Chanel Fall 2020 Rouge Allure Ink Liquid Lip Colours Reviews & Swatches
Ambiguite (834)
Chanel Ambiguite (834) Rouge Allure Ink Fusion Matte Liquid Lip Colour ($38.00 for 0.20 oz.) is a muted, medium reddish-brown with moderate, warm undertones and a flat, matte finish. It had a thin, more watery consistency that felt like it was going to go everywhere–it really felt like water when applied–and this resulted in the formula not self-leveling as well, which is why the outer edge of my lips has a bit of a darker, more opaque look.
They swatch less-than-ideal, but surprisingly, the color applied decently to my lips. It had semi-opaque, buildable coverage with a very lightweight, thin feel that was flexible enough not to feel as powdery or as thick as some liquid lipsticks (that dry to a matte finish) can feel like. Unfortunately, the thinness of the formula ensured that lip lines were emphasized. It wore well for six hours and felt non-drying over time.

Formula Overview
$45.00/0.2 oz. - $225.00 Per Ounce
The formula is supposed to have "ultra-intense, ultra-matte, longwearing lip colour" that "fuses" for "lightweight" and "comfortable coverage." The coverage was more semi-opaque than "ultra-intense," but the finish was flat, matte after the product dried down. A second layer could be applied for more pigmentation (once the initial layer set).
The initial texture was thin, more watery and fluid than I expected, and it almost seemed more like a blotted effect after it dried down. The product had marginally more stretch and flexibility to it after dry down, so it was more comfortable to wear and felt very lightweight on. I would recommend exfoliating prior to applying this formula to ensure a smoother application.
They lasted between five and six hours and felt non-drying for the most part. There was a very subtle, floral scent but no discernible taste.

PPermanent. $45.00.
Idyllique (836)
Chanel Idyllique (836) Rouge Allure Ink Fusion Matte Liquid Lip Colour ($38.00 for .20 oz.) is a brighter, medium red with cooler undertones and a flat, matte finish. It had semi-opaque pigmentation that applied evenly for the most part; there was a slightly deeper, more opaque edge as the formula was thin and more watery but did not self-level along the edges of my lips.
The formula dried down quickly but felt more flexible and less-dry than it looked on my lips in the close-up (where my lines are quite emphasized!). It stayed on well for six and a half hours, left a soft stain behind, and felt neither drying nor hydrating over time.

The shades themselves look beautiful. I’m less sure how I feel about the watery consistency, though. My lips are fairly smooth in texture, but I have lines above my upper lid from my 17 years of heavy smoking when I was much younger. I’d be afraid of this bleeding into those as I’d be applying them. Not a look if want to sport!
Oh gosh, they are both SO pretty. I’m afraid the first one (Ambiguite?) may pull grey on me however, just looking at the swatch.
And the second one is just breathtaking, but may be too bright for me to pull off. I’m going to have to see these in person.
That second one is YOUR COLOR, Christine. So, so pretty!
I love my lippies, but reading reviews, I can’t help but think how they would come off on a mask. How sad that that is now my benchmark…
I really don’t like that flat matte finish, it would rip up my lips in no time.
