The formula is described as “vibrant yet natural-looking cheek colour that looks virtually powderless.” The texture was smooth, soft, and dense, so it was never powdery in the pan or on the skin. The blush had good color payoff that was easily sheered out (or you could apply less, as the denser texture makes that easy to control). It’s the kind of texture that almost blends itself as soon as you start applying and working it onto the skin. The finish became more luminous as I blended the powder onto the skin, but it was never shiny or overly shimmery, so it always looked smooth on my skin and did not emphasize pores or my skin’s texture. It wore well for nine and a half hours on me before I noticed a bit of fading around the edges.

As I have done with a few of these…. I may buy it for my mom and sneak a try on myself. This formula looks really good on mature skin (or my mom’s at least!).

I was just taking a drink when I read “I promise I can make sense sometimes…” such a vulnerable yet doubly hilarious time to get a good surprise laugh out lol Actually you were making perfect sense to me. I got exactly what you were saying..but then again I’m the woman with diet pepsi carbonation dripping from my nose. IOU one Bwahahaha

Wow, this is stunning!! Love the luminous finish, and how smooth and pigmented your swatch looks. An A+ and Temptalia recommended, impressive. I normally don’t wear red blush much as it looks too bold on my skin, but this is tempting me…..

I agree! I would think Black Honey would be darker than Cola! This blush, while pretty, doesn’t live up to it’s name! I just looked at the Sephora pics, and they’re way off. The Pink Honey looks much darker than it is IRL too!

This is so pretty! The stock photo on Sephora.com makes this blush look like the same color that the lipstick is in the tube – an extremely dark purple that seemed unwearable. Glad to see that’s not the case IRL!

I didn’t really pay attention to the promo photos (I just saw new shades and bought with barely a thought!), but they are misleadingly dark for sure. I mean, I can tell you that lining up Pink Honey, Black Honey, and Cola Pop all in a line – Black Honey is several shades lighter than Cola Pop in person! It is definitely more of a light-medium to medium kind of color.

Hope there wan’t some kind of goof. I have not looked at the promo photos, but naming it black honey DOES suggest something darker. This is not in the same family as the iconic lip products. But it is drop dead gorg. Only one dupe, and I love cola pop. These are brand extensions, rather than holiday LE, right? Almost sure I will be in on this one eventually.

I don’t own any of the cheek pops and haven’t really paid attention to them. I vaguely knew they were popular but this is absolutely stunning. I am headed to Missoula, Montana tomorrow, (the nearest “big city”), and will go by Dillards to check these out. Thank you so much Christine. Everything looks amazing on you.

This shade looks more like Red Honey, than Black Honey! I picture a deep burgundy like the lipstick. I’m glad the formula is still getting great reviews.

LOVE IT! Looks pretty on you Christine, and goes well with that TF contour duo too.
I’ve worn Black Honey nail polish for a hundred years I think and I just might get more wear out of this than the Cola Pop.
Thanks for the review!

I wish this was more similar to Clinique’s other iterations of black honey, which pull more brown…
But it’s nice that they keep expanding this range and that they perform consistently well.

Sephora really needs to take better pictures! I too thought the Black Honey shade was going to look darker like how it was on their site and was excited for it. People who bought from Sephora blind may be quite disappointed as this is not how it looks on there, nor does it look like the rest of the Black Honey line. Very disappointed.

Hi Christine,

Thank you for all of your hard work, you and I both have very similar skin tones doc I look to you a lot when undecided on a product 🙂

Quick question? Do you apply a ‘heavier’ layer of products (particularly blush) for pics or is this how dark the blush is on first application? It’s really hard for me to gauge how blush will look on me until I know the answer!! Lol
