ColourPop Magic Wand Ultra Satin Liquid Lipstick
ColourPop Magic Wand Ultra Satin Liquid Lipstick ($6.00 for 0.11 fl. oz.) is described as a “light nude.” It’s a light-medium, peachy-beige with neutral-to-warm undertones and a satin sheen. The consistency of this one had more slip and felt wetter overall, so it took a bit longer to “dry” down (they never fully set, but they become mostly transfer-proof when they dry) and was more prone to highlighting lip lines, even from the initial application. This shade wore well for five hours, but it had some color settled into lip lines over time and faded more noticeably from the center of the lip than other shades in the range. It was neither drying nor hydrating. MAC Yash (P, $19.00) is darker, less glossy (95% similar). MAC The Right Note (LE, $19.00) is darker (95% similar). Marc Jacobs Beauty Fawn Over Me (P, $28.00) is warmer (90% similar). Maybelline Nude Embrace (P, $7.99) is lighter (95% similar). MAC Lady Be Good (P, $21.00) is less glossy (90% similar). MAC Nearly Nude (LE, $19.00) is lighter (90% similar). Bite Beauty Honeycomb (DC, $26.00) is lighter (90% similar). Estee Lauder Covetous Nude (P, $32.00) is darker, less glossy (90% similar). ColourPop Echo Park Ultra Satin Liquid Lipstick ($6.00 for 0.11 fl. oz.) is described as a “warm peachy nude.” It’s a muted, medium peachy-beige with warm undertones and a satin finish. It had great color payoff that applied evenly and yielded smooth color that sat well on the lips. The color wore really well–six hours–and very slightly maneuvers into lip lines at the four and a half hour mark. It was neither drying nor hydrating. Too Faced Sorry Not Sorry (P, $22.00) is lighter, cooler, less glossy (95% similar). MAC Doe (DC, $21.00) is lighter (90% similar). KVD Beauty Ophelia (P, $19.00) is warmer (95% similar). Hourglass I Cherish (LE, $34.00) is darker, warmer (90% similar). ColourPop Third Eye (P, $7.00) is darker, cooler (90% similar). Too Faced Birthday Suit (P, $22.00) is glossier (90% similar). Tom Ford Beauty La Nudite (P, $60.00) is darker, more muted (90% similar). ColourPop Appy (P, $10.00) is darker, warmer (85% similar). Charlotte Tilbury JK Magic (P, $37.00) is cooler, glossier (85% similar). Tom Ford Beauty Sable Smoke (P, $57.00) is warmer, lower quality, glossier (85% similar). FORMULA OVERVIEW | ColourPop Ultra Satin Liquid Lipstick ($6.00 for 0.11 fl. oz.) is supposed to be a “lightweight, bold lipstick with a satin finish” that is “extra intense colour saturation” and “long-wearing,” but the brand is quick to note that it is “not completely kiss proof.” The consistency is very light to lightweight with a thin to mousse-like consistency–they feel a little heavier going on than the Ultra Matte formula, but they don’t feel heavy on. They dry down somewhat, but it isn’t a full, flat dry down like matte liquid lipsticks, and when you press your lips together, there is moderate tackiness there, but I didn’t notice any lifting or separating of color by doing so. Thus far, they have been extremely long-wearing and comfortable to wear for the most part–it’s after ten hours or so that I notice my lips feeling a little dry–but six hours into wear and the colors have looked good post-meals/post-drinking. I think if you like the idea of longer-wearing, mostly matte lip color but find most liquid lipsticks too drying or too flat while not needing an ultra-hydrating formula, you might like these.

This color is so beautiful on you. I think this will look good on me because I have similar to you. ??
Thank you, Jeanine Marie!
ooh, I’ve had my eye on Echo Park and it looks great on you – love it paired with that eye look.
Yay!
