Chanel Burst (142) Rouge Coco Bloom Lip Colour ($40.00 for 0.11 oz.) is a rich, medium-dark red with subtle, cool undertones and lighter, ruby red pearl that gave it a soft, pearlescent sheen. It had mostly opaque color coverage in a single layer, which was buildable to full coverage with a second stroke.
The texture was smooth, lightweight, and lightly creamy–not quite as balm-like or as emollient as other shades but better for it as this ensured the color and pearl dispersed evenly. It wore well for four and a half hours, felt lightly hydrating, and left a faint stain behind.

The formula is supposed to have "intense colour" and a "high-shine finish" that is "longwearing" and "hydrating." The majority of the shades had semi-opaque to opaque coverage with a few having more translucent coverage. The color typically applied evenly and smoothly across my lips without tugging or settling noticeably into my lip lines.
The texture was emollient, more like a lipstick-lip-balm hybrid with moderate slip and a tendency to be more yielding as it warmed up against my lips, though it didn't start off stiff or firm either. I found that most shades were flattering on my lips as they were more forgiving of imperfections in texture.
While they weren't particularly long-wearing--more like three to five hours with deeper, red-based shades lasting the longest--they were comfortable, moisturizing, and not prone to feathering/bleeding. They had a floral scent but no discernible taste.

Chanel Unexpected (144) Rouge Coco Bloom Lip Colour ($40.00 for 0.11 oz.) is a deep red with neutral-to-cool undertones and a glossy, cream finish. It had semi-opaque pigmentation with a translucency to it, which gave it a more balm-like look, so while not opaque, it still had a richer level of color in practice.
The consistency felt smooth, lightly creamy, and had moderate slip, which ensured it was comfortable to apply and to wear. I didn’t find it feathered or bled on me, though I am not prone to either. It lasted nicely for five hours, left a faint stain behind, and was moisturizing.

Love both shades. However, I don’t need either one because I have two dupes for Burst, and Unexpected may be too cool-toned for me.
I’m having a serious case of “want” for so many of the Rouge Coco Bloom Lip Colour lipsticks. So many lovely shades of rich beautiful reds.
I do have a dupe for Burst, and a MAC dupe on my wish list for Unexpected, so while wanting these two I’ll just buy the cheaper alternative and thank Christine for the saving.
I will probably try this formula in the future, they have such a lovely luminous quality to them.
