ColourPop Flutter By Eyeshadow Palette Review & Swatches
Flutter By
ColourPop Flutter By 12-Pan Pressed Powder Shadow Palette ($18.00 for 0.36 oz.) is a new, “cooler”-toned neutral palette with pinks, mauves, and some deeper plums/browns for contrast. The products performed consistently with past experience using these formulas; they were, generally, pigmented, blendable, and long-wearing with a few of the shades being a little powdery in the pan (but application went fine).
The palette includes one Pressed Glitter (Overpacked) and two Pressed Pigments (Gotta Fly and Ch-Ch-Changes), which all come with the warning “not intended for use in the immediate eye area.”

Just Imagine
Just Imagine is a medium, rosy peach with moderate, warm undertones and a metallic finish. It had opaque color payoff that applied evenly to bare skin with a smooth, even lay down of product. The consistency was soft, smooth, and blendable without little effort. It lasted well for eight hours on me before fading a bit.

Formula Overview
$4.50/0.05 oz. - $90.00 Per Ounce
The new Pressed Powder Shadow formula is supposed to be “highly pigmented” with an “ultra-velvety and silky” texture that is “long-wearing” and “adheres easily to the eyes.” Most of the shades have semi-opaque to opaque pigmentation that applies well to bare skin, blends out without issue, and lasts for seven to eight hours.
The matte eyeshadows tend to be a little more powdery, though soft and finely-milled, in the pan, while the shimmers have a creamier, dense consistency. Occasionally, the more sparkly or metallic shades apply better with fingertips or a dampened brush.

Wild Wing
Wild Wing is a muted, medium mauve with neutral-to-warm undertones and a matte finish. The eyeshadow had a soft, blendable texture that was dense, more substantial, but it wasn’t too powdery nor too heavy when applied to bare skin. It had opaque color coverage in a single layer that blended out nicely along the edges. The color showed signs of wear after eight hours.

Gotta Fly
Gotta Fly is a medium-dark, reddened plum with warm undertones and a pearly sheen. It had opaque color coverage in a single layer paired with a smooth, lightly creamy texture that had some slip but adhered evenly and wasn’t prone to sliding around. It lasted nicely for eight hours on me before creasing slightly.

Sunflare
Sunflare is a light pink with subtle, warm undertones and cooler, aqua shimmer. The eyeshadow was richly pigmented with a soft, more loosely-pressed texture, but it applied well with a gentle pressing/patting motion (did not require use with a brush or wet) for even, smooth application. It wore well for eight hours before I noticed slight fading.

Overpacked
Overpacked is a multi-colored glitter over a translucent base. It had small-sized glitter–larger than shimmer or sparkle but not the larger, more visually noticeable hexagon-shaped glitter that the brand sometimes releases. It seemed mostly pink with flashes of green, blue, teal, and gold throughout. It had medium to semi-opaque “coverage” in a single layer. The product had good spreadability, and while it had better wear than glitters of the past, there was still some migration/fallout over eight hours.

Mariposa
Mariposa is a medium-dark mauve with neutral-to-cool undertones and a matte finish. There were flecks of micro-sparkle, but they did not translate to the lid. The texture was soft, blendable, and easy to work with overall, though a smidgen powdery in the pan. It had rich pigmentation that lasted well for eight and a half hours before fading noticeably.

Angel BB
Angel BB is a deep, reddish-brown with neutral-to-cool undertones and a mostly matte finish. There was nearly imperceptible micro-shimmer running through it, but it aided in blendability without diverting from its matte finish in practice. It had rich color coverage in a single layer. The consistency was soft, a smidgen dusty in the pan but it applied evenly, blended out easily, and lasted nicely for eight and a half hours before fading a bit.

Getaway
Getaway is a soft, golden beige with muted, warm undertones and a bright, metallic finish. It was richly pigmented with a soft, more loosely-pressed texture, but it was the type of metallic that “melted” when applied to bare skin, so it was shiny and smoothing. I’d recommend applying with a pressing and patting motion and using a lighter hand to pick up product to minimize the chance of fallout. It lasted well for eight hours before I noticed slight fading.

Hauling! The mattes are wonderful! Not crazy about the pressed glitter and pigments but those are easy enough to pop out.
Even though it has a pressed glitter in it, this is one I’m getting! Too beautiful not to, I think. Last night, I watched ThatGirlShae demonstrate a safe way to remove glitter eyeshadow using Scotch tape. At least now I feel okay about using my MJ Topaz Flash!
The future: bought and panned.
It is a more cool toned palette, marred by the inclusion of pressed glitter, but very pretty shades. Gorgeous eye look Christine.
Agree, great eye look. You have some mad makeup application skills, Christine!
In my cart to get! So lovely!
It has a perfect dupe for Pat McGrath Velouria, I have to buy this palette!
I love that shade! I have the PMG and I was thinking how well this palette would pair and the irony of the huge price point difference.
Beautiful shades (except the glitter), beautiful packaging, and beautiful eye look, Christine. It will be difficult to fight the urge to get this one, but I’ll try.
Wow, Christine, you look beautiful in these photos!
I like this palette because the colouring is like ‘duh’..of course, I love it.. But the second reason is it contains plenty of mid tone mattes which is another big win since I’m wearing more mid tone and less dark shadows as I age. I’m definitely considering it, but will go through the dupe checking process first.
Thank you! 🙂
Nice palette (minus the glitters as I just cannot wear them). Might be worth picking up.
Your braid! Love it!
I feel like this is what I was hoping for in the
going coconuts palette. I wish it was a 9-pan collection, as I really prefer the smaller size palettes and can do without the glitter shadow. Guess I could depot these and put them in a smaller palette, but I really love the butterfly motif. Not sure I want to discard the packaging.
I only wanted one shadow and I knew exactly why. I wanted WILD WING because I knew- I just knew, it was a dupe for Pat McGrath. But another pressed plastic glitter? Avoid and pass completely. I won’t support that. You CANNOT responsibly dispose of it.
This palette is on its way to meeee! I love mauve eyeshadows.
When will I learn to wait for your review before buying products sight unseen?? I took a chance on this supposedly cool toned palette based on the shade descriptions on ColourPop’s site but the swatches were not close ups like yours. Warm toned shadows make me look sick so I get excited when brands launch cool versions but I’d never buy a 12 pan palette to only use 3 shades. This is arriving on Fri but, since I can’t return it, I’ll be giving it to a friend.
Thanks so much for your spectacular eye looks! … But what about that fab lip color? Name and brand? Thanks again!
Everything is listed under “Look Breakdown” above!
Ah yes, so it is! Thank you.
