery ones).
The more matte shades can be on the drier side and vary from medium to opaque in coverage, though they're often buildable. They can be a little hard to diffuse the edges of, though some are lovely to work with.
The more glittery shades have been the weakest to me, as they can be sheerer or harder to apply. Sometimes, they are more pigmented and work like the other finishes in the formula, but often, they are sheerer and only function well patted on top of more pigmented eyeshadows to add glitter. They do, however, tend to have little fallout over time with the occasional shade having a more moderate amount of fallout (but still less fallout than most powder eyeshadows with glitter).

Coastline
Coastline is a very light, yellowy beige with strong, warm undertones and a bright, metallic sheen. It was very light and bright, so it read lighter when applied to bare skin and in practice as the light reflected off of it. The texture was soft, silky but lightly powdery, so it was best patted/pressed into place, then blended to avoid fallout (which caused some ashiness of deeper mattes). It wore well for eight hours before fading noticeably.

Top Down (Wild Nothing)
Top Down is a light peach with moderate, warm undertones and a matte finish. It appeared slightly pinker when applied to my skin than it seemed in the pan, and the white base seemed to come through, which gave it a bit of a lighter look when blended out.
The consistency was soft, blendable but fairly powdery and needed to be used with a lighter hand to avoid fallout. It had semi-opaque coverage that did not build up without a primer. It lasted decently for seven and a half hours before fading a bit.

Morningside
Morningside is a medium orange with moderate, warm undertones and a matte finish. It had semi-opaque color coverage in a single layer, which applied fairly evenly and blended out well along the edges, but there was light fallout and a tendency to sheer out as it was moderately powdery in texture. It wore well for eight hours before showing signs of fading.

Seashells is a very light green with strong, warm golden shimmer and a metallic finish. It had good pigmentation that was buildable to full coverage with less than half of a layer more. The consistency felt drier and more loosely-pressed, so there was light fallout during application. This shade lasted well for eight hours before fading visibly.

Alcove
Alcove is a light orange with strong, warm undertones and a sparkling finish. The texture was more loosely-pressed with chunkier shimmer/sparkle, so there was light fallout when I worked with it. The base seemed to fade or lose some intensity after initial application as this shade looked more whitish when applied to my skin.
It had semi-opaque color coverage that only built up when applied with a dampened brush. It stayed on decently for seven and a half hours with light fallout over time.

Spirited
Spirited seemed to have a sheer, peachy base with flecks of lighter copper and darker copper sparkle. It had sheer coverage, which did not build up well as it thickened in places but didn’t actually have more opacity.
There was nothing from the brand’s description that indicated it was going to be sheer (they call it a “warm taupe;” taupe would like to have a word!). Again, if you’re someone who likes a wash of sparkle or wants to pat this over another shade, it could work for that but isn’t properly marketed that way! It seemed to last for nine hours on me but was hard to tell.

Come Together
Come Together is a light taupe with subtle, warm undertones and a matte finish. It had excellent pigmentation with a soft, lightly powdery but blendable, consistency that applied evenly and was easy to work with. The color lasted nicely for eight hours before fading visibly.

Formula Overview
$4.50/0.05 oz. - $90.00 Per Ounce

No Bounds
No Bounds is a dark brown with subtle, warm undertones and a matte finish. The eyeshadow had nearly opaque color coverage that applied evenly to bare skin and blended out without difficulty along the edges. The consistency was soft, lightly powdery but not prone to fallout or sheering out. It wore well for eight hours before fading a bit.

Money saved, thank you, Christine! I feel like many past palettes from Colourpop have all these shades already, and the formulation seem to be better than this as well. The color story is not interesting despite the cute packaging. I hope they can come up with a unique cool-toned palette at some point. The endless renditions of the same kind of shades make this a hard pass for me, especially during a time when people are shopping their stash and not spending money unless it’s something really special.
This looks so disappointing! I think you were being generous on some of the shadows 😉 they look so dry! Not even sure they would show up on my pale skin!
I’m guessing that their rendition of a desert landscape is Death Valley. This is so bland looking that even if the quality and pigmentation had been there (and it clearly isn’t), this would have been an easy one to skip. If only it would have contained all the pretty shades on its outside packaging!
Death Valley – too funny, Nancy! And spot on!
Hmn, well, “Nothing” is a good description for this palette. Nothing inspiring to see here.
Good thing I put my money on the Wayne Goss big pan eyeshadow palette. It might be the same old warm color story for most, but I am very late to the warm eyeshadow party.
I’m so disappointed with how this one turned out. I love the color scheme and I wanted to support their decision to not include a pressed glitter this time, but those shimmers are invisible.
I had a feeling this one was going to be to pastel for my tastes. I saw the packaging and thought it would be a nice moving to Arizona present to myself but I’m nearly out of money! I need to get to cleaning out my makeup collection and packing up what I’m keeping. Colour Pop has been slipping a bit from what I’ve been seeing.
Welcome to AZ!!
Thanks, Christine! I’m looking forward to it, really. Let’s just get this moving on short notice stuff over with.
Well, uh, at least seashells is pretty… ?
*Sigh* Removes item from cart and puts back on shelf. Lol thank you for saving me money, glad I snoozed on ordering it the day it launched and saw your review first.
Gosh, haven’t CP dropped the ball! Half of the shades are dupes for one another, they are so wishy washy that nearly most of the shades wouldn’t even show up. The only shade that was kind of interesting was Seashells.
No dupes for Seashells? Is that an oversight, or is it a unique shade?
Sorry, I missed entering them – I remain poor at proofreading!
This looks like a palette of transition shades. Which I sure don’t need…
Yep chasing a lead here with this colour story. Blush tones with a pop of pale green. As a pale girl, I like it and a few brands have done this but it doesn’t fit the story they are selling with the collection branding.
Seashells isn’t even really what I would call green – it’s a vaguely green tinted insipid pile of metallic eyeshadow sadness 🙁
The rest is just B. L. A. N. D. The palette packaging is super pretty but when that’s about the nicest thing you can say about a Colourpop release, then it’s not really a good sigh.
I visited Death Valley in January—everything was brown, but there was still more variation than this. ? Pale yellow brown, deep red brown, green brown, blue brown…to paraphrase the colors I listed as we passed through Artist’s Drive.
I just got this palette the other day and was very sad that Seashells wasn’t a bit more olive. Instead it’s like yellow ish green and it just doesn’t do well on my skin tone.
This is actually my favorite colourpop palette of all time. The color story is beyond beautiful for everyday use and all the shades compliment my skin tone. As I collect colourpop palettes I pretty much purchase every release, so I was so surprised that this became my favorite! I found that all the shadows blended well and are buildable. The super shocks are great highlighters or eyeshadow toppers.
I love the Wild Nothings palette as well. Do you own Garden Variety? Are they too similar? Do you like it? It seems like a good companion palette. It seems a bit darker.
