Moon and Swoon

ColourPop Moon and Swoon Super Shock Shadow Duo ($5.00 for 0.07 oz.) contains a pale, glittery peach and a pinky-berry. Both shades lasted well and were easy enough to work with, though the lighter half was sheerer and more of a brightening or layering shade. When I layered Moon over Swoon, the resulting combo was a lighter, brighter take on Swoon with more sparkle.

Moon

Moon is a soft, pale peach base with flecks of iridescent sparkle–gave me flashes of aqua-green and pink mostly–with a glittery finish. It had medium coverage that adhered well to bare skin with a flat, synthetic brush or fingertip. The texture felt slightly wet, emollient, and blended out nicely without becoming uneven or having fallout. It wore well for 10 hours with just a bit of fallout at the end.

Formula Overview

$6.00/0.07 oz. - $85.71 Per Ounce

ColourPop Super Shock Shadow is a cream-based formula that comes in a multitude of shades and finishes. The more metallic shades have the most slip to them (they have a “wetter” feel), while the more matte ones have a firmer, more clay-like consistency. Almost every shade I’ve tried from ColourPop has been exceptionally long-wearing (10+ hours of wear, usually there until I remove, even 14 hours later). The pigmentation can vary from shade to shade, but the average shade is quite pigmented.

From feedback I’ve seen from readers, many love them but some don’t like them at all. They aren’t a traditional cream eyeshadow, as they are denser (more sponge-like), and they apply best with flat, firm, synthetic brushes (I like the MAC 242 and 249) for me. The brand recommends using fingers for the most pigmented application, but I’ve only felt that fingers were necessary on a few shades (usually the super glittery ones).

The more matte shades can be on the drier side and vary from medium to opaque in coverage, though they're often buildable.  They can be a little hard to diffuse the edges of, though some are lovely to work with.

The more glittery shades have been the weakest to me, as they can be sheerer or harder to apply.  Sometimes, they are more pigmented and work like the other finishes in the formula, but often, they are sheerer and only function well patted on top of more pigmented eyeshadows to add glitter.  They do, however, tend to have little fallout over time with the occasional shade having a more moderate amount of fallout (but still less fallout than most powder eyeshadows with glitter).

Swoon

Swoon is a medium-dark berry with cool undertones and a satiny sheen. It had opaque pigmentation with a smooth, blendable texture that was lightly spongy, emollient without being slippery, and worked well with brushes. It stayed on nicely for 10 hours without fading or creasing on me.

Chase the Light

Chase the Light ($5.00 for 0.07 oz.) is a muted, medium copper with strong, warm orange undertones and flecks of pink-to-copper sparkle. It had good color coverage that adhered unevenly to bare skin, as the eyeshadow seemed to have too much slip and had a tendency to emphasize my lid texture. I had to use a fingertip to really build and press the product onto my inner lid to get it to look decent. It lasted well for 10 hours without fading or creasing, though.

Dream Lover

Dream Lover ($5.00 for 0.07 oz.) is a brighter, medium-dark copper base with warmer, pink and plum shimmer, plus blue-to-violet shifting sparkle. It had good color coverage, though it felt a bit more emollient and had more slip as a result, so the base had translucency to it. However, with as much sparkle as it had, that slight sheerness wasn’t noticeable when it was applied to the lid. The eyeshadow wore beautifully for 10 hours without fading, creasing, or having fallout.

Sleep Tight

Sleep Tight ($5.00 for 0.07 oz.) is an intense, rich fuchsia pink with strong, cool blue undertones and a glittery finish. It had rich color payoff in a single layer with a lightly creamy consistency; it was a bit drier to the touch compared to the average Super Shock Shadow but wasn’t difficult to apply or to blend out along the edges. It stayed on well for 10 hours without fading or creasing on me.

Rest More ($5.00 for 0.07 oz.) is a bright, medium-dark purple-blue with cool undertones and flecks of pink micro-glitter. This shade lasted well for 10 hours without creasing, fading, or having fallout.

Nocturnal

Nocturnal ($5.00 for 0.07 oz.) is a light-medium pink with subtle, warm undertones and flecks of gold and blue micro-glitter. It had medium, buildable pigmentation with a lightly creamy, moderately emollient texture that was lightweight and thin, but it had a tendency to sheer out when blended and did not apply as evenly (though the lightness of the color made that less noticeable). It wore well for 10 hours with very little fallout and no creasing or fading on me.