I love the color of Echo Park. I put it on for the first time Sat. night and headed out to meet a girlfriend for dinner and drinks. I honestly, wound up taking it off after a few hours because we decided to go to a party. It was going going into my lip lines and drying a little more than I like. I’m 40. So, keep that in mind. I also had liner on. Maybe, I’ll try it again without liner and just use a brush to get the edges crisp. I’m wondering if the layer of liner under could of added bulk that made it go into my lip lines? My lips are in pretty good shape. I was stumped. because, I love Frick N Frack and all of the other shades I’ve tried so far!
I haven’t wore these with liners, so I’m not sure, but what a surprise! What other shades besides Frick ‘n’ Frack have you tried? The lighter beige-y shades have been the least impressive (I think Magic Wand may be the lowest rated, actually).
I’ve only worn Frick N Frack ,which I love, and The rabbit. I filled in my lips with the liner and then applied. I wonder if it could have made too many layers. It was also the first time I used it and I don’t remember mixing it up. I’ll play with it.
These look like wearable nudes and very pretty! But on you it’s very deceiving, literally everything looks good on you!
You’re too kind, Ariella!
It’s nice that this formula is performing pretty consistently 🙂
It is!
What do you have on your eyes, is it the PB&J Palette?
MAKE-UP LOOK
ON FACE:
Tarte Rainforest of the Sea Aqua Foundation
Guerlain Les Voilettes Loose Setting Powder
Zoeva Nude Spectrum Blush Palette
ON EYES:
Too Faced Peanut Butter & Jelly Eyeshadow Palett
Both are pretty, but I like Echo Park a little more. I prefer that it’s more pink-toned than Magic Wand.
Awesome!
These colors would give me total zombie lips, but they look nice on you
Thank you, Katherine!
These are great nudes on you, as far as color. Especially Magic Wand
Thanks, Indya!
Neither are for me but they both look great on the lips!
They do!
I got Magic Wand in my most recent CP order, it’s like my 7th ultra satin I think, and I like it the least out of all of mine so far. I wish I’d ordered echo park instead, because it’s just a “blah” color on me, totally just blends into my face.
Magic Wand seemed to be one of the under-performers compared to other shades!
Christine, I wonder if you watched the colourpop headquarter visit video on Youtube. I feel very concerned about the hygiene during the production. From that vlog, it could be seen that the products were all hand made, AND the workers were only wearing gloves and hairnets, no face masks whatsoever, and there was a lot of talking going on, which I imagine at some point, someone would inevitably spit a tiny drop of saliva which would land into the eye shadow, blush, whatever. And one scene was when the worker was stirring the eye shadow with a stirring rod, and then let that blogger swatch it!! That appeared to be a jar of eye shadow mixture in the making, and she just touched it with her bare hands!!! I’m personally very grossed out by that.
They may have been in an area that is primarily for testing/developing products but not for mass production – e.g. they are creating a new shade for them to trial to see if it’ll work, hold together, etc. When I worked with MAC on an eyeshadow, we wore lab coats and goggles, but we didn’t wear gloves or hairnets, because this wasn’t production but where things are tested/created initially so it’s not going to a consumer. It is likely that anything they pulled out of production and let someone touch or swatch didn’t go back into production.
Here are some resources so you can see what is required/guided by FDA (I didn’t see anything about masks):

Thank you very much for your detailed reply!!! I now feel much better!
Echo Park looks great on you!
Thanks, Chris!
I already know that Magic Wand would make me look like DEATH. Buuut, Echo Park is possibly colorful or deep enough not to look like corps lips, no?
I think it has a lot of warmth to keep it from getting into that territory!
I just got the Echo Park one, the formula is mind blowing even I gotta say that the Ultra Satin is better than Ultra Matte because it has semi-matte finish on me and it’s not drying at all. Yeah it’s transferable but the hydrating formula is amazing.
It saddens me when I find out Dopey is out of stock and it took so long for Colourpop to restock them. If they do restock it on their website, do you think it will have the same formula as the one they have released before? – I heard formula in lipstick can be changed if they get produced separately or in different time.
PS: you’re amazing, thank you so much for all the reviews 🙂
I don’t think they change formulas unless there’s a need to – I think they may have tried to improve the Ultra Mattes specifically.
