The Joues Contraste Blush formula is supposed to have a “silky, delicate texture” with “buildable coverage” that gives a “radiant glow.” This is one of four exclusives to Chanel’s website, though it has been released before (but I don’t remember having it). Hyperfresh had mostly opaque color coverage, and it was less buildable than a lot of other Chanel blushes I’ve tried in the past. The consistency was thin, a little drier but had a softness to it that I’d expect from the formula. I struggled to spread and diffuse the color evenly across the cheeks, though, and I ended up having to cheat to soften the edges by using flesh-toned looser powder and a buffing brush. The blush stayed on the skin well for eight and a half hours.

Formula Overview
$45.00/0.17 oz. - $264.71 Per Ounce
The Joues Contraste formula is supposed to have “buildable coverage, from natural to dramatic” with a “flattering radiance” and “silky texture.” The pigmentation ranges from semi-sheer to fully opaque, depending on technique and skin tone, but it seemed exactly as described–buildable–without having to pile it on or spend too long sheering it out. The formula has an extremely smooth, silky consistency that blends out beautifully on the skin. Most shades wear around eight hours on me.
The formula is rose-scented but the scent was largely undetectable applied (but noticeable in the compact).

Yeees finally a matte one! Pretty.
Yayyy!
WOW!!!!
It’s a bold one!
Oh so pretty!! Chanel is killing me with temptation on these blushes, but I can’t buy any because of fragrance
Awww! 🙁
Very bold, indeed.
It sure is! 🙂
Aww too bad it had potential.
I agree!
Oh dear me, but this one takes me clear back to the 80’s! LOL! I actually DID wear a crazy bright fuchsia-pink blush like this almost ALL the time!
(Looked rad with my spiral permed, heavily blonde highlighted hair!) ?
Haha! 😉 I guess the 80s are back… a little!
Sweet Christmas that’s bold! Definitely something different from what Chanel has done lately. The swatches on your arm look like the powder melted into your skin, which I love.
It’s always nice to see high-end/luxury brands branch out!
I would find this shade brutal for diffusing. I think a lot of it has to do with the small area I have to work with since my cheeks do not have a lot of flesh over the actual bone and I have fairly small features for a tall girl. Plus, I like to wear my blush high up so really dense or concentrated formulas have no area to properly graduate the colour without falling off the cliffs of my cheekbones. LOL. I finally made this assessment after years.
The colour is so pretty though.
LOL! I hear you, Wendy. If I reach for something this bold, it has to diffuse easily!
Great color, but fussyyyyyyy.
I wish it was easier to use — it’s so imperative for bolder shades like this to be easy to use!
