Hollywood
Ciate Hollywood Glitter Flip ($19.00 for 0.10 oz.) is a bright, medium red with cool, blue undertones and flecks of fuchsia, ruby red, and silvery pink shimmer and glitter. It had good pigmentation in a single layer, which applied evenly on the lips. The texture was rather fluid to the point where it was hard to control the flow and spread of the product on the lips, so a lip brush might be necessary for really crisp, clean edges. It dried down fairly quickly, felt heavier and clingy on the lips, and there was a subtle tackiness to it after dry down. After I pressed my lips together, it went from faintly ruby-red metallic to sparkling with moderate glitter exposure. The color lasted for five and a half hours, left a slight stain behind, and was moderately drying over time. There were bits of color that crumbled away, as the formula was heavier and thicker after it dried down, so it was not a particularly flattering wear down.

Formula Overview

The Glitter Flip formula is supposed to be a transformative "glitter liquid lipstick," where it goes from lightly metallic at dry down to glitter-tastic after pressing lips together. For most shades, there was a definite difference in finish after pressing lips together, but I found that it required two to three presses (and too many more resulted in product lifting away) for moderate to heavy glitter exposure. The pigmentation ranged from shade to shade but was typically more opaque than not. The formula itself is heavy--one of the heavier liquid lipsticks I've tried in awhile--and the liquid lipstick itself was incredibly fluid during application, which made it harder to control along the edges. It dried down fairly quickly, and while the edges were a challenge, it wasn't too difficult to apply overall.
The brand touts it as "non-drying" and "totally comfortable" and that it "will last all night." It was a drying formula--from lightly to moderately drying--and felt dry and heavy on the lips (I think it felt worse than it often looked!), while the wear ranged from four to six hours. The way it wore was probably a bigger concern: heavier fading from the center of the mouth but noticeable flaking and chunks of color/glitter coming away after a few hours of wear (especially if I ate anything).
It's a cool product, and absolutely true that they were less work than layering a glitter over another a product, especially if you prefer a more "matte metallic" finish (would be harder to get glitter to stick to a flat, matte lipstick!). I think they will be best for someone who uses a lip liner prior, doesn't mind fussing with the edges, and has been longing for a finish like this--but only if one can tolerate a drying product!

Fortune
Ciate Fortune Glitter Flip ($19.00 for 0.10 oz.) is a deep, blackened purple with subtle warm undertones and a glittering finish. The consistency was very fluid but dried down to a heavier, thicker feel that clung to lips and had a tendency to crumble away from the center of my lips while I wore it. It was incredibly pigmented, and the evenness of the application was impressive for this type of color. After it dried down and I pressed my lips together, it was definitely noticeably more glittery and sparkly, but the heaviness of the texture seemed to cause some of the glitter to clump together and not look quite as sparkly as it could have. It lasted for six hours on me but did not wear down evenly at all and was fairly drying.

Oh dear. I don’t like the idea of a crumbly finish at all. Think I’ll be sticking with KVD Televator and Nyx Acme for these types of finishes!
I wish they wore better!
These look so dry and just not good.
Yeah, they weren’t fun to wear!
These don’t look glittery at all.
They seemed sparkly to me!
This formula is not long wearing from all the reviews I’ve seen. Cool to look at but I want a metallic lip to last longer and wear down evenly. 😉
Yeah, it ends up more as a novelty item than a genuine, amazing product to me!
That’s one of the problems with lip glosses – what are they like as they wear down. Although the colours are pretty, I think they would ultimately not be too comfortable for your lips.
They weren’t that comfortable to wear!
I’m glad I waited for your review before taking the plunge on these. You basically confirmed my suspicions (particularly the flaking and heaviness). I had watched a bunch of YT reviews beforehand to try to get an idea of the formula, but kept getting disconcerted. B/c while I noticed the aforemention issues during the videos, the reviewers mentioned nothing and kept RAVING about the formula.
I think I’ll still get 1 to try out b/c the effect really is cool especially for the holiday season. Maybe 1 of the pink/red/berry colors, depending on which got the highest rating. Thank you again Christine for being so diligent about your reviews.
They are cool, but I wish they were better in performance for sure! 🙁
Yes, I can see what you mean by it looking heavy and thick on the lips, kind of worried about the crumbling. I’m eyeing Infamous, hoping it scores well
I like the look of them, they’d be cool for a party. But, a pass for me because of how the formula performs.
Sounds too complicated for me. I hate messy wear down.
I wish they were not drying they are kinda cool!
