ColourPop Festival Essentials Pressed Powder Shadows Reviews, Photos, Swatches (Part 3)
La Playa
ColourPop La Playa Pressed Powder Shadow ($5.00 for 0.04 oz.) is a very soft green with warm, yellow undertones and a frosted sheen. The pigmentation was opaque in a single layer, while the consistency was soft, smooth, and blendable without being too softly pressed in the pan. It wore well for eight hours on me before fading noticeably.

Formula Overview
$4.50/0.05 oz. - $90.00 Per Ounce
The new Pressed Powder Shadow formula is supposed to be “highly pigmented” with an “ultra-velvety and silky” texture that is “long-wearing” and “adheres easily to the eyes.” Most of the shades have semi-opaque to opaque pigmentation that applies well to bare skin, blends out without issue, and lasts for seven to eight hours.
The matte eyeshadows tend to be a little more powdery, though soft and finely-milled, in the pan, while the shimmers have a creamier, dense consistency. Occasionally, the more sparkly or metallic shades apply better with fingertips or a dampened brush.

Slay-farer
ColourPop Slay-farer Pressed Powder Shadow ($5.00 for 0.04 oz.) is a medium-dark, bluish-teal with a metallic sheen. The eyeshadow was richly pigmented with a smooth, lightly creamy texture that had a great press that was easy to work with–not too soft nor too firm–so the eyesahdow applied well to bare skin and stayed on nicely for eight hours before fading.

Formation
ColourPop Formation Pressed Powder Shadow ($5.00 for 0.04 oz.) is a medium, blue-teal with cool undertones and a matte finish. The pigmentation was fantastic with a smooth, velvety texture that was just a touch powdery in the pan, but it applied evenly on bare skin and blended out with ease. This shade lasted well for eight and a half hours on me.

Backstage
ColourPop Backstage Pressed Powder Shadow ($5.00 for 0.04 oz.) is a vibrant, medium blue with strong, cool undertones and a mostly matte finish. It was the type of matte finish that had barely-there pearl strewn throughout that seems to, in my experience, aid in blendability but is not prevalent enough to take away from the matte finish to the eye. The texture was soft without being too powdery or too firmly pressed in the pan. It had opaque pigmentation that stayed on well for eight hours on me.

Bassline
ColourPop Bassline Pressed Powder Shadow ($5.00 for 0.04 oz.) is a soft, pale blue with cool and “warm” blue shimmer that gave it a metallic finish. It had medium coverage that was buildable but opaque coverage was best achieved by using it with a dampened brush. The texture was smooth to the touch, blendable, and easy enough to work with. It lasted for eight hours on me.

Fault Line
ColourPop Fault Line Pressed Powder Shadow ($5.00 for 0.04 oz.) is a medium purple with subtle, warm undertones and cooler, violet pearl for a frosted finish. It had good color coverage in a single layer, though the texture seemed to have a bit too much slip to the point where it did not apply as smoothly or as evenly initially as a lot of other shimmery shades have done in the past for me. With some blending, it came together, though. This shade wore well for eight hours on me.

Ooh, pretty cool tones! La Playa is very tempting.
These shades are all beautiful, especially Formation.
So many splendidly perfect greens and teals, purple, too! Definitely getting Late Playa, as it dupes a bunch of my favorite pale green DC’d MUFE Artist Shadows! The purple Faultline is a beauty, and I do not believe that I have anything quite like it!
Noted to self (yeah, a CP pun) that I missed OG Linden and Linen Khaki, …never could decide…but consoled self that CP would have it fairly soon. Too annoyed with mufe to start getting the newbies. Actually think CP will issue every conceivable color, if you wait long enough. Lots of good choices here. Summer fun.
…I think I want literally ever color in this post. Haha. Just love this color scheme! Glad that Bassline is buildable – wouldn’t get it if it can only be as light coverage as in the swatch, but if it’s buildable then presumably use it both by itself and as a shimmery eyeshadow topper.
Or a highlighter!
Wow, matte blues that look great! Can’t wait to pick these up!!!
Happy to see these look good! La Playa and Slayfarer (terrible name tho) are on my wishlist. I have been wanting to branch out from my typical neutrals into brighter colors and this is the pricepoint for experimentation.
Yes, Slayfarer sounds like an ID Discovery series about serial killers who traveled the interstate system….and there were quite a few.
I’d definitely watch that! ID is my guilty pleasure.
Such gorgeous blue and green shades on offer here, all with excellent quality. La Playa is beautiful and hard to get right.
Stunning eye looks Christine.
Thank you, Genevieve!
Putting some of these on my wishlist -some nice purples and blues here!
Again I have to whine that I wish Colour Pop was available in-store in Canada (hey, it’s the least they can do since they’re using the Canadian/UK spelling!). While I wouldn’t use all these colours together in a bright look, I would love to have Fault Line and Slay-farer to use in combo with more neutral shades and I really, really love La Playa. MUFE used to have dupes but they are all the discontinued shades, which is really maddening…there’s nothing in the “new” line (at least not at Sephora) that is a dupe.
I’ve kind of been looking for a shade like Formation! I’ll definitely be buying that.
Stunning!!! You make me want to get them all, but I won’t. LOL
I love the colour and intense pigmentation of Formation, but found it very dusty in the pan and lots of fallout despite using a good primer (maybe my brush picked up too much powder since there was so much kick up in the pan).
The deal breaker was when it came to removal – this colour stained so badly! My oil cleanser and micellar water – which never usually struggle to remove any makeup – couldn’t lift all of the colour from my skin.
