The formula is described as “vibrant yet natural-looking cheek colour that looks virtually powderless.” The texture was smooth, soft, and dense, so it was never powdery in the pan or on the skin. The blush had good color payoff that was easily sheered out (or you could apply less, as the denser texture makes that easy to control). It’s the kind of texture that almost blends itself as soon as you start applying and working it onto the skin. The finish became more luminous as I blended the powder onto the skin, but it was never shiny or overly shimmery, so it always looked smooth on my skin and did not emphasize pores or my skin’s texture. It wore well for nine and a half hours on me before I noticed a bit of fading around the edges.

This might just make me look burnt. But… Sooo pretty. So glad they’re adding to the range. More, more!
I think there’s not quite enough warmth for it to be in burnt territory – like it’s just “cool” enough that it’s warm but not burnt? I promise I can make sense sometimes…
As I have done with a few of these…. I may buy it for my mom and sneak a try on myself. This formula looks really good on mature skin (or my mom’s at least!).
I was just taking a drink when I read “I promise I can make sense sometimes…” such a vulnerable yet doubly hilarious time to get a good surprise laugh out lol Actually you were making perfect sense to me. I got exactly what you were saying..but then again I’m the woman with diet pepsi carbonation dripping from my nose. IOU one Bwahahaha
Haha!
Wow, this is stunning!! Love the luminous finish, and how smooth and pigmented your swatch looks. An A+ and Temptalia recommended, impressive. I normally don’t wear red blush much as it looks too bold on my skin, but this is tempting me…..
The finish is amazinggg!
no way, this is black honey? this looks more like pink honey according to the sephora pictures. i totally ordered black honey because it looked like a darker version of cola pop :\
Cola is definitely much darker than Black Honey!
I agree! I would think Black Honey would be darker than Cola! This blush, while pretty, doesn’t live up to it’s name! I just looked at the Sephora pics, and they’re way off. The Pink Honey looks much darker than it is IRL too!
This is so pretty! The stock photo on Sephora.com makes this blush look like the same color that the lipstick is in the tube – an extremely dark purple that seemed unwearable. Glad to see that’s not the case IRL!
I didn’t really pay attention to the promo photos (I just saw new shades and bought with barely a thought!), but they are misleadingly dark for sure. I mean, I can tell you that lining up Pink Honey, Black Honey, and Cola Pop all in a line – Black Honey is several shades lighter than Cola Pop in person! It is definitely more of a light-medium to medium kind of color.
Awesome – thanks so much for the detailed review 😀
I love blushes like this! Color, finish, everything is just right.
Beautiful! I have nothing like it.
Oops, nope, I do: I have a discontinued blush from Aromaleigh called Gerbera, which is this plus a satiny neutral pink highlight. Not sure I can justify the same color just without the highlight.
Hope there wan’t some kind of goof. I have not looked at the promo photos, but naming it black honey DOES suggest something darker. This is not in the same family as the iconic lip products. But it is drop dead gorg. Only one dupe, and I love cola pop. These are brand extensions, rather than holiday LE, right? Almost sure I will be in on this one eventually.
I don’t own any of the cheek pops and haven’t really paid attention to them. I vaguely knew they were popular but this is absolutely stunning. I am headed to Missoula, Montana tomorrow, (the nearest “big city”), and will go by Dillards to check these out. Thank you so much Christine. Everything looks amazing on you.
This is gorgeous! Both of these newly released blushes by Clinique have really impressed me.
This. This is the one for me this winter. Way more rich in color than the Cheek Pop from yesterday! Especially considering that my CP Cruel Intentions is beginning to smell like Play-Dooh.
This shade looks more like Red Honey, than Black Honey! I picture a deep burgundy like the lipstick. I’m glad the formula is still getting great reviews.
Just love Color Pops in general and I really love this color. I may look this one up next time I’m in a store.
LOVE IT! Looks pretty on you Christine, and goes well with that TF contour duo too.
I’ve worn Black Honey nail polish for a hundred years I think and I just might get more wear out of this than the Cola Pop.
Thanks for the review!
So pretty. I’m not sure if I can pull it off but I really like it.
Such a pretty colour. Clinique have done some really good stuff the last couple of years and for me they are out of the dull zone. 🙂
A lovely shade and fantastic value. It’s not often that a product receives an A+.
Absolutely gorgeous, though not quite what I was expecting from Black Honey. More pink and warmer than I anticipated.
I wish this was more similar to Clinique’s other iterations of black honey, which pull more brown…
But it’s nice that they keep expanding this range and that they perform consistently well.
Sephora really needs to take better pictures! I too thought the Black Honey shade was going to look darker like how it was on their site and was excited for it. People who bought from Sephora blind may be quite disappointed as this is not how it looks on there, nor does it look like the rest of the Black Honey line. Very disappointed.
I haven’t been this excited for a blush in awhile. I absolutely love it!
Super pretty as well!
This is amazinggggg …
love the texture of these blushes …
Now THIS has me excited! I think this shade is what I’d hoped Cola Pop would be. I can definitely wear this shade 🙂 Wow, I’m 2.9 seconds away from faking a migraine so I can leave work and go buy this right now lol….
Just beautiful! When is coming out? That color is not listed yet online in Nordstrom and Macy’s.
I bought mine from Sephora!
The color oh the sephora website does not look anything like this- is there more than one Black Honey Pop?
Hi Hilary,
I don’t compare or trust promotional photos in general, I can only go by what I have here. I purchased mine from Sephora, and this is what I received!
Wow, that is fricken gorgeous! Definitely picking this up!
Awesome!
Hi Christine,
Thank you for all of your hard work, you and I both have very similar skin tones doc I look to you a lot when undecided on a product 🙂
Quick question? Do you apply a ‘heavier’ layer of products (particularly blush) for pics or is this how dark the blush is on first application? It’s really hard for me to gauge how blush will look on me until I know the answer!! Lol
Maria
Hi Maria,
I usually apply enough so that it will show upon my skin tone and on camera, but it is not the heaviest it can go!
