Creme Fresh

Colour Pop Creme Fresh Velvet Blur Lux Lipstick ($7.00 for 0.12 oz.) is a medium-dark peach with warm, orange undertones and a semi-matte finish. It had medium, buildable pigmentation–semi-opaque in two to three passes–that looked slightly “crumbly” in the close-up, while the product gathered in my lip lines and made my lips appear more lined, even from afar. The lipstick itself felt smooth, lightweight, and thin without being clingy when applied, but it just didn’t look good (in terms of texture, nothing to do with the hue itself) on. I found that while the color lasted for three and a half hours, the product gathered more noticeably in my lip lines over time. It was neither drying nor hydrating on me while worn.

Formula Overview

$7.00/0.12 oz. - $58.33 Per Ounce

It's supposed to have a "soft focus, blurring effect" with "buildable" color that can deliver "high impact colour" with a "silky, velvet soft texture" that "smooths over fine lines and imperfections" without "drying out your lips." They have a velvety slip to them, as they're packed with silicone, and so they have that smooth feel as they go over the lips but have a lightweight, almost powder-like finish that makes me think of a "soft matte." From a normal viewing distance, like at a glance in a mirror or another person viewing you while having a face-to-face conversation, as opposed to checking one's lips close-up in the mirror, I saw the "blur" effect--soft, slightly understated color with a matte finish. The lack of opacity in some of them gave them a "softer" appearance to my eye.

That being said, I didn't experience any smoothing, and I haven't personally found that the more silicone-heavy lipstick formulas go that far in smoothing my lip lines; I'd actually feel like they're more likely to emphasize imperfections as the lipstick caught on flakes and settled into lip lines. There were some shades that applied more unevenly and were more prone to settling noticeably in my lip lines than others, and there were a few that applied evenly and were flattering with respect to texture on me as well. As always, I do my best to ensure that I exfoliate my lips regularly and keep my lips hydrated when not testing lip products (at night and the like) to try and have a "good" canvas for lip colors.

The coverage varied from shade to shade with most shades offering medium, buildable coverage, though some of the deeper and more vivid shades were more semi-opaque to nearly opaque in a single layer. The color faded a bit more readily from the center of my lips compared to the outer edges but was fairly even in how they wore down. Only the very deepest/more red-toned shades stained my lips (and only slightly) after wearing them. They seemed mostly non-drying but a few felt a little more drying to me. The formula has a sweet, burnt sugar scent but no discernible taste.

Hey Mr DJ

Colour Pop Hey Mr DJ Velvet Blur Lux Lipstick ($7.00 for 0.12 oz.) is a muted, medium pink-coral with warm undertones and a soft, matte finish. It had medium, buildable color coverage that was nearly opaque after two and a half to three passes of product. The consistency was velvety and smooth without feeling wet or emollient, yet the lipstick glided easily across my lips. The color went on fairly evenly, thought I felt it was very prone to emphasizing my lip lines and getting into my deeper lip lines. It wore well for four hours and was neither drying nor hydrating, but there was some additional product that moved into my deeper lip lines over time.

Wow – that’s a turn up! I really don’t like the look of these lippies. This is not like ColourPop at all.
Stunning eye look Christine. I just love how you manage to blend all those beautiful shades together to create something lovely.

I know about the stunning eye look. My daughter and I were looking at it last night and both agreeing that Christine has mad blending skills and even if I had the products, I wouldn’t be able to get a blend like that. I really love this combination of shades and the perfect pairing with the lippie. I am hoping that lippie reviews better than Cream Fresh did!!

I have watched a couple of videos to see swatches of these and all of the gurus “loved them”. They are so amazing!! Blurs my lip lines, etc. I actually love many of the colours so was hoping to pick up one or two and luckily, my preferred shades are not these two so still hopeful that my two will review well. I knew to wait until after reviews because this type of formula can be tricky. Overall, I like the MAC and Shiseido versions of this formula.

Some of the other shades definitely performed better than Creme Fresh at least, lol! But for me thus far, these types just don’t… blur lines…

It’s worth keeping in mind that a lot of influencers have fillers, which in plumping up the skin, help reduce lines. It’s a lot easier to pull off a line-accentuating formula when your lips no longer have lines to begin with!

I’m interested in seeing more reviews I bought 3 already and will probably pick up hey mr. DJ and superbloom. I bought all tea, alchemist, and fake love. I am hoping they perform better than creme fresh did. I have this type of powder lipstick in several other brands and my favorite by far has been MAC and my least favorite has been Cle cosmetics. I am hoping that Colourpop At least performs well enough for the price point. I usually apply these types of lipsticks in the middle of my lips and sheer it out with my finger for a more focused affect so I’m hoping these will work that way.
